Rock Bottom Love #1

Love, Naturally

Rate this book
Presley Ayers is not the woman you bring on a camping trip. An accomplished concierge at an exclusive hotel in Great Falls, MI, she knows more about the top ten places for champagne and caviar than she does about the best hiking boots to go stomping around near Lake Michigan. But when she surprises her boyfriend of eight months with a vacation to the Get Lost Lodge and he dumps her instead, Presley decides to rough it solo and take the trip herself.

When Beckett Keller helps the gorgeous woman off the rickety boat and onto Lodge territory, it’s clear she’s made a mistake. She doesn’t like hiking, fishing, or nature in general, so why did she go on this trip?―but he’s got other things on his mind. A crumbling lodge, and his own plans and dreams that are forever deferred―so he doesn’t have time for Ms. Fish-Out-of-Water. But neither Beckett or Presley can help that inexplicable draw they feel towards each other. He’s all rough stubble and plaid shirts, while she’s all high heels and brand-name athleisurewear.

But you know what they say about opposites.

A charming opposites-attract romance, Love, Naturally is for anyone who ever stepped outside their comfort zone and found that all the best things can happen when you take a chance.

This book has ruined me for other books. I still have a book hangover weeks after reading this. Love! Love! Love!

First, I LOVE Beckett! *Swoon* I also love that we had duel POVs so we get to be in his head, Really understand his perspective. It makes it easy to understand how he acts and what drives him.

Presley is also wonderful. She takes on things she has never done, challenges herself, and learns a lot about herself along the way.

I would also be remiss if I did not mention the supporting characters, they are PERFECTION!! If this does not become a series i will be devastated. I want to see Beckett’s brother and sister find love!! Sign me up! I am officially a Sophie Sullivan super fan!!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for the ARC!

I recently discovered Sophie Sullivan, and I'm so glad I did!

Presley plans a trip that was originally meant for her and her boyfriend, only to end up going solo after dumping him (he’s a total jerk BTW). She’s not a fan of the outdoors—camping, fishing, hiking, none of it is her thing—but the getaway turns into exactly what she needs.

She ends up at this adorable cabin resort run by Beck and his family, and let me tell you, it’s impossible not to fall for them! The chemistry between Beck and Presley is off-the-charts! Plus, the other guests and the whole found-family vibe makes the story even sweeter.

What I loved most was Presley's journey of self-discovery. She went from hating all things outdoors (same, girl!) to actually finding a bit of fun in it. It's refreshing to see her embrace new experiences but also acknowledge that not everything is going to be her favorite—and that's perfectly okay.

And don’t get me started on how Beck wins her back after she heads home… it was just the sweetest thing! If you're looking for a feel-good read with lovable characters and a cozy setting, this is definitely the book for you!

Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan
Contemporary romance. Dual POV. Closed door.
After dumping her boyfriend of eight months, Presley Ayers decides to take the vacation she set up anyway. She doesn’t know the first think about fishing or hiking but she’ll make it work. Sadly she gets sick on the ferry to the Lodge and then the heat in her room doesn’t work and it’s winter! The resort is a bit run down but the family is nice and working hard to run and update it. Presley ends up staying in Beckett Keller’s cabin, who is part of the family. He’s gorgeous enough to be in magazines. It’s probably not a good idea, but she asks him to stay in the cabin with her. Everything is so different from her city life and she is just a little uneasy with all those outdoor sounds.

🎧 I listened to an audiobook version which was narrated by Julie Rogers. The performance is well done with distinct voices for Presley and Beckett and additional secondary characters. Presley’s anxiety is clearly heard on her first night as well as her wonder at catching a fish.
I did find the narration a little slow and listened at 1.5 which is my preferred to match a conversational speed.

A charming and quick falling in love for the couple, plus a wonderful family working together for a combined benefit. A feel good romance where Presley realizes that settling for convenient isn’t always the only option.

I received this from NetGalley and the publisher Macmillan Audio.

Closed door romance!

I found the storyline slow moving so it wasn't amazing, but I really appreciated that it was closed door. They dropped the f-word 3 times that felt so out of place, so that brought it down.

Semi-insta love as well. They characters had a connection but it happened in 2 days, so that felt very unrealistic.

Would recommend but don't expect something amazing.

This book was difficult for me to get through. The story taking place over ten days made the slow pacing super tedious. Overall, insta-love romances are always a hit or miss for me, and this one was the latter.

