She’s a grumpy security expert…

Reese doesn’t do relationships. Especially not with tall, sexy men with golden retriever energy. Nope, she prefers her men brooding and silent—with no strings attached. So when she hooks up with her gorgeous coworker after their friends’ wedding, she does what any sane woman would do. She runs.

He’s a sunshine badass…

Unfortunately for her, they’ve got to go undercover at a couples’ retreat which means one room, one bed, and a simmering heat neither of them can deny. Constantine—aka Cash to his friends—has been burned before because of his wealth. But Reese wants nothing to do with his money, which only intrigues him even more. Now that they’re sharing a room, his hot-and-cold vixen isn’t getting away from him again. But he’s got to keep them alive long enough to show that what they shared is more than a one-time thing. Something that proves more difficult when people around them start dying.

Fighting for Reece by Katie Reus
Redemption Harbor Security series #2. Spin off from the Red Stone Security series. Romantic Suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Reese and Cash had a brief hookup at a friend’s wedding. She ran. He’s in pursuit.
The two are assigned to work together on a missing person’s case at a couples resort. And it starts out fairly tame up until they find the body, witness a drug deal and a murder. They need to figure out if the police are covering up or caught up and then the Albanians show up. And a mountain lion. Is a busy week and an undercover winter adventure. Just another job for Redemption Harbor Security.

Fast moving action, friendships strengthening, romance and sexy interludes. Plus a job well done and the bad guys caught. A winning combination for a reading escape into love and adventure.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Redemption Harbor Security series. I have not read the first book in this series. It took me a minute to get used to the writing style. We follow two sets (a man and woman) of people in this book, and the jumping between the different characters was a little confusing of me. In this book there were two undercover couples, and I wish we got the point of view from just one of those couples. The mystery/suspense in this book was really good, and I also liked the characters in this book. There was enough drama and suspense going on in this book to keep me into the story. I enjoyed reading this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Reese and Cash were a great couple. I loved that Cash found everything about Reese attractive. Her attempts to wipe the smile from his face was cute as was the fact she failed each time. Their chemistry sizzled across the pages, especially when they had to go undercover as a married couple.

This is romantic suspense at its finest. At every turn something was happening. I didn’t know which way to look in my quest to solve the crime before the author gave me the answer. Is it wrong that I loved it each time another body was found? I couldn't wait to learn what the heck was happening and why!

I adored how all in Cash was with Reese from the very start. I just love a man who knows what he wants. And Reese was awesome! How can you not love a woman who can kick some serious butt. These two worked well together in their investigation. And the investigation itself was intriguing and fun to read.

The wedding was a great place to start this one, the couple from the last one moving on to the next stage of their lives. Of course the wedding also brought all sorts of fun in other areas, like Reese and Cash giving into their attraction. I thought it interesting how Reese ran the next day, but that made Cash more determined to win her over. He wasn't gross about it, just acted like normal, but did manipulate their situation into spending more time with her and the trip to the jeweler's was a stroke of genius.

The case they worked on ended up being so much more than a missing person. It was fun to see each new thing they learned and how things quickly snowballed out of control. So much drama at the end, but everyone kept a level head and did what needed to be done.

By the time they went home Cash had won over Reese, there was no more running for her and in fact she was doing what she could to stick by his side.

