I purchased this book as soon as I saw it because I am a sucker for cross-dressing characters. This is the first book I have read by Jambrea, and I must say that I will be reading more. I loved the style and the characters. Unfortunately, I had problems with the sex scenes and the resolution of the conflict in light of the "It gets better" theme.
Let's talk about the sex scenes. I can buy (or at least suspend disbelief for) one magical, hands free, friction free orgasm early in a relationship. However, after the third magic orgasm I was rolling my eyes instead of enjoying the scene. I loved the descriptions of Piper in wearing his frilly underthings but the hands free, rub free, penetration free orgasms need to go.
In terms of plot, this is a highly dramatic contemporary with almost yaoi-like, unrealistic angst and action scenes (bridge scene, shooting scene). I enjoy overly dramatic, soap opera style plots, but I have a problem with linking such a plot to the "It gets better" tagline. Yes, I believe that for most LGBT youth it does get better, but the road there is not a straight (no pun intended) path to happiness, and hopefully it doesn't involve an all out family shooting. Real life is not a fairy tale, even for those of us who found true love. When I was a depressed youth, I would have considered this book to be a wall-banger rather than an uplifting story. I suggest staying away from the "It Gets Better" tagline for fiction, unless the story is highly realistic or based on "true life" events. In this story, all problems disappeared way too easily.
Bottom line, if you are looking for a realistic contemporary this is not it. However, if you can suspend disbelief and enjoy a highly romantic yarn featuring a tattoed, pierced, handsome bear of a man, and a beautiful, cross-dressing young man in need of love, then this book will keep you turning pages and leave you with a smile.

Sometimes reading a fairy tale is just what I need. Getting my hands on one that plays out in the modern world is a treat, and Rayne’s Wild Ride fits the bill. The story is sweet, uncomplicated, and focuses on the mutual adoration and quickly developing love between two very different men.
Rayne looks like a rough guy, more of a biker than a lover, but he has a heart of gold. Even though there is lots of love in his life (from his siblings), he wants more. Loving and being loved by someone special, a guy all his own, is something he cannot imagine until he meets Piper. Romantic love is what Rayne wants and he will do anything to earn it.
Piper is the exact opposite of Rayne in many ways. Physically (with his slight build), mentally (with his expectation of being used rather than appreciated) and emotionally, never having known any type of love at all. He has trouble believing his luck, as anyone in his situation would. His struggle to accept Rayne’s love as well as his efforts to become truly independent made him a very endearing character.
The crisis, when it happens, is very dramatic, but this is a fairy tale, so allowances can be made if you are so inclined. While this story will not be for everyone, if you like sweet stories with a very happy end, are in the mood for a nice, uncomplicated read and like guys who make you want to hug them, you will probably like this book.

Okay, so I wasn't going to review this book at all because of various reasons. However, I had a very pleasant and professional exchange with the author and my biggest concern was put to rest.
In any case, I was so excited to read this book. It's not often that a crossdressing main character is written, so if I find a book about a crossdresser it makes me happy.
The story is about Piper, a young man whose abusive father and alcoholic mother dicovers that he likes to dress in women's clothing. He's thrown out of his house and decides to kill himself by jumping off of a bridge. While Piper's thinking about jumping he's stopped by Rayne, a burly biker who takes Piper home and helps Piper start on the road to a new and better life.
I definitely saw that Jambrea Jo Jones was writing a story that she wanted to be uplifting. Unfortuantely, the tone of the story was so light that it became a bit of a fairy tale. Rayne comes along and coaxes Piper down off of the ledge of the bridge by offering a kiss. The kiss become passionate and Rayne is fiercely attracted to Piper.
My problem with the story was that Jambrea was tackling very serious issues yet I did not feel as if the tone of the story matched the gravity of the situations she wrote about. The kiss at the beginning of the book was portrayed as being sexy and Rayne is thinking about how attracted he is to this man who's about to kill himself. In my opinion, that kind of romantic passion should not really be present in a scene where someone is thinking about killing themself. I was very put off by that first scene and it set the tone for my reaction to the book.
Unfortunately, this book was just not for me. I would like to say though that I'm very thankful Jambrea wrote a crossdressing character and I hope she continues to write characters that aren't usually seen in gay romance. Like I said, through my exchange with her, I really feel like she's interested in perfecting her craft so I will be trying the next book she releases.