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is an entertaining, well-written contemporary romance novel. It has a likable female protagonist, an engaging male protagonist, appealing secondary characters, supportive family and friends, wit, humor, small town charm, a heartwarming romance, and a satisfying conclusion. I am looking forward to reading Grayson's story with great anticipation. Ms. Julie Rogers does an outstanding job narrating this audiobook.

I truly loved writing Presley and Beckett's story. I couldn't get the idea of this woman who had it all mapped out, out of my head. Life has a way of throwing things at us that we don't expect and we can't predict how we'll respond. So, when Presley ends up on the trip she thought would cement a relationship she thought she could make work single and alone, she's unprepared for her response to Beckett. Get Lost Lodge, Smile, and the whole Keller family (especially Ollie) were an absolute delight to write about and I'm so thrilled and honored to share this new series with you all.

Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for sharing an advanced copy of this book for review. It was my pleasure to read another of Sophie Sullivan’s books!

Summary
Presley Ayers is suddenly alone at a fishing lodge, and she doesn’t even like to be outside. How did this happen? Presley doesn’t do things by chance. She is a detail-oriented people-pleaser who REALLY likes a plan. She’s made a career out of it as both a hotel concierge and a small Instagram influencer who mainly shares vacation deals.

But you see, she booked this trip for her boyfriend ex-boyfriend as a surprise. When he told her that he couldn’t imagine spending 10 days with her nagging, she broke up with him and went on her own. Reeling from this shocking turn, a beautiful mountain man ends up sleeping on her couch so she doesn’t feel so isolated… and accidentally appears in the background of a picture she posts online.

Beckett Keller (the couch hottie) is devoted to his family (parents, siblings, niece) and helping his brother get his lodge off the ground. He works day in & out to make it happen, but lately, he’s been wanting to pursue his own dreams. When Presley stumbles into his life, they find a marketing strategy to drum up interest in the lodge as well as stoke their interest in each other.

My thoughts:
Another hit from Sophie Sullivan! I enjoyed meeting this whole cast of brilliant characters. Ollie, the niece, was hilarious throughout the book while still seeming believable as a little kid.

The romance was really sweet! Nothing but two people who legitimately want the best for one another making choices to that end. We got a good amount of depth from both Presley and Beckett without devolving into melodrama. I actually teared up just a little at the end of the book. Without spoiling anything, I love a little grand gesture moment.

I have my fingers crossed that Sullivan will bring back the secondary characters in stand-alone novels. Does Grayson heal from his divorce & settle down with someone new? Do the karaoke bar brothers ever resolve things? Does Adam get a car? I would love to stay tuned!!

To be honest, this was one of the most cringy and unrealistic romances I've read in a while. The main character, Presley, got out of a relationship, traveled on a solo trip, and jumped into a relationship with another man basically within 24-48 hours. The events that the author wrote just made Presley come off as very codependent. The development between Presley and Beckett came off as insta-love and felt very unromantic to me. The upside was the premise with the lodge and all of the side characters. I wish we had seen more of them, especially Ollie, to make the story feel more authentic and less forced. Alas, this book was not for me.

3.5 ⭐️ this was like a vanilla ice cream cone on a summer day.
I loved the premise and setting, the outdoors, fishing, hiking, lodge on an island, cute little town on the water. My kind of vacation.

Beckett: hot mountain man, reminded me of my husband, loved him.
Presley: I felt like I wanted more of, city girl with a social media presence and liked shopping, very people pleasing.

I think what didn’t work for me was the third person. It was Dual POV which I love!! But quite often I was confused who’s perspective I was in, and it took me longer to read this than normal.

It was also a closed door romance, we got the illusions things occurred, which I didn’t mind sometimes I need a good wholesome palette cleanser.

I’d read more books this author puts out.

Thank you @netgalley @smpromance for a copy of this sweet romance. Presley goes on a fishing trip solo after her boyfriend doesn't want to go. I love the small town vibe and all the characters in this story. Presley meets Beckett who is helping his brother and sister with this lodge. This story is a bit of insta love which I am not a big fan of but thought it was done well. I enjoyed seeing both Beckett and Presley's growth journey. I hope this story continues with Beckett's siblings as the focus.

“You fell in love, you fucking idiot.”
3.75★ (rounded up bc it was cute)

I mean yeah dude, this is the quintessential romance story. It hits all of the points: girl is trying to find herself by going out of her comfort zone and she winds up with so much more, guy needs some direction in his life and all signs point to her.

