A vintage collection of Dickens’ five ‘Christmas books’ and then some twenty-one other shorter and/or lesser-known works. Honestly, I had never heard of the vast majority of these, let alone read them, excepting A Christmas Carol. So this was a truly interesting trek of discovery through an eclectic hodge-podge of stories; some with festive, supernatural, social, or nautical themes. Majority of these were also not set in the city, which made a refreshing change from his famous novels. On the other-hand some of the stories were unfinished or incomplete due to chapters written by other authors being excluded, which was a bit of a shame. However overall, a very enjoyable collection to dip in and out of, and a great find by my dad in a charity shop.