In this second installment in the Redemption Harbor Security series (following Fighting for Hailey) Hailey’s best friend with an attitude Reese is sent undercover with one of Hailey’s friends from her foster care days, Cash. Cash is too good looking, too ready to smile, and has a way with money. Totally not snarky Reese’s type….except she can’t keep her eyes, her mind or ultimately her hands off him. Fresh off her one night hook-up with Cash (from which Reese snuck away the morning after), learning that she will be undercover as his wife on an assignment is distressing, to put it mildly. For his part, Cash is more than ready to admit that Reese has grabbed his attention and possibly his heart, and he is not about to let her run away from what is between them. As they work their assignment, looking for a missing employee at a romantic Montana couples’ resort, Reese battles her attraction to Cash even as they find that they are up against more than just a missing woman. Bodies start turning up, and it looks like a philandering boss, cops on the take and drug smuggling are all on the menu. Will perseverance, in love and in their investigation, keep them alive and maybe bring them together?
Author Katie Reus again brings us a feisty (if somewhat skittish and grumpy) heroine, and its hard not to be charmed by Cash, a guy who has no problems attracting feminine attention except when it comes to the one woman who sees him for who he is rather than what he looks like and what he has in the bank. Alongside this pair we also have Rowan and Adalyn, who due to a catastrophic event in their past are struggling to work as a team….and its not hard to tell that their story will be the next installment in the series. A fast paced romantic thriller, with plenty of peppery back-and-forth. Not the hardest mystery to solve, but a lot of fun along the way. Many thanks to NetGalley and Author Collective 20 for allowing me early access to a very enjoyable read for fans of this author, as well as for readers of Kat Martin, Rebecca Zanetti and Heather Graham.

the wealthy retreat has all the trimmings for wealthy couples to enjoy but something sinister is happening... and it takes reese and her mates to find out what it is

not a bad read that keeps you reading till the end its high octane stuff with mystery surrounding the retreat and a mountain lion stalking the mountains makes an appearance

Fighting for Reese😍

Fighting for Reese is the second book in the Redemption Harbour Security series and is just spectacular❣️

Reese and Cash, and their team are flown to Montana to investigate the “disappearance” of a young woman. Going undercover as a couple is slightly more difficult than either expected especially considering their attraction to one another. But it soon becomes clear to both of them…that what they have could go the distance…but first they have a mystery to solve😳

This story had quite a few moving parts, which I really enjoyed. There were some cameos from old favourites but also I REALLY loved Cash and Reese’s characters - they were both seriously funny that I had some great laugh out loud moments😂

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

I just could not get into this book. The first 2 or 3 pages were just blah. One reviewer said the book did not get interesting until chapter 8. No, it was chapter 25 before I finally got interested enough to stop skimming. By then I had had it with the whole thing.

I really liked the first book in the series. I gave it 5 stars. But this one, no. I don't plan on reading the rest of this series. I might go back and try the first couple of books in the original series.

Usually when we talk about a grumpy/sunshine romance we kind of know what to expect, but Katie Reus manages as always to turn everything on its head in this new story of two people so obviously made for one another even if one of them is resisting it every step of the way. I have been really looking forward to this novel, ever since the characters first met in the previous novel and we watched sparks flying, and I enjoyed every moment of their story as it developed. The Redemption Harbor Security Team is quickly becoming one of my favorite new series and I am really looking forward to the third installment coming soon, but in the meantime I just might reread Reese and Cash’s love story. For anyone looking for the type of fast-paced and suspenseful romance, filled with twists that will leave you wondering if the main characters are going to make it in the end, I present to you the majesty of Fighting for Reese and welcome you to the world of Redemption Harbor.

Constantine Pierce, aka Cash, has started a new adventure along with his foster sister and her long time love in North Carolina, and one of the biggest draws to his new life is the sexy and irritable Reese Sinclair. She has sparked his interest from the first time they matched wits when they worked together trying to rescue his kidnapped foster brother, and he has never given up hope that he would get a chance to prove to her they were meant to be together. Reese can’t believe she gave into her weakness and slept with the golden boy charmer Cash, but now she has to find a way to work with him as his fiancée undercover in a very high stakes case. But the deeper they dig into the case, the more questions arise and the higher the threat level seems to be going, leaving Reese, Cash, and their partners right in the crosshairs of too many enemies for them to not have total trust in one another, even if they are fighting the passion and emotional pull they are feeling. They have to let go of their fears and emotional hang-ups in order to survive the dangers all around them, but if they survive, can they then find a way to build a life together or will Reese push Cash away once and for all?

