Will had almost drowned. He woke up with a psychic gift, but he thought of it as a curse.

Because of the accident, he had been crucified in the press. He lost his girlfriend and his reputation.

Now, he was hanging out in Florida, walking on the beach, with his usual Corona in his hand. He saw her in the clouds and knew he only had minutes to save her.

5 STARS – Would Buy It For Them (lol)

The cover grabbed me and I knew I had to read this super short story. The title fits the book to a tee.

The book mentions Michigan and Florida, two places I am very familiar with. That always peaks my interest.

The book captured me from the first page. I devoured it, the suspense leading me to race through it to find out what was going to happen. I was so disappointed when it came to an end. There was so much I read into the story, I feel this could easily have been developed into a novel. I would love to read more about Will, his life and the people who call out to him through his psychic connection to them.

Excellent writing. I am amazed that so much was packed into a story that it took me (maybe) ten minutes to read. I felt like I knew Will and what he was going through. I definitely want to read more from this author.

I had this in my read to review folder, but I believe I got it on an Amazon freebie day. I put it in the folder, because I had a very good feeling about it and wanted to make sure I didn’t forget about it. I didn’t want to lose it in my humongous list of books on my Kindle. LOL

In Bain’s book, slightly psychic U.S. Marshal Will Castleton’s tropical vacation proves to offer no escape to his past. He experiences a vision and is determined that he will not fail as he has in the past. Racing against time and the elements, he is determined to save the life a woman in peril.

This is a worthwhile read, well written and filled with intrigue.

A cop on recovery after an investigation gone wrong finds himself in the middle of another situation. This short story provides a look into the main character who is featured in several of the Author's other books.

Will is a US Marshall with special abilities. At times he considers his ‘gift’ a curse, but there are times when it proves helpful to safe lives or, at least, give comfort at the end of life. In this novella, Will returns to the Florida Keys where he lost a friend to a boating accident years before. Will realizes he is being followed by a news reporter whose article lambasted Will even though the investigation into the boating accident proved he did all he could.

Will has recently been declared a hero for saving a life. Will didn’t ask for the gift and doesn’t seek to be a hero. But when he hears a cry for help, he can’t ignore it either.

I enjoyed Will as a character even though his drinking is out of control. Still, I am glad I read this short story as I would like to read a fuller novel about Will’s struggles and successes. I recommend this to those who like mysteries with a paranormal gift.

Short story providing an insight into cop Will Castleton, who features in some of Bain’s other books. I’m not always a fan of short stories but this was pretty good on the whole.

The following evaluation is my own estimation and not a paid evaluation. To shape your personal opinions please support the author and acquire your own legal copy of this book. Books that are gifts to me do not assurance a positive appraise.

This book is a prequel to a series. I knew this when I downloaded this digital book. While it is hard from some authors to write a short book that, will make or want the reader to read or purchase more books. I believe this author has captured that in this book. I want to know more about the characters. I want to know what happens next.

The main character in this book Will Castleton is a U.S Marshal. He is trying to get past something horrible that he found in his career. While on a sabbatical Will, is hounded by a reporter that wants to get the inside details of the case. Maybe it is me but if I was Will I would beat the life out of this reporter. Some people in the media do not know when to stop and let something go. They are like a dog with a bone; they will never give up on a story.

I am not going to give any more details about this book. To do so would give everything away. That is the screwy part about trying to write a review for short stories. It is so hard to write a review.

"An Intense Preview of A Great Story"

This is a very short thriller that gives you a good sample of Author David Bain's fine writing and storytelling. Receiving a call from friend, Mazie, Will Castleton explains to her that he's taking a break to relax in the Sunshine State, specifically at Gamer's Key in Florida. She questions his sanity wondering why he would be back on the island that has many ghosts he may have to face. Will is a U.S. Marshal, and he also tends to be psychic. Coming back from the 7-11 store with a case of Corona Beer, he recognizes a car and driver following him, Shane Lehman, a reporter for the Biscayne Beacon. Seeing Lehman brings back the memories of Will trying to save from drowning his best friend, Brad, seven years ago. Brad's ghost is still out to sea, calling to him. This is an intriguing, well written story of the ghosts who haunt Will Castleton. I loved it, and I'll be moving on to the full length novel, Death Sight," another Will Castleton mystery.

Island Ghosts

This was a short ..very short book. Only about 35 pages. Other than it was short I can't say anything bad about it. The book starts off with a Marshal that is physic. The 1st time he got a vision, his best friend dies and he is blamed and then proved innocent. Later he catches a guy torturing a girl, but he feels guilty because he didn't find him early enough. Now he is following another vision and he id determined to caught this one in time.

This was a worth wile read, very well done and pretty exciting. I wish it would have been longer but I knew that part going in. So anyone looking for a good story, check this one out.

Will Castleton is US Marshall with psychic abilities, and David Bain is the community college English professor who created him. Both seem like interesting characters; Castleton with his sometimes-too-late “visions” of crime victims, and Bain with his ability to carve out a niche for himself in the self-pubbed crime fiction genre. Island Ghosts is a fast, fun Castleton adventure, and certainly a cut above the usual independent author offerings, and an excellent read for a freebie. Island Ghosts doesn’t have the most original characters or concepts, (there’s a ’80s television crime drama vibe running through this story that’s both cheesy and endearing) and the prose gets a bit purple at times, but Bain’s hardboiled style makes it work.

Island Ghosts: A Will Castleton Adventure centers around U.S. Marshal Will Castleton while he's on vacation. After a past trauma, Mr. Castleton now has psychic glimpses of future victims which leads him through a hurricane as he tries to save a woman's life.

David Bain's has a keeper of a character with Will Castleton and look forward to reading more of the series to come.

Well-written short story of U.S. Marshal Will Castleton, detailing how history repeats itself for him in Florida after a seven year absence. The descriptions of the landscapes are well-drawn and descriptive, with the reader feeling that they can actually 'see' the various story locales vividly. The conclusion is satisfying, and ends the story at an appropriate time.

I found this story of a psychic cop enjoyable but on my Kindle it was over at 53% which I was not expecting.
That said, the story was fast paced, the character of Will Castleton is interesting enough to make me want to read more of his story.
A job well done but be aware - this is a VERY short story.

Very good story and enjoyed the lead charactor. The only problem with the book was it was way to short for this type of book. I will be reading other "Will Castleton Adventures." I recommend this book.

This was well written and kept me glued. The characters stand alive. The story line was believable and very very interesting. I really enjoyed this book even though it is a short story, I thought it was just right. The author is new for me but I look forward to more from him.

A great short. Felt like this was more of a teaser though and felt incomplete in terms of background and it ended all too quickly. Still a good read though. N.B. you won't find any ghosts in this story

Tragedy brought on a gift… or … a curse.

Where were the ghosts?

**I’m behind in my predicted book reading count for this years.. so small reads like this will help me boost my numbers.

I'm confused. I downloaded the free Nook version of this book. It started with a long excerpt of another title of David Bain's, and NEVER got to Island Ghosts! Am I missing something?
