Kidnapped. Someone of his skill should not have been kidnapped at all. Let alone so easily. But when Kairo Jones wakes up halfway around the world with a reclusive billionaire begging for his help, the mercenary knows he can’t say no. He also knows that he might be in over his head. While Charlie and the rest of the team race to locate their missing member, Kairo fights to keep the sexy man with the sad eyes alive long enough to get some answers. Kairo’s Billionaire is the second full-length novel in the Shadow Elite series and features mercenaries, assassins, danger, explosions, a brooding billionaire with a battered heart, and love on the run in Greece.

More fabulous adventures with the Shadow Elite team
Bonus GLove and Justin appearances just added to the usual excellent mix of humour, action and dodgy deed doing.
I've been enjoying this series from Jocelynn very much and seeing the quiet Tech guru Kairo Jones get bowled over by a sift, cinnamon bun billionaire was a treat!
I loved Isidore and his sister Athena, I loved the Greek setting and I loved seeing all the gang together taking the michael out of each other as they did their usual secret mercenary sneaks to find out who kept kidnapping Issie.
While the feels might have caught quickly, there's some time given to allow Kairo and Isidore to learn more about each other and want to take things further.
A heightened sense of fear and adrenaline-packed action tends to help speed things along the romance path quite quickly!
Loved the banter, loved the way they were each determined to put themselves in harms way for the other and loved how they talked about everything.
Also the set up for Ed's book is fascinating so I'm very much looking forward to reading that.
#ARC kindly received from the author via GRR in return for an honest and unbiased review.
I enjoyed this a lot, a little more than the first book, even. I really enjoyed Kairo and Isidore's chemistry, and the plot was enough to keep me invested.
At the end of the last book, we saw that Kairo got knocked out and kidnapped. In this we find out why.
Isidore is, obviously, a billionaire, who has been kidnapped and his kidnappers want him to get them into the network of his whole conglomerate company - which he inherited from his parents when they died in a car crash - so they can steal cash out of it. Isidore, who is mostly a figurehead for the company, doesn't have the first clue about hacking into computers, even his own company's.
So, he has his bodyguard's, through his kidnappers I'm assuming, kidnap Kairo and bring him to the place he's being held.
Isidore found out about Kairo through a friend who blabbed about Kairo being a hacker genius and a mercenary. He needed help, and Kairo seemed to fit the bill.
And Isidore was stuck between a rock and a hard place, because as incentive to keep Isidore cooperating, they also kidnapped Isidore's sister, Athena. Isidore feels bad about having Kairo kidnapped of course, but he has to do something to save his sister who he adores.
And Kairo can't stay mad at him for long when it's clear that Isidore is as much a victim as him, and is also one of the kindest, sweetest men he's ever met.
It was a tad fast between these two, the connection made between them. I did like them, and then came to love them, but they do kind of go from 0 to 100 real quick. Which, maybe in their kidnapped environment, and them spending all day trapped in a room together, brought about the fastness, but still. It felt a tad rushed between these two.
I also wished for a little more steam. What we got was great, but the sex scenes were minimal, and that bummed me out. There was only about two or three detailed sex scenes and I'm greedy and wanted more.
Those brought my rating down by .75, but overall weren't too much of a problem, and overall I still enjoyed this very much.
I enjoyed getting to see the whole gang too - when they're all together it just works. And Isidore and Athena falling in with them almost seamlessly worked really well as well. They became just as much their family as the original group is a family.
Also getting a little bit of Gabriel and Justin again was a treat which I very much enjoyed.
The big climax was perhaps solved a tad too easily, but that's okay in the end, because it was still enjoyable and I cared more about the characters in the end than the plot.
I would definitely recommend this, it was very much an enjoyable read. I'm excited for Ed's book next, we get a little bit of him and his Li in the epilogue and it definitely has me intrigued. Although it would have been nice if the epilogue was focused more on Isidore and Kairo, I gotta say. But Ed and his LI intrigued me enough that I ultimately decided to let that go.
Pitty I can only give 5* here, because this book definitely deserves more. This is yet another great book in this series. Kairo and Izzie were so sweet together!!
We sort of pick up where the last book has left us, we go just a teensieweensie back to get you up to date. Kairo wakes up drugged in a small bedroom with a beautiful man who turns out to be Izzie. He's been kidnapped too, along with his sister, only Izzie is the one who had Kairo taken. Izzie's a billionaire who promised his kidnappers an item and a lot of money but he needed an IT man for this and that's where Kairo comes in. Kairo feels an immediate attraction to sweet Izzie and decides to help him by stalling and deceiving the kidnappers so he can contact his team to come and rescue them. They all work together to try and find out who's behind all the things happening.