Man where to even start with all the emotional trauma these two lovers had to overcome in order to accept one another. Reese has lived a golden life, when you look at it from the outside, having grown up with a silver spoon and being given every leg up in life. But the truth is that she lived her childhood without the one thing she needed the most, the love and mutual respect of her parents, which made her push them and their lifestyle away so that she could live her own life, even though she still loves them. She has determined to make her own choices and not let their wants and desires for her future affect her, but that has also left her making choices that keep her from making emotional connections. IT wasn’t until she finally allowed herself to admit that Cash had come to mean much more to her than even she expected that she opened her heart and allowed him to get his foot in the door. Once she did that it didn’t take much for the love to blossom and she became a whole new woman emotionally. Cash on the other hand made his own family with his foster siblings as a kid, then became his own man, always jumping from life goal to goal looking for the own thing in life that would keep him engaged fully, until he met Reese. I think that meeting Reese he finally found the connection and goal that will keep in grounded and in place permanently. While he has always been strong, dedicated and loving, he needed someone to shower all his love and passion on, not just a job to devote himself to, but a person that he could give his whole heart to. These two obviously were the missing piece of one another and once they began to realize and accept that their lives and their love became beautiful to experience.

The storyline that backed Reese and Cash’s love story was scary suspenseful and full of so many plot twists that I also most got lost more than once, and not going to lie there were several times I found myself asking “did I really just read that?” Reese is an expert behind the computer, but being out in the field she has to count on her teammate to not only keep them all alive, but also to help her work through all the craziness they encounter, and the emotions that she and Reese are hiding from as they slowly fall in love certainly aren’t helping. Cash is determined to do whatever it takes to keep Reese and the others safe, but that protectiveness puts him right in the line of fire more than once; he is obviously the brawn and the badass for their team and I loved seeming taking names and defeating enemies. The passion these two share is never far from the frontlines, whether they are fighting, teasing, or loving, and the am so glad they found their HEA and look forward to seeing more of them in coming novels. The nest novel is going to be even more sparky because no one does enemies to lovers better than Katie and Adalyn is going to make Rowan seriously work for it (Fighting for Adalyn). A supreme pleasure diving into this read as always, Ms. Reus.

PS : to the publisher and Netgalley, thank you so much for the ARC =D

*This review is based on a NetGalley ARC in exchange for a neutral and honest opinion*

The second book in a suspense romance series that I read with great pleasure

After seeing Cash and Reese in the previous book, I was VERY excited to see them together, especially with their “grumpy/sunshine” relationship which is one of my favorites tropes ... And I loved it !

Surprisingly the romance is an "almost" slowburn ! I loved the way their relationship grew little by little and the way Cash manages to sneakily seduce Reese (the ring !) to convince her to forget her fears and go further with him =)

The investigation was great with lots of twists and turns and a fast pace that I appreciated =D (and this so unexpected end ><)

Only one criticism : I would have liked the book to be longer >< (and in particular I would have loved a more developed part with Cash's ex and Reese's parents !)

Finally, I am SO excited to read the next book with Rowan and the mysterious Adalyn !

In short, a sexy suspense romance that is devourable ! Even if it is not necessary to read the previous book, I recommend it (especially because we also see their marriage in this book =D)

PS: to the publisher and Netgalley, thank you so much for the ARC =D

4.25stars—FIGHTING FOR REESE is the second instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult REDEMPTION HARBOR SECURITY romantic suspense series-a spin of from the author’s REDEMPTION HARBOR series. This is agents Constantine ‘Cash’ Pierce and Reese’s story line. FIGHTING FOR REESE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty . Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives FIGHTING FOR REESE follows the latest assignment for Cash and Reese. An employee is missing from the Kingston Wellness Spa, and her best friend is hoping the team at Redemption Harbor Security to uncover the truth. Going undercover as an engaged duo at a couple’s retreat, along with fellow agents US Marine Rowan and former CIA agent Adalyn, Cash and Reese quickly discover not all is well at the Kingston Wellness Spa. From dead bodies to the Albanian Mob, Cash and Reese find themselves facing the possibility of a serial killer who is intent to destroy them all.

The world building is detailed and intriguing. We are up close and personal with Cash and Reese as they journey towards coupledom while focusing on a potential killer who is desperate enough to make a mistake endangering everyone involved.