Ranyne and Piper meet on a bridge that Piper’s about to jump off of. Piper has reached the end, he’s a sweet young lad who just wants to be accepted for himself, frilly undies, wig, skirt and all. Rayne is a big gentle bear of a guy who wants to show Piper the love he’s never had. I found this a fun, quick read mainly because I took to Piper and his cross dressing kink. There were a lot of secondary characters who couldn’t really get their due because of the story’s brevity and the rest of it is pretty standard fare.

Like others have expressed in reviews, I really liked the concept of this novel but for me, the light-hearted tone of the book didn't match the serious issues being covered. I also noticed a couple of continuity errors - which made me go back to check if I had missed something or if I had misread it - I hadn't. That said, I hope this author continues to hone her craft and finds a good editor, as I think she has something to offer. I'll certainly be watching out for more from her.

I like cross dressing characters and this one was cute!
Now, that said, I did need to suspend disbelief for parts of the story, but I enjoyed Piper and Ray and would read more about them!

This story was a bit like a modern day fairytale, except the hero rides in on his motorcycle instead of a white horse and the heroine is actually a young man mistaken for a girl because of his features, long hair, and the fact that he likes to cross dress. I’d have loved more time for the story and relationship to develop, but I enjoyed it regardless!

This unique story of two opposites that attract one another had me hooked after only the first chapter and kept me spellbound throughout.
Rayne’s Wild Ride by Jambrea Jo Jones is a modern day fairy tale where the hero rides in on his motorcycle and saves the languishing prince from death. However Ms. Jones has put an extraordinary twist on this premise. This story is about two men, who are like night and day from each other in almost every possible way. Ms. Jones has created a romance between two unlikely characters that expresses two major themes, acceptance and the importance of family.
Rayne Carr, AKA Ray, is a big burly biker complete with tattoos, piercings and a beard. He's a big bear of a man and yet readers are given the impression he's a teddy bear. I couldn't help but love Ray with his kind and giving heart and his healthy attitude on life and love. Ray wants nothing more than to be everything for his large family and ensure they're loved and cared for, in doing so, he puts everyone's needs before his own. Ray is the alpha male hero who discovers the love of his life one fateful night and is determined enough to reach out and hang on to his heart’s desire.
Charles Sylvester Piper III, AKA Piper, is a troubled and confused young man who's struggling with his identity. Piper is gay and likes to wear women's clothes sometimes, especially women's underwear. They make him feel sexy and somehow complete but his fetish is a secret no one else knows about. Until one fateful night when his little brother discovers him dressed like a woman and the chain of events that occur will change Piper's life forever. Piper is at a major turning point in his life and with the arrival of Ray at this pivotal point he discovers happiness and love is possible.
This story was very emotional and pulled at my heartstrings right from the get go. Piper is dealing with the issues of discovering who he really is and what wants his life to be or not to be. Ms. Jones managed to send me on an emotional roller coaster ride, I felt sadness, extreme anger and outrage, happiness and above all, the love shared between two people who seemed destined to be together. An unusual set of circumstances bring Rayne and Piper together but their feelings for each other will cement the bond they share with one another.
Rayne’s Wild Ride is a fast paced story with a great deal of attention to the dialogue and thoughts of the two main characters that kept me engaged throughout this thought provoking story. I would have liked to have had a little more description to the settings so I wasn’t given as much free reign with my imagination, but ultimately I think this technique kept me even more involved in the unfolding events. The relationship between Ray and Piper developed very quickly. The action leading up to the extreme climax moved like lightning with the finale like a giant clap of thunder that left me breathless with its intensity and shocking revelation.
It was a very exciting story, but with that, there were some quickly resolved issues with some of the secondary characters that were not quite believable. My hope is that this author will go back and expand on this story or follow up this story with another that will tie-up those loose ends to satisfy her readers. Overall this story was about Ray and Piper and Ms. Jones penned a romantic fairy tale for them that I really enjoyed. Her style of writing is unique and appealing for someone who reads a lot and would like something just a little different from the norm.