I loved everything about this book, Kairo's overprotectiveness of Izzie once he got to know him better and he started to develop feelings for the sweet guy. Izzie, who was such a sweetheart. He just wanted to take care of everybody, felt bad for the least bit of hurt he might cause and was so hooked on Kairo.
We also get to see more of the team and the banter between them all is still a riot. We even get a cameo appearance from Alexei's uncles.
And just as in the first book the epilogue leads us to the next book in the series which will be Edison's story. I'm already impatiently looking out for that one!!
*I received a copy of this book by Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.*
This one started out really slow for me, didn't really pick up until the rest of the team hooked back up with Kairo after his little kidnapping. I thought it was funny how he was trying to figure out how to get the guys to "save" him, when all that was needed was a ferret and luck, that was some crazy shit going down, that you had to laugh in the aftermath.
I thought it was fun to see Isidore and Athena react to the Kairo and the team when they started in on their rhythm of working together, giving each other shit and pulling out embarrassing stories. At first they really weren't sure what to make of it, but quickly they were joining on, flinging the shit all over. I especially liked when Isidore sought out a couple team members for help to gain skills so that he could help the team and Kairo wouldn't leave him behind. The advice they gave was spot on and perfect.
The big "op" at the end was so funny. So much going on, the party full of suspicious people, a really fake fiancé and lots of by play on the coms from everyone. It was lots of fun, especially with Justin and Gabriel there too. The bad guys were dealt with, Isidore and Athena safe, and now there is going to be a new person in on all the high jinx.

Kairo's Billionaire is the second book in the Shadow Elite series and it’s a fantastic addition! Kairo is kidnapped. He meets Isidore and helps him and his sister escape. Kairo and Isidore forge a bond and just grow closer. They’re sweet, hot and steamy. They work to find out who wants Isidore and his sister dead or at least their money. Gabriel and Justin and Soren and Alexei make an appearance too! Freaking loved this story! Overall, a fantastic read! Well written with addicting pacing, could not put it down!
Once again, Jocelynn Drake has created an ensemble cast that makes for entertaining reading. This book is a bit fluffier than usual, at least until the end, because Isadore is a fluffy cinnamon roll of a character who brings out the cinnamon roll in Kairo, but it works for them. A word of warning...if you don't like cliffhangers, don't read the epilogue. I can't wait for the next book.
The second book in this series follows the recipe of the first. Again the team comes to help the - this time new - love interest of one of the team members. The dynamics and characters fell similar, the surrondings are different. Still all well written and entertaining. Now I'm waiting for book 3.
After reading the epilogue in Charlie and Wills story and that sneaky cliffhanger finally got to read kairos book. Totally love it laughed a bit. So nice for Justin and Gabriel to make an appearance
Love being back with this group. Kairo is such a wonderful character. Really enjoyed watching him and Isidore grow closer. Athena was a lot of fun as well. Have to admit that getting glimpses of Alexei would make any book work for me, though. Can't wait to see what shenanigans the boys get up to next!
re-read: the gaaaaaang. gods, I adore them. Izzie is so sweet and Athena is the best.
this and all future re-reads: love this book so much. Isidore and Kairo absolutely melt my heart.
So I particularly enjoyed the twist beginning to this story. Kairo is expecting some down time after he and the team have finished up their most recent assignment, getting kidnapped and shipped off to Greece was not in the plans. I loved that Isidore's logic was well if they're going to kidnap a hacker to break into my company at least I can get someone I think maybe I can trust since I've heard of this mercenary guy before. Of course then there's instant chemistry and Isidore is just too sweet for words so Kairo is immediately into protect mode.
I actually liked that this story wasn't one big hostage situation that they were trying to escape from. We get to spend time with the whole crew because of one of the more amusing escape "not-plans." This group of guys are always entertaining and Isidore, despite his more corporate background slides right in with them. He may not have the mercenary/military training of Kairo's crew, but he's got the compassion and need to help other people while tacking on a brilliant logistical mind.
These two were very sweet and I liked that Kairo worked to build up Isidore's confidence and didn't try to pack him in too much bubble wrap. I enjoy these characters and this series as a whole.
Another great adventure for the Shadow Elite. Starting off with a kidnapping, Kairo meets Isidore who has hiredhim to help his sister escape. Kairo being a decent guy, insists they will all escape and find out who is behind it. Medium burn for steam though there is an element of insta love. That worked for me here. The couple spent a couple of days locked in a room together, they forged a bond. Loved seeing Gabriel and Justin again! Soren and Alexei too. Cannot wait for book 3
Picking up where we left off, we find out where Kairo is! Locked in a room with his own Kidnapper of all things! Izzie is a billionaire with a kind heart. He is truly dedicated to trying to help and care for others. Kairo is drawn to Izzie's sweetness and instantly feels protective of him. I enjoyed the slow and sweet romance of Kairo and Izzie. I was also loving all the banter and the many surprise cameos! Fabulous Greek setting with the perfect balance of fun, suspense and romance.