The relationship between Cash and Reese is co-workers to friends to fake lovers to lovers. Cash knows Reese is the woman that calls to his heart but Reese believes there is an end date to their fake affair. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are engaging and interesting. We are introduced to US Marine Rowan, and former CIA agent Adalyn; Spa owners Ben and Mila Kingston, as well as several guests, and law enforcement. The requisite evil has many faces.

FIGHTING FOR REESE is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, family and friendships, relationships and love. The character driven, fast paced premise is intriguing and suspenseful; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and captivating.

This is book two in The Redemption Harbor Security series and it is Reese and Cash’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Reese and Cash have history because they spent an explosive night together after attending a friend’s wedding only for Reese to walk away. Reese and Cash work together at Redemption Harbor Security and even though they are attracted to each other and have strong chemistry Reese didn’t do relationships because of her past and then they get a assignment together and need to act like an engaged couple because a woman had gone missing at a resort and now Reese and Cash need to go and investigate and in a room together so things have now become even more complicated but they are in a race against time to find the missing woman before it is too late. Cash is definitely ready to make the most of the situation so that he can get closer to Reese and see what is going on especially as he wants a future with her but she tries to keep him at arm’s length as much as possible. The more time that Reese and Cash spend together while trying to solve the mystery the more they fall for each other but danger is closer than they were expecting which has put them all in the crossfire but will they eliminate the threat and also survive giving Reese and Cash a chance of happiness and a future together that they both deserve. Wow this book takes you on a rollercoaster journey and is so action packed that it will have you on the edge of your seat while turning the pages to see what will happen next and also what the outcome will be for them all in the end. I loved Reese and Cash together because they were so perfect for each other and even though they’re relationship wasn’t plain sailing and had many ups and downs I am still glad that they solved the mystery and also managed to get their own happy ending. Katie Reus is a amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her readers attention and engaged in her books and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

Review:

I absolutely devoured Fighting for Reese. I finished in a day, it was so so good. I didn’t read the first book in the series so it did take me a minute to get up to speed on some of the background/plot. I loved Cash and Reese and loved how obsessed they were with each other. The tension and interactions between them had me kicking my feet and giggling the whole time. Cash knew what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to get it, coupled with Reese’s incredibly relatable skittishness around dating had me completely hooked. I adored the chemistry, banter and tension between them and would have loved even more spicy scenes!

There were alot of moving parts in the thriller aspect of the book, some of which might not have really been necessary for the plot. This made some parts a little difficult to follow and I felt like I had to keep flipping back and forth to understand what was going on.

Overall I would totally recommend this book. I will definitely be picking up the first book and can’t wait for the third book in the series! Thank you to Netgalley, Author Collective 20 and Katie Reus for the opportunity to review this ARC.

I received a free ARC from the author and 1852 Media; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

This was my first book by the author in years. This is the second book in what feels like a connected series, so there were references to things that happened before this book that I wasn’t entirely sure of, but not to the point of confusion. Reese was is a highly skilled cybersecurity operative and a hacker. She comes from a wealthy background, but isn’t comfortable in her skin and is skittish with people not in her inner circle of friends.

She is extremely attracted to her new teammate Constantine ‘Cash’ Pierce who is a successful businessman, former military and friends with her mutual friends/teammates. These two hook-up after their friends’ wedding and even though both have strong feelings for each other, Reese runs from Cash to protect herself.

Cash has fallen for her deeply and considers Reese his, but is willing to be extremely patient and subtle to allow her to relax and accept him.

When they go undercover to a couples spa/retreat as a newly engaged couple the intensity between them is hard for Reese to resist. The undercover op is suspenseful and brings some unexpected danger.

I enjoyed the storyline, but struggled to keep up at times with who’s POV was being told because it isn’t just Reese and Cash, but another undercover couple who have an intense past connection. There is a number of subplots going on in this relatively short read (220 ish pages).

