Not by ghosts, but by the past - the shadows we leave behind. I thought I found this book by accident, but I can't afford to believe that anymore. Everything happens for a reason. A thought provoking read. Several things popped into my head while reading this book: the truth is out there, the prime directive from Star Trek and the voice of the narrator reminded me of Lemony Snicket.
I enjoyed the references to Grand Rapids and to libraries.
This is such a lovely, haunting story. Shadows sweeps you away to the past and carries you through the knotted threads of time. Victorian Grand Rapids feels close enough to touch and the characters as real as your friends and neighbors. Simply sublime.
