Samantha Sweet is a widowed mother of three who decides it's time to leave the city and go back to the provincial little town of Peabody, OH where she spent the first eighteen years of her life. Anxious to start a new life, Samantha decides to open up a business of her own, and throws herself into making the dream a reality. But along the way, there are plenty of obstacles popping up to make life a little more challenging than she expected - nosy neighbors and cranky in-laws, attractive men and pretentious sisters, a gossipy mother, mysterious hate mail, and ghosts from the past that threaten to destroy everything she's worked to achieve. And just when Sam thinks things couldn't possibly get worse, there's a murder on her property that the local detective seems mighty determined to pin on the newest resident of Peabody. Suddenly Sam is overwhelmed with troubles she never imagined, and she knows the only way to get through any of it is by keeping her sense of humor and trusting that God really does know exactly what He is doing.

Great Story Line

Kristen Brown's books will make you laugh with each story. I'm at 37% of the 4th book of a 5 book series and I will admit I'm bored to death over Samantha's and Seth's relationship . Samantha is so annoying with this relationship that I hope Seth marries his ex. He at least knows what he's getting into. (5th book something is threatening Samantha's and Seth's wedding big sigh!!!) She has pushed Seth away so much and strung Ryan along that both men should feel blessed when she denied her feelings for them.

Cute Story

I adored Samantha right from the beginning, a mama who has been beat up from life quite a bit. Determined to make a great life for her kids, she makes some decisions that aren't ideal for her, but perfect for her children. Her mother and sisters are a bit too nasty for my taste, but her father and father in law are charming. Looking forward to book 2.

It was all and everything

The story was fast passed and very interesting. From a family heart break, to murder and suspense. The surprise of another wife, to the mob. Sam couldn't stop herself from being in the middle of it all. It was a great read. Couldn't stop reading until the end.

Funny.

Funny, Entertaining, Quirky, Dysfunctional family that is constantly insulting each other. Something crazy is always happening when you don't expect it.

This is the first book of Brown's for me. To say the least it was different for me. I have downloaded the second book so it must be an unusual page turner.

I feel like the story line was a little slow at times but, overall a great read! I'm going to read the second book now, look for my review over there!

I enjoyed this book. The mystery is a secondary part of the book. The main emphasis to me was on Samantha's relationship with her family and bouncing back from her crisis. The family was exasperating--not very welcoming or supportive which is sad. I think I would have wanted to leave, but she toughs it out. Some humorous things happen as well.
