Draci #1

Ossessione aliena

Rate this book

Cosa? No! No, non può essere vero!
Ma la debole protesta che sorge in me viene soffocata subito.
Il grido del desiderio è molto più Mia, mia, mia, mia, mia, MIA, MIA.

About the author

Stasia Black

80 books2,107 followers
Stasia was born in Georgia, grew up in Texas, recently spent a freezing five-year stint in Minnesota, and now is happily planted in sunny California, which she will never, ever leave.

She loves writing, reading, listening to podcasts, and has recently taken up biking after a twenty-year sabbatical (and has the bumps and bruises to prove it). She lives with her own personal cheerleader, aka, her handsome husband, and their teenage son. Wow. Typing that makes her feel old. And writing about herself in the third person makes her feel a little like a nutjob, but ahem! Where were we?

Stasia’s drawn to romantic stories that don’t take the easy way out. She wants to see beneath people’s veneer and poke into their dark places, their twisted motives, and their deepest desires. Basically, she wants to create characters that make readers alternately laugh, cry ugly tears, want to toss their kindles across the room, and then declare they have a new FBB (forever book boyfriend).

It was ok. Might read the next one. I think Ruby Dixon has ruined me. It's hard for me to like any other alien sci fi romances because she is the queen 👑

Terrific alien romance story, though short!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🩵🖤❤️💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☹️☺️😍😄
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Shak - he is from an alien race called Draci, and his civilization is dying. He is the bastard son of the king of the Draci, and is considered low standing, or caste. He lives on a ship that is orbiting Earth, and his people have come up with a plan to use genetic manipulation to make themselves look like a human so they can go down to Earth and impregnate human females. They have chosen a female that has the perfect genetics.

The heroine: Juliet - she is a student with a best friend that gets into all of the conspiracy theories on the dark web. When her friend tells her to meet at a local coffee shop for an emergency, she isn’t too surprised to find out that the emergency has to do with the fact that she has picked up chatter on the dark web that aliens are among us. She is able to talk her friend down. Juliet lives with her boyfriend Robbie, who is controlling and abusive. She knows she should leave him, but never does, because the one time she tried, he found her and beat her worse than ever.

The Story: When Shak goes to a coffee shop to meet the female that was chosen for him to try and mate with, he runs into Juliet and feels a possessive attraction to her immediately. He knows that she is the one that he wants and immediately changes his pursuit to her. Though he is a bit put back when he follows her home and finds that she is already in a relationship. But he isn’t deterred and when he sees the man hit Juliet, he decides to take action.

I liked this story because it was different than many alien romances in that it took place on Earth. Plus, the fact that Juliet doesn’t know that Shak is an alien. This was a pretty short book, but I liked the characters and the storyline. There were some surprises in this one, and I really liked the way that Juliet finds out that Shak is not a normal human being.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Bridget Bordeaux and Jake Bordeaux. They both have nice voices and are decent narrators, though aren’t in my list of favorite narrators. They do a fine job, but like most, don’t have great voices for the opposite sex, so this would have been much better done in duet narration.

Bad writing and horrible romance development

The start of the story was pretty well done and good world building but somehow as the story progressed everything went downhill from there. It started reading as a fanfic rather than an actual story. I appreciate the realistic conflict between the characters but the author fails at using that conflict to actually build their relationship up and make it more strong. SPOILERS AHEAD YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

I don't have anything against authors that use mind melding or joining during mating but it needs to be done right. Some authors use this as the last resource for intimacy between characters and for good reason. If you use this as a way to build the relationship between the two characters and then later use the same technique to help smooth over any conflict the two characters had, it really takes away from the story and obstacles the hero and heroine face in their relationship. It just reads as lazy and unimaginative writing by resorting to mind melding during sex to help them sort out their miscommunication and differences.

Don't even get me started on the finale of the book. I had to put the book down and take a breather because how ludicrous and stupid the final scenes of the book were. Sometimes I think authors misjudge the intelligence of their readers. The scene where the hero is arrested for the supposed murder of the king is an example of such a scene.
Do you really expect me to believe that a ancient dragon alien race that has the scientific developments to help them survive years in outer space until they travel to the outer reaches of their space map/galaxy to be so incompetent by not investigating the king's death but going by word of mouth of the queen? The author doesn't even explain how the king died in such a short while when shak is on his way towards his mate? Was it freaking voodoo?! To just go on the assumption that the reader will fill in the blanks of such a HUGE royal conspiracy is really lazy writing. Call me crazy but I would like to think that a civilization as advanced as the draci would rely on the tools and evidence available before sentencing someone to death because she (the queen) said so.

Character development was almost non existant.

And this is just a personal pet peeve of mine, but usually when I read a sci-fi romance it is largely because I want to read of the relationship development between an actual HUMAN and Alien. That in itself is author's goldmine for conflict and relationship building. I really loathe it when an author decide to wipe away such a massive hurdle in their relationship by somehow transferring the human into an alien because of the baby or impregnation. It is like making a mockery of whatever hurdles the human-alien couple has gone through by negating the whole conflict as a whole. It is a easy fix and reads as very unimaginative and uncreative. I would think that a human-alien couple that experience and overcome their individual differences are much more admirable than an alien-human-turned-alien couple. But that is just me.