Presley: FMC - marketing/hotel management city girly who is going on a small town vacation in order to get over a crappy ex. She definitely gives golden retriever vibes.

Beckett: MMC - likable, handsome small town boy, who is trying to keep his family’s business alive.

Tropes: small town romance, instant love, city girl/small town boy

Definitely a closed door romance, no spice.

I truly did enjoy this story as I finished it in one afternoon. It was a nice low stress/high reward predictable plot. It didn’t exactly reinvent the wheel but I would suggest it to those who are looking for an easy, cozy, and happy read. This is definitely my new fave from Sophie Sullivan. I was talking to a friend about this book and we both agreed that the best kind of romance is the kind where you are so invested that you don't even realize that it's closed door.

When Presley plans a vacation surprise for her boyfriend and everything goes as wrong as possible, she ends up at a fishing resort alone. She fully expects to wallow in netflix and chocolate, but finds that the family and guests at the resort are the true gift. Her romance with Beckett is sweet and swoony and moves at just the right pace. The side characters are perfection. The town is so much fun. The setting is the perfect balance of providing background and texture without being overwhelming to the story. Please tell me that we are going to get Jill and Greyson's stories, too!

If enjoyed this book as much as I did, please go back and read Sophie's Jody Holford books. They are fantastic.

After Presley surprises her boyfriend with a vacation, the last thing she expects is to get dumped after gifting it to him, so she decides to make it a solo trip for herself to the small town of Smile, Lake Michigan.

I didn’t expect to get so swept away by this sweet romance story in LOVE, NATURALLY. The opening chapter was so funny, and I immediately gravitated towards the characters and upbeat writing. Presley and Beckett had an j Shang attraction and such great chemistry, and the secondary characters were just as great. It was just the lighthearted romcom I needed after reading a few darker and emotional reads lately.

I loved escaping to the small vacation town of Smile and the Get Lost Resort, and it was such an adorable romance that gave me those travel vibes I’m craving this Winter.

The Keller siblings had such a great bond, and I loved their dynamic to come together when they needed the support. Yes the romance is pure insta-love with all the cheesiness, but that’s what I loved so much about it too.

🎧I paired the book with the audio and loved this immersive style of reading! I really enjoyed the narration by Julie Rodgers and felt Presley’s character come to life. It really added to this cute story that was so full of heart and humor.

T.I.M.E. BOOK REVIEW:
A Charming Opposites Attract Romance Book...
In a world where love is often portrayed as a fairytale romance between two perfect people, Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan is a refreshing change. This novel is not "just another game" when it comes to romance... But all about taking chances, stepping outside our comfort zone, and finding love in the most unexpected places... And at the most unexpected time and circumstances.

The charming opposites attract romance between Presley Ayers and Beckett Keller will leave you swooning and wanting more.

Here is my T.I.M.E. Best Book Review of Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan... Grab some popcorn and prepare to lose yourself in the world of romance...

Plot Points
Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan is a heartwarming tale of Presley Ayers, an accomplished "city girl" concierge at an exclusive hotel, who surprises her boyfriend of eight months with his dream rugged vacation to the Get Lost Lodge, only to be dumped as they are about to leave. In an attempt to move on and step out of her comfort zone, she decides to go ahead with taking the vacation she planned alone.

When she arrives, it becomes clear (with every earned blister!) that she is not the kind of person who would enjoy a rugged vacation... And meets Beckett Keller, a lodge employee who seems to embody everything she's not... Including being the personification of a rugged vacation in the flesh!

City girl plus rugged mountain man? You can probably tell where this might be going. But I did not mind that one bit... I was so charmed by the two main characters plus Beckett's other family members who run the Get Lost Lodge that I was thrilled to be on a romance va-cay!

Standout Features of Love, Naturally
• Finding Love In Unexpected Ways
When it comes to romance novels, there's nothing quite like a love story about two people from different worlds finding true love in unexpected ways. That's what makes Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan such a delightful read.

This charming opposites attract romance is for anyone who has ever stepped outside their comfort zone and found that all the best things can happen when you take a chance.

• Relatable Characters
The first thing that makes Love, Naturally such a great read is its relatability. Presley is a strong, successful woman who thinks she has it all figured out, only to find out that life has other plans.

Beckett, on the other hand, is trying to keep his family's legacy alive, but he's struggling to make ends meet. This makes it easy for readers to connect with both of them on a personal level and root for their happy ending.

