From America's Deep South come yet more uncanny tales--for example, the haunted Hampton Plantation house in South Carolina, and the restless ghost of one of its owners, John Henry Routledge. He hanged himself after being rejected by his lover. These are just two among scores of chilling tales that will keep readers turning the pages of this handsome, color-illustrated book.

I like this book for a number of reasons. First, The Ghost Handbook is a quick read and suitable for readers as young as 10 years of age. Second, the illustrations truly enhance the text without obscuring it. Third, Curran offers an intriguing combination of historical, legendary, & well-documented cases. Easy read, excellently illustrated, built-in bookmark...good stuff :)

I only wish this book had been longer. I flew through it and I wanted it to last forever. If you like quick reads this is a good one. Pretty much okay for all ages, I would have loved this as an 11 year old who thought that ghosts were the bees knees.

Sinceramente no me esperaba mucho del libro, y hice bien ya que es una guía básica que permite tener una vaga idea de los temas que toca. Esto se debe a que el autor utilizó unas 4 páginas como mucho para cada tema que abordó y por momentos incluso menos.
Si comienzo a hablar por parte del libro debo admitir que la primer parte es una porquería, no es nada que ya no se sepa. Es más, me arriesgo a decir que en Internet se puede conseguir más información y de mejor calidad. Aunque no esté escrita por "doctores"
En la segunda parte ya es un poco más interesante porque el autor contará leyendas populares de fantasmas y objetos encantados, no se centrará en un solo lugar, las historias serán de las que hay por todo el mundo. Qué si se buscan en Internet están y me atrevo, nuevamente, a decir que pueden estar más completas, con más fotografías, etc.
La tercer parte también puede tornarse incluso más entretenida que la segunda a causa de que ya dejan de ser fantasmas y pasan a hablar de objetos.
Pero como ya dije, nada que no aparezca en Internet.
Podría ser un libro mejor, con información más extensa y dedicado a un publico adulto, ya que con el contenido que tiene este podría ser leído desde el publico infantil en adelante, pero creo que a los niños les podría ser más interesante ya que hay muchas historias que probablemente desconozcan, salvo que les interese el tema e indague por Internet o dónde fuera.
Es un librito que es para tener por pinta, no me molesta tenerlo entre mis estantes porque el tema que aborda me encanta, pero como dije, no esperaba mucho y estaba demasiado barato en el oulet. Por ende, pequé, me lo traje y lo que leí en Goodreads sobre él fueron esas reseñas engañosas donde te meten 3 o 4 estrellas, que en lo personal significa que es un libro relativamente bueno, pero a medida que lees te das cuenta que el libro es una estafa y FUISTE ENGAÑADA DE NUEVO.
Como dije, un libro para pinta, pueden verlo en las fotos que adjunté en la reseña ya que en casa mi mamá y yo estamos encantadas en ese formato de libreta que tiene, la calidad del libro, de las páginas, la edición, las fotografías, etc. El tipo de letra también acompaña la temática de "terror" que buscan darle al libro pero no queda en nada, es un intento vago de guía que no aporta mucho.

Un libro que me ha gustado mucho, más que el de los vampiros de la misma colección.
Está dividido en tres partes, la primera trae información sobre fantasmas, y no me gustó porque básicamente son pamplinas y algunas hasta mal contadas, pero en cambio las dos siguientes partes me encantaron. La segunda es sobre leyendas populares de fantasmas y objetos encantados por todo el mundo. Y lo que más me gusto fue la tercera parte que es sobre lugares encantados: casas, mansiones, castillos, cuarteles, hospitales, etc. Las histirias son cortitas y variadas.
La verdad es que el libro me ha gustado mucho.

This was a cute and easy read about what spirits are and haunted places. It was a very quick read and could be finished in one sitting.

While it was interesting, I feel like I didn't learn a lot. Each place had only 2 or 3 pages, so we only got the basics on the haunted locations. Also some of the pictures were pretty cheesy and felt like they didn't fit. I'd recommend this book if you want something simple or a starting point to research different haunted places, but it's definitely skippable.

Es un libro introductorio en el mundo de los fantasmas, por tanto, todo está explicado muy brevemente, cada parte no supera las cuatro hojas.
En caso de interesarte algún lugar o caso de entes, espectros, poltergeist... Deberás buscarlo por ti mismo en otros libros o por otros medios. Aunque también existe la opcion de ir encontrando los lugares de los que habla por uno mismo.
El libro es informativo y no está mal para lo que es, pero podría contener unas explicaciones más extensas.

This was a fun, quick read during spooky season! I love how the book is separated into "Ghost Stories" and "Haunted Places", although I felt like it just ended abruptly. I wish the info provided was summarized better as I have a million questions after reading this! The illustrations and built in bookmark were definitely awesome and this book has the coolest table of contents possibly EVER!

Le doy 4'75 ⭐ porque me ha faltado profundidad en la parte de “Tipos de fantasmas”. Esperaba la amplia variedad que aparece en juegos como Demonologist o Phasmophobia. Por lo demás, está genial 🙊. Las secciones “Historias de fantasmas” y “Lugares encantados” son súper interesantes, intrigantes y espeluznantes con todas esas fotos, detalles, fechas y nombres.

Bueno si se lo quieres comprar a un chavalito de 13 años q le mola el tema el texto bastante curradete. Le daría 3 estrellas si la calidad del enmaquetado fuera buena.