I went into this book not know what I was getting into — just knowing that I am a massive fan of Stacia Black and Aliena Romance.

I have to say that I was a little not confused just bewildered maybe is the right word at first, but when it comes to these types of books, you usually can get that way. We have an alien race that needs the human race to regenerate their population. One and only one has been chosen to go down to Earth to see if it will work.

Juliet is that chosen woman but only because Shak's hormones tell him so. However, she is in a horrible relationship and doesn't trust men. So when Shak shows up everywhere she is, she takes his friendship as it is.

This story is a little different and slow, but once you get into it, it will grab at your heartstrings and pull.

This was an excellent read. Just loved this book. Shak and Juliet have insane chemistry from the moment they meet. I loved Shak's elegant, mannered, perfect English that mixed in with his alien/Draci side. Juliet is a strong young woman with lots of trust issues and a not so pleasant past. Their relationship builds nicely and the steamy romance was so well done. Now I must read the next book in the series! Highly recommended.

Stasia Black is known for her darker stories but this is a lighter, sexy alien “Mars Needs Women” romance. Shak is chosen to be the first Draconi go down to earth and find a woman to reproduce with. That sounds pretty cold and mercenary, but what Shak does is anything but clinical.

Unfortunately, my appreciation for Shak ended when he tasted stout beer for the first time, spit it out and scornfully said he’d never tasted “a more foul brew.” So, obviously, we’ve just established that Shak is certifiably insane.

Shak’s a hardened warrior and a lethal killing machine but under that reptilian-armored skin, he’s also woefully innocent about women. Their scientists tinkered around with their biology and took it too far, leaving them sterile. They think sex is only for reproduction, so he has zero experience. Falling for a woman is new to Shak—and a little confusing at times, but his enthusiasm, his snake-like tongue and his very non-human ‘package’ make up for any lack of experience.

Shak is a Draci who has taken treatments to make him more human appearing and change some DNA so his kind can mate with humans and have babies. Juliet bumps into Shak in the coffee shop and Shak, scenting Julie through his tongue, knows that she is his mate. Both Shak and Julie have troubled pasts but they try hard to work through that and enjoy the connection that they obviously have with each other. Surprisingly, Shak, the Draci have dual appendages ( junk) which is surprising and shocking for Julie, but a girl knows a good thing when she sees them. There are quite a few problens that the couple need to deal with and some surprising situations we don't see coming but rest
assured, we do get a HEA in the end with a peek at the possible next story coming.
I enjoyed this first Alien/Human story and looking forward to more!

Growing wings, but the heroine still crashed in personality.

Nothing overly creative or unique in this series start. Spoilerish content to justify rating.
Aliens hover earth and alter some of their DNA and looks to blend with humans to find mates. They think they’ll be mindless breeders pretty much. But the guinea pig first alien comes to realize they aren’t.
2 Peen packing alien species. Shak, the H, only puts both of his to use in one scene near end of book.
The h, Juliet, is semi resistant cause she has a human bf. that gets handled quickly and she gives Shak a chance.
They have s e x and he gets her pregnant that night. The next morning her skin is changing to scales.
She flips out. Yells at him. Doesn’t believe him.
She’s kidnapped by other of his species. Queen kills the King blah blah blah.
Then Juliet grows wings and is pretty much loooking and sounding like an alien herself. So long human!
I’ll try the next in this series. But I won’t be hunting it down.

When a planned accidental meeting goes sideways...Shak and Juliet have this instant thing going on, and their trip to true love is a blast to read. I loved the pure escapism and was reminded again of that old Geena Davis movie, Earth Girls Are Easy, but these aliens have no preconceived ideas of what earth women are supposed to be like in a relationship aside from what they've learned from old movies and songs. It's a cool story, lots of hot, double package, triple stamina, total escapism sex, which makes for some fast reading anyway, but the story also has violence, and fighting and political intrigue. Add in the scientific alterations and the intense sibling rivalry, and needless to say, this story was hard to put down! I loved it, it was fun to read and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!

Stealth Alien Arrival Story!! 4.5 stars

A trio of girlfriends. Ana believes they are in danger from aliens and Juliet has a crappy boyfriend.
An alien (hope that’s not a spoiler) Shak goes through extraordinary measures to be able to pass as human. He is to target Giselle as his intended, but Juliet is “the one”.

When he sees Juliet being hurt, Shak “takes care” of the abusive boyfriend, and pursues a relationship with her. Interesting twist on the alien mate theme, as we do not know are among us!!

Entertaining read – great setup for the next book.

Juliet is in an abusive relationship and Shak is an alien looking for a human female to breed with or his race could die out. Shak rescues her and sparks fly but with other’s be happy they found each other? Fast-paced sci-fi read with loads of drama and suspense. The chemistry is off the charts hot and the story entertaining. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Adult, Erotic, Sci Fi Romance

First person; dual-POV

Book #1 of the Draci series.

Addictiveness: 3.5/5 This was a fun, fast read that offered some good laughs and some great steamy scenes. As addictive as melted cheese!