• Witty Dialogue
Another reason why Love, Naturally stands out from other romance novels is its humor. Sophie Sullivan has a knack for writing witty dialogues that are both funny and endearing.

The characters' banter is entertaining to read and adds a lightness to the story that keeps readers engaged from start to finish.

Prepare yourself to meet a true firecracker of a "young girl on the rise" in Beckett's young niece, Ollie. .. And I must say that Ollie's witty dialogue truly steals one scene after the next!

• Charming Rustic Setting
One of the most appealing aspects of Love, Naturally is the setting. The Get Lost Lodge is a rustic, outdoorsy retreat that allows readers to escape to a place where they can disconnect and find solace in nature. It's the perfect backdrop for a story about two people who couldn't be more different.

And the lush descriptions of the scenery and the charming adjacent village help transport readers to the heart of the story and allow them to experience the journey alongside the characters.

• Undeniable Chemistry with Slow Burn Appeal
The chemistry between Presley and Beckett is undeniable. Their attraction is both intense and a slow burn... Or at least as slow burn as a holiday romance can be! Readers will definitely feel the sparks flying off the page... However, the closed door romance element keeps the graphic scenes off the page and completely left to your imagination.

As they navigate their differences, their relationship is both heartwarming and fraught with slow burn sexual tension, making it impossible to put the book down.

EPILOGUE
Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan is a must-read for anyone who loves a good contemporary romance novel... With relatable characters, witty humor, a stunning setting, and undeniable chemistry, this is the perfect book to get lost in.

This charming opposites attract romance is a testament to the fact that sometimes the best things can happen when you step outside your comfort zone and take a chance. So go ahead and lose yourself in the beautiful story of Presley and Beckett.

And if you find yourself longing to book your own rugged vacation, make sure you pack Love, Naturally to read as you sit under the stars!... ✨😎✨

♡ T.I.M.E. TIP: Currently, Love Naturally is being released as a standalone book. But the author has hinted that both Jilly's & Grayson's stories (Beckett's sister & brother) are being planned for two additional books coming soon... So, I am tagging this an interconnected romance series... What does this mean for you as a reader?... You can read this book series as standalone books since they are interconnected romance books… Meaning each book focuses on a different couple from the same "world" of the Keller family... But interconnected romance is still a cumulative series... As for me, I started with Book 1 and am always glad to get in on the ground floor of world-building to fully embrace the interconnected romance bonus element... ✨😎✨

Get ready for a charming opposites-attract romance in Sophie Sullivan's Love, Naturally... Step outside your comfort zone and embark on a journey where the best things happen when you take a chance...

Meet Presley Ayers, an accomplished concierge at a fancy hotel in Great Falls, MI. She knows all about champagne, caviar, and the luxurious life, but hiking boots and adventuring? Not her thing.
When her boyfriend dumps her instead of appreciating the surprise vacation she planned for them, Presley decides to go on the trip solo and embrace the rough wilderness all by herself.

Enter Beckett Keller, the guy who helps Presley off the old boat and onto the Lodge grounds. He can immediately tell that she's out of her element. Hiking, fishing, and nature? Clearly not her forte.

But Beckett has his own worries... Like helping his family restore the dilapidated lodge and what to do with his deferred dreams. He simply doesn't have time for a fish-out-of-water like Presley.
However, destiny has other plans, as they both feel an inexplicable attraction towards each other. He's all rugged with stubble and plaid shirts, while she's the epitome of style and athleisure.

Get ready for a rollercoaster ride of surprises and chemistry, because you know what they say about opposites... The lines blur as they definitely attract!

Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan is a charming opposites-attract romance that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. Presley and Beckett’s unlikely and unique love story is a perfect example of how stepping out of our comfort zones can lead to unexpected and beautiful things.

BOOK CLUB DISCUSSION:
• Stepping outside of your comfort zone can lead to unexpected and beautiful things... In Love, Naturally, Presley decides to take a solo trip into the wild, something that is completely out of her comfort zone. And through this experience, she finds love and discovers more about herself. Reminding us that sometimes we need to push ourselves past our limits to truly grow and experience new opportunities.

• Attraction can come in many forms, even between two seemingly opposite individuals... Presley and Beckett couldn't be more different on the surface, but their undeniable chemistry proves that opposites can attract. Encouraging us that we shouldn't judge someone based on appearances or assumptions, as there could be a deep connection waiting to be discovered.