Loved Kairo and his cinnamon bun, Izzie. Good follow up to last book in series. Loads of action, along with lots of twists and turns. I really enjoy the guys together, and the way they look out for one another, just like the family they are. I do love stories about found family. Well written, the story flowed well, with a great plot. Enjoyed watching Izzie's character grow stronger and gain in confidence, due to Kairo's belief in him. Already intrigued by Edison's upcoming story.
A wonderful addition to this series. Kairo gets taken after finishing the last job in Charlie/Will’s book. There he meets Isidore, who was also taken. There he finds out he is in Greece. There is an instant connection between the two. This started their story of how they got away and to try to figure out why they were taken in the first place. Fast paced, lots of action and high steam. Loved it and cannot wait for Edison’s book.
The second book in this series is just as amazing as the first. Kairo, hacker and mercenary extraordinaire, gets himself kidnapped and transported to Greece where he meets Isidore. Together, with Kairo's team they must work to find out who is attacking Isidore and his sister. Adventure, sexy times and Greece. Add in a wily ferret and how could you not love this book?
Wonderful addition to Shadow Elite and Exit Strategy universe
Kairo and Isidore were great together and Athena was a little spitfire, so much fun, with a nice balance of action, snark, sarcasm. Plus we got to see Gabriel and Justin. Looking forward to Edison’s story in February.
Not gonna lie, Isidore irritated me a bit. His determined optimism was getting in the way of self-preservation; he really needed Kairo because he was just too nice. I can't wait to see where Ed's green-eyed guy leads the team next.
Nov 2025 this time around I loved it much more than the first time - plus 0,5 stars
First review So, this is the second book in this series and it can be read as a standalone ... but it may be more enjoyable if you already know the characters, at least it was for me. And we see a lot of previous characters
This book is much sweeter than Charlie's Doctor, which fits Kairo perfectly. I loved how he and Izzie just clicked ... it was such a sweet romance .
The mystery is well done and flows at a great pace. I especially liked how the mystery and the relationship development gave each other room to shine. It was very well done and enjoyable.
All in all a great read, especially if you are looking for a sweet suspens novel to escape the day.
An ARC was provided by GRR and I am happy to give my honest opinion 😊
Soooo it was slow and kinda sappy. In addition at end of Charlie’s book Ed was going home to NC to see his sister…..now he is an only child at the end of this book. Inconsistencies annoy me.

Kairo’s Billionaire is the second book in Jocelynn Drake’s Shadow Elite series. Kairo Jones has been kidnapped and he cannot believe when the man behind his kidnapping is trapped with him. Isidore Panopolous is just trying to keep his company and his sister safe. He gets his kidnappers to take Kairo, a notorious hacker mercenary. He never expects to be instantly attracted to the man and for Kairo to want him back. As they escape one danger to find another the two men are faced with an unknown future.
Kairo Jones has never been one to put anyone ahead of his team. Once he meets Isidore he finds his priorities are changing as he wants to protect the man at any cost. He struggles with Isidore’s extreme levels of wealth and finds himself lacking. He even tries to put distance between them as he feels completely inadequate. Isidore refuses to let Kairo believe so little of himself and shows him in many ways how important he is.
He hated to admit it, but the guys were right. Isidore was a cinnamon roll - decadently sweet and squishy. Kairo couldn’t recall anyone taking care of him, protecting him, quite like Isidore did, and he never wanted to let him go.
Isidore Panopolous is a cinnamon roll billionaire who just wants to protect his sister. He doesn’t care what happens to him and instantly regrets dragging Kairo into his mess. He is drawn to Kairo but is not a hook-up guy. He wants more from Kairo but doubts he can bring anything to the team besides his funds.
I’ll follow you anywhere. Kairo didn’t know if it was the words Isidore had spoken or the way the man was staring at him, but he was mesmerized. Hypnotized. Knocked breathless and senseless.
Isidore and Kairo meet under extremely stressful conditions and find themselves drawn to each other. Their emotions run high and quickly admit how much they want each other for more than a night. This insta-love situation was a little much for me but I always struggle with this trope. I love the group of mercenaries and found Isidore a great addition to the group. Seeing all the guys immediately jump to help Kairo and Isidore made me love them even more.
3.5 stars for Isidore and Kairo’s high stress meet cute leading to forever.
In Griechenland!
An exciting mix of romance, suspense, and adventure, where the chemistry between Kairo and Isidore, his billionaire love interest, is electric, and their dynamic is as passionate as it is heartfelt. The pacing of the story is fantastic, pulling you in with high-stakes action and keeping you hooked with emotional moments that hit all the right notes.