I loved the cover of this book and the overall message. Like a lot of other reviewers, my biggest issues with the story is that it went too fast, and it had very serious issues that weren't adequately addressed.
Rayne is riding his bike on a bridge when he comes across a lovely woman planning on jumping. Rayne is a wonderful character who is dependable and loving. He is one of my favorite parts of the story. When he finds out that Piper is a man in women's clothes, he is not phased and is still fiercely attracted. This opening scene felt a bit odd to me. Here we have a very serious situation but it is almost overshadowed by the attraction and the kissing scene. I think I would have preferred for Rayne to handle the situation the way a real life person would have - talking calmly and sincerely. I doubt that no matter how attracted someone is to a jumper, they would ask for a kiss right off the bat. It just seemed inappropriate for the situation to me.
I liked that this book tried to address some serious and interesting topics. Obviously Piper is having major life issues if he is getting ready to jump from a bridge, but I felt there wasn't quite enough back story to that and everything felt glossed over or rushed. There were just so many underdeveloped aspects to this story. The story length simply did not do it justice.
I'm not a huge fan of insta-love scenarios. I think that adds to the feeling of this story being rushed. Is Piper infatuated with Rayne because he fulfills the Knight in shining armor role so nicely?
I think the secondary characters, Piper's aunt and Rayne's siblings, were really good additions to the story, but again, I felt a lack of development all around. These characters could have been really strong secondary characters. I think the aunt was on the way to becoming a solid character, but I would have liked to see her try to get involved with her sister's family a little more - maybe fight to help get Sam out of there and keep trying to get her sister to rehab. And I found it interesting that Piper's parents weren't developed at all.
This story had a lot of potential but it was too rushed and then kind of fizzled out at the end. Even the epilogue was a bit lackluster and didn't really add anything to the story.
In summary, this book addressed interesting and serious topics (cross-dressing, suicide, abuse, alcholism) but the plot and all of these topics were underdeveloped. I liked Rayne a lot and Piper was sweet, but their relationship was rushed to me. The secondary characters had a lot of unrealized potential. This book had a lot of possibilities, but in my opinion the execution wasn't quite there.

Piper is a 22-year-old man, he’s gay, and he likes dressing in woman’s clothes. When he’s discovered by his father he suffers a violent scene and gets thrown out. In a moment of emotional instability, Piper decides to end his misery by jumping off of a bridge. A biker passing by sees him and in his attempt to stop him asks for a kiss. Piper has never had a kiss and can’t resist the temptation of having at least one before he ends his life.
Ray can’t believe the lighting that strokes him by this woman’s kiss. Such a passionate person should not be trying to end her life and he makes it up his mind to do his best to help her… or him, as it turns out the gorgeous woman is a man dressed up…a stunning one that is.
This is how the story starts and it follows the efforts of Piper finding himself and standing on his feet, accepting all that he is. On one side, his dysfunctional family with a violent father, a drunken mother, and an uncaring brother. On the other, there’s Ray, a big bear of a man who seems not only to have no problem with Piper’s kink, but finding him actually hot. And Ray’s family, of course, that is the exact opposite of his. They are caring, accepting, and giving.
Piper’s character was fairly emotional and confused. Although he is 22 years old, he’s very much innocent, being in the closet for so many years and having constant fear of his father in every corner. I would have loved this story to be a bit darker, a bit more real perhaps. It flows so light and that makes no justice for the protagonist’s background.
Ray, on the other hand, is the very essence of sunshine. He’s literally the incarnation of a guardian angel. He shows up, saves the helpless Piper and sticks by him as if they’d known each other for years. At least they make up with their intimate moments. They do look good together and the sexual scenes that follow are hot and cute at the same time.
All in all, this was a fairytale, a romance that had the Snow-white, the Prince, the “dwarfs” and the evil Witch. Not entirely my thing, but if you’re into romance with a smooth, flowing plot this is your book for you.

Although he is 22 years old, he’s very much innocent, being in the closet for so many years and having constant fear of his father in every corner. I would have loved this story to be a bit darker, a bit more real perhaps. It flows so light and that makes no justice for the protagonist’s background.
Ray, on the other hand, is the very essence of sunshine. He’s literally the incarnation of a guardian angel. He shows up, saves the helpless Piper and sticks by him as if they’d known each other for years. At least they make up with their intimate moments. They do look good together and the sexual scenes that follow are hot and cute at the same time.
All in all, this was a fairytale, a romance that had the Snow-white, the Prince, the “dwarfs” and the evil Witch. Not entirely my thing, but if you’re into romance with a smooth, flowing plot this is your book for you.