• Slow burn romance can be just as fulfilling and exciting as a fast-paced one... In Love, Naturally, the relationship between Presley and Beckett is a slow burn. They both have their own struggles and insecurities to work through before they can fully commit to each other. And as readers, we get to experience their journey of growth and self-discovery alongside them, making their happily ever after even more rewarding. Reminding us that a love built on patience and understanding can be just as (or even more) fulfilling and exciting as a whirlwind romance.

BOOK QUOTE:
"No matter how much you plan, things happen. You roll with it, you adjust, and sometimes the thing that knocked you down is the thing that wakes you up... What you think might be the worst moment in your life can show you exactly what you were missing... " — Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan

Presley plans a very nice vacation in the wilderness for her and her boyfriend but actually ends up getting dumped in the process. She decides to go on the vacation anyway and ends up finding more happiness there than in her real life. Presley was a city girl who enjoys yoga, shopping, eating good food and has never participated in outdoor activities until she finds herself at Get Lost Lodge. Enter Beckett, who is helping his brother get the lodge up and running to its best capacity. Beckett and Presley instantly connect and spend the next week of Presley's vacation together falling in love.

Their romance is sweet and wholesome but for some reason I wished for more. They spent a lot of time helping around the lodge and I just wish they spent more time alone together. I especially enjoyed the ending and the gems about trusting how love will change your life. Overall, I enjoyed their love story and it is a sweet story for a quick summer day read.

Ahhh I think dark romance & morally grey men ruined me for sweet books like this one 🙊 this book wasn’t bad but I just couldn’t get into it 🤷🏽‍♀️ i really tried to finish it but ultimately, I ended up DNF ing it about 60% in.

Im more of a slow burn fan so the insta love had me cringing at times 🥴

I usually am not a fan of 3rd person pov but this book was beautifully written & I actually really enjoyed the writing !

Love, Naturally by Sophie Sullivan is my first book of 2024. I love how Sophie writes a heartfelt story with characters who feel genuine. Presley ends up breaking up with her ex and then goes on the surprise birthday trip she planned for him. Besides suddenly being alone, the bad part is that she has to be outdoors doing activities she's not fond of. She meets Beckett, whose family runs the Get Lost lodge on an island in Lake Michigan. This was an insta-love, small-town, forced proximity; opposites attract romance story. This is also a closed-door romance for those wondering. Overall, I enjoyed this story. I'm just not a huge insta-love fan.

Thank you, Macmillan Audio, for the audiobook. It was well-narrated. I would recommend it.

Presley Ayers has had a series of disappointments: disappointment in not being where she wants in her career, disappointment in the boyfriend she finally dumped, and disappointment in going on this surprise birthday fishing trip alone when she had planned it for her and her boyfriend. After a bumpy ferry ride, lodging renovations, and a freezing room, can she find anything to warm her heart?

Enter Beckett, who is also on this trip to help out his siblings who have unexpectedly taken on this formerly abandoned fishing lodge. What he also doesn't expect is the attraction to Presley and the bond he develops with the other guests.

Unfortunately, this book fell flat for me. I finished the book in the hopes that there would be some movement, conflict, or some surprise somewhere in the ending. However, I was disappointed. There weren't any surprises in the plot and instead it felt (to me) like a bland storyline without any memorable conflict. Also, I struggled to find any passion in the sudden romance between Presley and Beckett. I think this is because it felt very technical as far as the description of their dialogues and interactions. There is a lot of focus on who is looking down or up and where the characters' arms and legs are positioned rather than the intimacy of the conversations and kisses. For readers who prefer clean romances, this may be the book for you as there is mostly kisses in greeting and the passion is distracted by the many projects each character has to take on to get the lodge in order or to accommodate guest requests.

I also found issue with the social media aspect of the storyline. Presley has a social media presence that gets Beckett a lot of attention for his abs and she gains a following for the lodge because of it. It also is used as a reconciliation tactic later in the plot which reminded me of part of the plot of B.K. Borison's book In The Weeds. The main issue I have with it is how repetitive it gets in referring to Beckett as "hot mountain man". It is overdone and it didn't make sense to me as it is not very clear if they are even in the mountains but at a lake.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for the ARC! I am leaving this review honestly and voluntarily.