Character: hero 4/5, heroine 4/5, secondary characters 4/5, growth 4/5, real 2/5 Good characters with a little bit of growth.

Shak was my favorite. He was an alien trying to save his species by being the first to join humans on Earth, to find his mate and procreate. He went through genetic therapy so he could become "human like" and look alike humans. I had a lot of LOL moments with him. Even when they were in peril or being serious, he cracked me up. I'm not even going to mention all his attributes, because you need to read to find out.

Juliet has had a tough life. She has been part of an abusive relationship for so long that she didn't like, trusted or wanted men. She had some crazy moments, but I have to agree that what was happening to her was scary. She ended up being a really good heroine when needed.

Several interesting secondary characters, as I already have three or for characters that I would like to read their story.

The villain was a bit unexpected, which I've liked it. Most of the story was pointing out to one character and then it was a different one. Good twist!

These characters were not very complex, but they were easy to love, connect and understand.

Cover: art 4/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 5/5  I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. This cover is pretty and it works for this book. I see the hero, I could guess the sci fi vibe of the story, it has used good coloring and font. The title is very pertinent and true! I would buy this book by its cover!

Freshness: 4/5 This was an interesting book with a few unique moments. It is not so different from all the alien's romance out there, but it has a few one-of-a-kind moment. As fresh as mint tea!!!

Plot: believable 2.5/5, conflict 4/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 4/5, opening 4/5, pace 5/5, setting 4/5, subplots 3.5/5, twists 5/5  Interesting opening and amazing ending. An unbelievable plot that is so fun that we don't really care for plausibility. Dialogues well written, with a fast-paced plot and a few ok subplots. The setting could have been better explored, but the twists were really good and elevated this story into to another level. Good level of satisfaction!!!

Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 5/5, development 4/5, steam 5/5  This was the star of the book. Really, this was a romantic story. It was ista-love, but it felt believable, even for aliens :). Seriously, the couple had chemistry and the hero was an alien gentleman. He really knew how to treat a lady and that was what got Juliet in love with him. The heat was on! Very alien steamy scenes, that are panty-wetting worthy!

Writing Style: 4/5 I love the author and I've read a lot of her books. One thing that I love about her writing is that she writes in a variety of different genres and the core of her stories are always good. She has made me feel in some books, in others like this one, she made me LOL. Crafty writing!

I wanted to understand better these aliens, to know more of their world and their differences from humans. I guess because the book is not very long, we don't get a very well rounded background.

Stasia is synonym of a good steamy time. Her romances are always hot, dirty and beautifully done.

Very likable characters that made me LOL that made them very easy to connect.

Can't wait to read the next book!!!

28.5/35 STARS –  4 STARS (between 28 stars and 31 stars)

Addictiveness: 3.5 Character: 4 Cover: 4 Freshness: 4  Plot: 3.5 Romance: 5 Writing Style: 4.5

Action 3/5

Angst 2/5

Darkness 0/5

Humor 4/5

Romance 5/5

Suspense/Mystery 2/5

Would I recommend? Yes. If you enjoy steamy, fun romance!!!

Would I re-read this book/series? Maybe. Depends what will I remember while reading the series.

Would I read more from the author? I read all her books!

You MAY read this because you like the author; you SHOULD read this because you enjoy sexy aliens; you MUST read this because it is pure entertainment!!!

Plot: 3.5/5 - Lots of creative elements and interesting choices.

Romance: 3.5/5 - Too fast and neither character was relatable or likable to me, although I'm sure they could be for others.

Steam: 3.5/5 - Again, probably just a me thing since I didn't vibe with the MCs.

This was my second read through of this book. I either liked it much better in the first round or misremembered it as the 1st in a series I was waiting for the 3rd part to. Book 3 in this series just came out and I was super excited to refresh my memories of the earlier books before I read the newest one. Maybe I'd built it up too much or maybe I'm thinking of the wrong series, either way I was kinda let down.

I don't think I'd wanna reread this one but I enjoyed my reread of the 2nd book and I'm liking the 3rd so far. Stasia Black has been hit or miss for me so I think I'll generally be open to giving her books a shot.

This book has it all. 3.5 STARS

I can't believe that Stasis Black managed to put so much into a book and not over do it to the point you just lose the story. My Allen's Obsession includes such much while still telling a very enjoyable tale. Just to name a few you have a dying alien home world, infertile female, and abusive boyfriend in a Biker club. Oh and a kidnapping.
For such a short tale with so much in it I find it great that the only negative thing I can say about it is that the falling climax to the end is so short. But if it were any longer the book would have to be. I love that the tale has closer and leads perfectly into the next book.

Entertaining and easy read

Shak is an alien going to Earth in the hopes of saving his race. He had no intention of finding his mate or becoming obsessed with everything she does. Juliet however has had enough crazy dead beat boyfriends in her past to even think about Shak. But how can she not be attracted to the honest and sweet man? That is until she finds out all his lies... Juliet and Shak are trying to figure each other out while those around them are trying to destroy them. Very quick and easy read with enough balance of sexy scenes and action.