Rayne works hard to to keep his family together in the home he and his siblings grew up in. Family is a huge part of Rayne’s life. He enjoys the closeness and craziness that is his life at home. He doesn’t necessarily enjoy working two jobs but the ride home on his motorcycle allows for the wind therapy to take his mind off of the serious side of life.
The family life at Piper’s home is quite different than that of Rayne’s. It is that difference that puts Piper on the path he is currently on. It is that stress that literally puts Piper right into Rayne’s arms. In all of Piper’s confusion about how to handle his family he finds himself inside the warmth and understanding of Rayne’s family.
The romance between Rayne and Piper moves at a quick rate. It’s sweet and perfect. Considering how they met and how Piper’s family handles the conflict at the end of the novella it just didn’t match. There were some really dark things surrounding by this brand new and shiny love. It is still an enjoyable read.
When I grabbed this title I’ll admit that the “transgender” label is what grabbed my attention. I may be wrong but Rayne’s Wild Ride didn’t fit that to me. Piper gave me the impressions that he just liked to wear lacey lady clothing. That alone was still something new to the gay romance mix for me and I always enjoy finding something new and different.

This story had potential, but given the seriousness of the Piper's situation the story just moved too fast. Things worked out too easily. I didn't buy the insta-love. The story would've been better if there had been more development of their relationship between their meeting/Piper's suicide attempt and falling in love.
I also had some major questions about how the adults in the situation handled Piper's younger brother. The mother is an alcoholic and the father is abusing Piper, but there's no looking into Sam's welfare? They just left him there? No call to social services? I get that he was mean to Piper and seemed to be on the parents, but the chances that Piper was the only one being abused had to be low. That's not how abuse works. And that none of the adults more removed from the situation didn't say anything or think that, was unforgivable to me. And then with the big ending, it just made it worse.
I get wanting to do a light or uplifting story, but this was too light and simple for the reality of the situation.

It’s a good idea to not read this looking for a serious story. Read it as a sweet little fantasy and you’ll be fine. There’s some stuff that should have been caught in editing, but overall the story is cute, if simple.
I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the protagonists. Based on some of the less favourable reviews I’d expected lack of reasonable behaviour and common sense. Yeah, things still are not exactly realistic, but both guys make more sense to me than I am used to from the sub-average (and sometimes even the average) in the genre. Plus they’re both kind of adorable.
To be honest, I can’t seem to get over the fact that neither is stupid. What the hell have I been reading lately to be this starved?
Hm, but I think the ending would work much better if the preceding time jump had been a little longer than the two or three weeks given. Time for the two to get to know each other a bit better, so that the closeness at the end makes more sense.

OMG I loved this book. Rayne (Ray) is a sexy bad ass biker/bartender/construction worker who happens to be coming home from work one night to rescue a woman about to jump off a bridge to her death. Piper is a beautiful man who feels sexiest when he is wearing womens lingere and clothing. He is also a young man who has suffered abuse from his father until he feels there is nothing left for him to live for. Luckily for Piper, along comes Ray to save the day and in doing so they fall for one another. This story is sexy as hell and I love that Ray is turned on by Pipers kinky lingere fetish. The sex is incredible between the two of them and Rays family is absolutely wonderful. Great book!!

Rayne meets Piper on the lowest day of his life. What follows is a wonderful story of Pip getting strong and Rayne being there to guide him. The two are there for each other during hard times and know how to help each other. This was my first story by Jambrea Jo Jones and I am eager to read more of her books! Loved this story and how it showed that it does get better.

This was a sweet short story. Go into it suspending your disbelief - it's not likely that a bisexual biker would end up stopping a cross dressing gay man from jumping off a bridge by asking for a kiss. However, if you can accept the premise, I think you'll enjoy this one.

That is such a sweet read, if you need a book to cheer you up, that is beautiful and optimistic then read it. I loved it!
And it's great that Piper is a crossdresser, you have that far too seldom in books!!

Honestly, I really wanted to like this book. Good idea, good characters, but if I got told one more time what the characters were thinking, rather than being allowed to work out some of the obvious for myself, I was going to do damage to my ereader

I really love stories that have cross dressers in them, and this was a fun read. I do think that things were a bit too easy and light hearted for Piper once Rayne came into his life...just a bit too easy to be realistic. Still, a fun, sweet read.

I really wanted to like this. But Rayne and Piper felt like cardboard characters, and the writing was a bit basic. And they moved from first meeting to commitment with little time together. I liked the idea, but it needed more depth and development.

I don't know why, but I really like this authors style of writing. This story was interesting and more detail about the characters and storyline could have been added. A 3.5 rating. Very sweet!