I love romance novels because they make me smile, and this book, Love, Naturally made me smile more than most. Author Sophie Sullivan has given us a main character, Presley, a successful young woman who struggles with not feeling important, not feeling like she belongs anywhere. That is, until she heads to a lodge filled with outdoor activities—which, by the way, is not something she loves—and meets Beckett and his family. I loved that she took chances, I loved that she bravely tried new things, I loved that she was smart and witty. Beckett was at a crossroads himself, deciding what his own future would look like, and meeting Presley further complicates things. This wonderful book will make you smile and laugh and swoon, as these two endearing characters open up their hearts to vulnerability and possibilities. I don’t have a crystal ball, but I hope there will be more stories to come from this wonderful family.

This book has a strange combination between the slow burn of the plot and the fact that it takes place during 10 days and the characters immediate connection which is the opposite.
It is cute. I loved that P is the one that saves the day, both with financial and practical advices and publicity too. Is it reliable? No. But still cute.

LOVE, NATURALLY by Author Sophie Sullivan is a heartwarming opposites attract, insta-love romance rendered through dual points of view. There's a long list of reasons why these two characters will never work as a couple, and yet the chemistry sparking between them could set the forest on fire. Does anything else really matter?

Presley surprises her boyfriend with a ten-day getaway at the Get Lost Lodge, a place where fishing, hiking and roughing it is the name of the game. While it isn't her thing, she wants to prove her commitment to their relationship and her willingness to do things he likes to do. Imagine her surprise when he says he'll invite a buddy to go with him, not her. Apparently, they're not on the same page when it comes to moving forward with their relationship, so Presley takes the reservations back and proceeds to go on the trip by herself. It'll be a good time to assess her life and figure out which direction to go in the future. Getting sick on the boat crossing to the island is not a good sign, but she steps out of her comfort zone and tries new activities with Beckett, a hunky, willing teacher and the lodge guide, who's helping his brother get the lodge up and running. Readers quickly learn Beckett has issues of his own. He's set aside his own dreams to commit to helping family. Presley and Beckett couldn't be more different. She's a city girl who loves shopping, champagne and caviar and he's a country boy who catches, cleans and cooks his own dinner. There're too many miles, differences and entanglements for them to consider a future together . . . even though the sexual tension between them is off the charts. They'll enjoy each other's company and at the end of ten days, both go their separate ways. Right?

LOVE, NATURALLY is a sweet, opposites attract romance with great secondary characters helping carry the story. The rustic setting and evolving relationship between these two characters is intriguing and fun to watch as they both grow into their own and make life altering decisions. While the couple go from zero to sixty in ten days, the narrative is a bit slow in spite of the sizzling chemistry. The audio narrated by Julie Rogers brought the story to life and added to my enjoyment, engaging my senses. I highly recommend it if you enjoy audiobooks. LOVE, NATURALLY is a great choice for fans of insta-love, opposites attract and characters willing to step out of their comfort zone to find happy ever after.

She doesn’t like hiking, fishing, or nature in general, so why did she go on this trip?—but he’s got other things on his mind. A crumbling lodge, and his own plans and dreams that are forever deferred—so he doesn’t have time for Ms. Fish-Out-of-Water. But neither Beckett or Presley can help that inexplicable draw they feel towards each other. He’s all rough stubble and plaid shirts, while she’s all high heels and brand-name athleisurewear.

But you know what they say about opposites...

I don't recall how Sophie's Sullivan upcoming 2024 release came onto my radar, but after reading the synopsis it sounded like something I would enjoy, and cover picks have been a recent trend for me. Even though insta-love is a trope I have struggled with in the past, as are rom-coms involving social media influencers, I was still willing to give this one a try because there were other little things I love.

What I like:
• the setting. I wanted to be able to visit this adventurous, small town hotel resort so badly. The townsfolk. The quiet pace. The activities. The lush forest. All of it sounded like the perfect getaway to me.
• solo travelling. I commend Presley for stepping out of her comfort zone and embarking on a solo trip. It was ballsy and a reminder of taking a chance on things that may not fit with what we'd normally do. She was willing to fish, hike, etc. and I loved it.
• the likeable characters. Both MCs were interesting to me and I was rooting for them both. Yet it is the secondary characters that really enhance the story. I loved them all.
• the narration. There is good pacing and emotion in the narration. While it was fine, it could have been made better with a male narrator for Beckett's POV.

What I didn't like:
• the forced proximity. Accepting to stay in a cabin with a hotel employee felt a little over the top and improbable.