Kairo is strong yet vulnerable, balancing his dangerous job with his growing feelings, while his billionaire partner is more than just wealth and power—he has his own layers, making the romance feel genuine. The plot moves quickly, blending romance with intrigue, and the action sequences add a refreshing twist to the typical billionaire romance trope.
I loved the chemistry and the action, making this a captivating read that combines sizzling romance with pulse-pounding danger, leaving me eager for more from this world.
If you're a fan of steamy romance with an edge of danger, this book is definitely worth picking up!
Again, the epilogue is the thrilling start for Edison's Professor, so on to the next.....
a general sense of mayhem on the loose I find so ingratiatingly satisfying
Rating:4.25🌈
Kairo’s Billionaire slightly backtracks into the last pages of Charlie’s Doctor, recounting the events that happened to launch this story.
That would be the kidnapping of Kairo by unknown persons as he exited the bar where everyone was celebrating the success of the team’s mission.
I’m fully enjoying this series. Even though I’m aware of some of the issues with the realism of two billionaires kidnapped and no one realizes, the easiest escape ever, and other things that are still a wee bit of a stretch to believe in, it’s all such fun entertainment that I am willing to take it as such.
I just enjoy the characters, their relationships, the fact there’s a ferret element, a family of assassins (those that kill together ). I mean it’s just a general sense of mayhem on the loose I find so ingratiatingly satisfying.
Plus love , and HEA , is found for Kairos Jones and the billionaire Isidore Panopoulos. It’s a interesting dynamic . We get to know both men under duress, as well as Izzy’s sister, another wonderful character. This situation makes the quick development in their relationship believable as they are forced into learning about each other and having to trust each other to make decisions to ensure their escape.
The ending sets up Ed’s story, Edison’s Professor, as well as giving us a deeper perspective on Kairo’s life.
I’m looking forward to it.
If you’re a reader who enjoys action packed , ex military, espionage type of romance novels, then this is a entertaining and enjoyable book and series for you.
They should be read in order to understand the relationships and events that have happened.
Shadow Elite series: - [x] Charlie’s Doctor #1 - [x] Kairo’s Billionaire #2 - [ ] Edison’s Professor #3 - Feb 10, 2023
I love this author’s books, and am already invested in this series and its characters. The found family theme and banter is wonderful. I liked both MCs and the mix of romance and action/suspense.
I love Izzie, how he’s much more than he first appears, and his protectiveness of Kairo, who is more then capable of looking after himself. I felt for Izzie, knowing that his family were most likely behind everything, and how money is more important to them than anything else. He slots into the madness of Kairo’s found family quickly. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him going forward.
Kairo is a wonderful mix of dangerous, capable, protective, kind, and loving. I love how he and Izzie fall for each other immediately, and how he bides his time to find out what’s going on.
I also loved Izzie and Athena’s sibling relationship. And, of course, Joey and his ferret antics.
The rest of the team are capable and fun. I love the friendships, and family vibe, and the teasing that comes with that. I’m happy that Soren and Alexei are a part of this story, and huge bonus for seeing Justin and Gabriel again.
The action/suspense part of the plot is fast paced. I wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of these guys. I liked how it wasn’t obvious who was behind the kidnapping plot, and how that part of the story played out.
Kairo and the other men from his mercenary team were about to go on break after an intense job that reunited Charlie and Will. While out drinking and chatting Kairo goes to the restroom and on his way out of the restroom he is stopped, drugged and kidnapped. He wakes up very far from where he was snatched and in the company of Isidore, a desperate billionaire who needs help as he and his sister have been kidnapped and put in jeopardy. Although this is not the best way to contract his services, Kairo is willing to help. In fact, with his help he is able to get Isidore and his sister free from the kidnappers. But the danger is not over and these two have grown close and Kairo realizes that Isidore is too nice and needs not only help but a keeper. The rest of the team comes on board to help them find out and neutralize the threat to Isidore and his sister, one of them even starts to treat her as their honorary kid sister. Theirs was not an easy courtship but the commitment between them is solid. The guys in this series do not come to their love easy but they are rock solid in the corner of their men. I am looking forward to Edison's story which we got a sneak preview of at the end of this book. Especially as we finally get to meet Kairo's mother and the reunion between mother and son promises to be a hoot. I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This gave me Christmas holiday vibes, not in a typical hallmark way but with sweet and loving feelings and being together. Also, the amazing description of Greece and the house and the beaches gave me all the adventurous vibes and celebration vibes.
Kairo and Isidore are just perfect for each other. They are understanding, funny, and overprotective. They are meant to be with each other.
I loved reading about the whole team, they all have their quirkiness which made the book hilarious. Enjoyed the book immensely and there were moments where Isidore was so relatable.
