If this book did even one thing right, maybe I could forgive it. But, no. Let me list it out:
- For summary that proclaims the MC to be a F1 driver there is barely any racing. Seriously, where is the racing??!
- Huo Tinglan is a creep. Its not just the age gap, though that plays a role too. It’s because he is constantly pressuring Ye Ci in one way or another, and makes pathetic excuses to redeem himself. It doesn’t even come across as sexy in either pov!
- Huo is supposed to be a scoundrel and a pervert, sure, but like, he is also supposed to be in love with his husband?? Why is sex the only thing on his mind??
‐ With a going back to the past trope, I expected more face slapping and fixing of issues. We have maybe one or two chapters per "issue" and then we are back to ambiguous sexy times. They're not even well written sexy times. I’m tired.
- Ye Ci does not seem to gain his independence at any point, despite the whole woke-up-in-the-past situation is for Huo to fix this. Nope, now Ye Ci just depends on him.
- That’s the other thing: how stupidly naive Ye Ci is. An 18 year old, forced to grow up quickly because of poor family situation... and yet he has zero quick-wittedness, and comes across as so much younger??
- Any mention of Ye Ci studying for college is also just to further add in more sexy times. I swear, I am so done.
- Nearly at the end, I had hopes of maybe a fast forward in time where he goes back to racing. Hahahahaha nope. I can count the number of racing scenes on one hand. The word "F1" is mentioned twice in the whole book. Twice.
- All loose ends get tied up in the last chapter: scheming uncle revenge, mom getting better, Ye Ci going through college. It’s all written for the express purpose of saying "look, we tied up all loose ends!"
- Let’s not even talk about the extras... it’s just more excuse for sexy times.
In the end, I have to give my kudos to the translator. They’ve done a marvelous job. It’s just that the plot was so non existent, with near zero amounts of racing – I swear, why emphasize he is a F1 driver if you’re never gonna use that again?? – that I thoroughly gave up half way through.
Well, super light, and I read this during busy hours working. Also a good starter for my long reading slump, but I think my preference regarding age gap, just became clear, I personally feels that I enjoy more when the gong is younger. Either way, if you look for some wholesome light read, then this is good
Although idk if I'm reading the censorship one or nah, but ABO theme...with no smut... Just why? Wish they could have babies too tbh

went in blind thinking it was gonna be a sports romance. imagine my surprise when i suddenly read the words alpha and omega 😭 the novel definitely wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough for a fast read when you don’t really have anything else to pick up. there are a lot of errors i could point out, but honestly i don’t even care enough to list them down.
