A father loses his son to a senseless murder and a grandfather loses his grandson to prison. This book is the story of how they met and forged an 18-year friendship working to change the cycle of youth violence. Azim, the father of the murdered 20 year old reached out to Plez, the grandfather and guardian of the shooter. They formed a foundation and now travel around the country sharing their experiences. The murderer was 14 and sentenced as an adult and has graduated from college in prison and will be released at age 46. This book is heartfelt with restorative justice at its center. I met both of them and heard their presentations when they spoke at Juvenile Hall and Oakland schools in May.

Not very well written, but lovely account of learning to forgive his son's murderer.