It's quite possible Love, Naturally was a case of the right book at the right time. I adored this opposites attract, small-town romance more than expected. Did I have to suspend some belief? Absolutely! Did that bother me? No. It definitely made me wish I could visit this fictional hotel and get to know the characters. I will be interested to see if some of the side characters may get their own stories in the future.

This story is told in third person and follows Presley and Beckett. This is my fourth book by this author and probably my second favorite. Ten Rules for Faking It just edges it out for my top spot. I really enjoyed Presley’s character. She really needed a vacation. So what if she’s going on her now ex-boyfriend’s dream vacation by herself. I loved her go with it it attitude and when she ended up in a place that clearly needed her and on top of that appreciated her efforts, what a blessing!

Beckett’s family was awesome. I feel like Presley found exactly the perfect family for her to fall in love with. I understood Beckett’s issues with putting his family first over his priorities for his own life and how Presley encouraged him to pursue his personal goals. Overall, I just thought it was a lovely story and it took place in a setting that I thoroughly enjoyed. Good story, great characters and to top it off adorable supporting characters and family.

"What are you doing here Beckett?" The easy humor fled from his gaze. "You took something of mine." She laughed. "Yes. Fine. I admit it  I stole your pillowcase." "Not my pillowcase, Presley. My heart. You took it, and it's really freaking hard to function without it."

Sweet, heartfelt, and fun!

Love, Naturally is a lovely, character-driven rom-com that sweeps you away to Get Lost Lodge and into the lives of the easy-going, kind Presley and the hardworking, considerate Beckett as they discover that opposites do attract, and there may actually be more to their relationship than just fake dating, surface feelings, and a short-term fling.

The prose is fluid and smooth. The characters are helpful, attentive, and charismatic. And the plot is an engaging mix of friendship, family, light drama, tender moments, humorous situations, snappy dialogue, introspection, support, sizzling romance, and new beginnings.

Overall, Love, Naturally is an amusing, captivating, charming novel by Sullivan that was a delight to read with its irresistible characters and heartwarming storyline.

Love, Naturally was a cute read! A clean romance with some found family mixed in:)

This book took me a little while to get through, and I do have mixed thoughts. I think the pacing of the book (the entire novel spans about 2 weeks) was weird, considering as things dragged on a bit while there were also constant reminders that this was only for "a few days". It was also very insta-love, and while others might have enjoyed it, it didn't fully hit the spot for me.

I did love all the side characters and the found family aspect of it, and the setting was really great and made me wish I was in summer right now! While the dialogue was a bit lengthy too, I do think there were some good messages to be found in this book, especially when it comes to doing things out of your comfort zone, and taking chances on the things or people you love.

I love a good opposites-attract romance especially when our lead characters are adorable and have perfect chemistry.

What was supposed to be a 10-day wilderness surprise vacation for her boyfriend, ends up as Presley heading to Get Lost Log all by herself. Presley, a self-proclaimed city girl who considers sipping mimosas on the patio as ‘outdoorsy’, is determined to fix her broken heart by trying new things and enjoying this trip. But even getting off the boat onto the island is outside Presley’s’ comfort zone, but thanks to part owner Beckett, she’s saves from catastrophe on day one. As Beckett decides to give Presley the best outdoorsy experience possible, Presley might just surprise the entire Get Lost Log with her ideas for improvement. She and Beckett might also find that the other is naturally perfect for them.

This is such a charming story! I loved the relationship between Presley and Beckett and found them to have fairly good chemistry from the start. There is plenty of fun banter between our characters and while this is a romance, I really enjoyed the strong family focus. I’m sure this is lining us up for additional stories about Beckett’s siblings and I can honestly say I’m here for it.

My only ‘ick’ with the story, is who plans a surprise 10 DAY VACATION with someone you’ve been dating a few months. I’d lose my marbles if someone did this for me. At least start with a weekend away or something, but I digress.

What really made this story for me though, was the setting and cozy wilderness vibes Sullivan gave us. All I want to do is go to summer camp on an island or better yet, visit Get Lost Log now. I mean sign me up for #sexymoutainmen anyway. This is a perfect vacation read and one you should add to your Spring Break reading lists!

This low stakes, closed door romance is the perfect fit for fans of the opposites attract trope or if you’re looking for lighthearted. The audio presentation by Julie Rogers was also excellent and I highly recommend listening while sitting by a body of water!