I was looking forward to Fighting for Reese after having read the first book in the Redemption Harbor series and it most definitely didn’t disappoint. After having been introduced to Reese and Cash/Constantine and their banter and give-and-take interactions in that book, I knew this one would be a lot of fire and ice and it was. I love the “found family” genre so it’s one of the many reasons I’ve enjoyed these first two books in this series. I liked that we weren’t just introduced to Jesse, Cash, Easton and Hailey, but actually read about how they grew up together in foster care and looked out for each other. I feel like I know them all and each book delves more deeply into their personalities and I become more emotionally invested in each of them that way. Fighting for Reese gave me all the “feels” and I especially liked getting to know Roman and Adalyn too. I like multiple story lines - I think it makes the book more interesting. This author moves the plot along quickly and her writing always flows easily. Katie Reus does a fantastic job of writing romantic suspense with twists and turns, drama, excitement, intrigue – it’s all in there. Although it can be read as a standalone, I would suggest reading the first book to get the full experience of these well-written characters. I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book through NetGalley.

Katie Reus is a go-to author who never disappoints, and Fighting for Reese is another great read. It's second in a spinoff series, but it does fine as a standalone. I'd read book 1 a while ago and quite liked it, though I remember being perhaps more interested in Cash—this book's hero—than Jesse.

Cash is adorable, the sunshine in the alluded-to grumpy-sunshine pair. Former foster child and special forces hottie slash generous billionaire, he's quite the catch, maybe a little too good to be true. He meets Reese through book 1's pair and is drawn to her (and her to him), so when they are teamed up on an op, it's only a matter of time before things get real.

Reese isn't exactly a grumpy grump, but she IS skittish. I do enjoy a story where the guy falls first anyway. She's also very competent at her job, which I love. I have to admit not remembering much about her from book 1 though.. It seemed a little odd that a cyber expert was sent on a field op, to be honest, but she is good at it

The suspense is a little odd and clunky, though it's not bad so much as... well, as it is odd. As a result, I didn't feel as fully fulfilled as I would have liked. But it's still a good read. There's plenty being set up for Rowan and Adalyn's story too. I'm looking forward to it!

I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

4.25⭐

Fighting for Reese returns readers to the Redemption Harbour Security series. For a story that is easy and engaging to read.

As Reese and Cash are sent undercover at a couples retreat in Montana to search for a missing employee.

But Reese has just ghosted Cash after hooking up with him. So she's not exactly thrilled to learn her next assignment means being in such close proximity to him. Where as Cash is thrilled to learn he's finally going to get Reese's full attention and the fact they're sharing a bed is a bonus!

Yet, the assignment is anything but simple, and the pair soon find they are battling more than just their attraction. Thanks to the Albanian Mob, cops on the take, drug smuggling and a few dead bodies to keep them on their toes.

So, it's going to take all their wits, trust and skill if they're to survive this assignment.

And they are not the only ones.

As Adalyn and Rowan are joining them in Montana and they have big issues to overcome if they are to work together as a team and make it home too.

And with a fast-paced storyline, plenty of suspense, likable characters and lots of fun back and forth. Not to mention a little heat. This was an enjoyable read. That nicely blended the intrigue and suspense with Cash and Reese's romance.

I would happily recommend Fighting for Reese to all.

My thanks to Author Collective 20 and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy of Fighting For Reese. 😊

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Katie Reus and Author Collective 20 for an E Arc of this book for exchange of my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Katie Reus does it again! I think at this point it is fair to say I'm a superfan of her writing and I am loving this Redemption Harbor Security Series. Fighting for Reese is a must read! While this book is a standalone, I do recommend the first book so you can get little snippets of their initial meeting and chemistry. I was obsessed with those two and the second I finished Fighting for Hailey I was ready for this book.

In this book Cash and Reese's chemistry finally gives into them hooking up and Reese running the morning after. Cash can't get her out of his head, which lucky for them both they get to go undercover as an engaged couple.

In this book I could tell how much Katie Reus has honed her craft. There was a very good balance between the romantic storyline, the tension and chemistry and then the suspense story line was very prominent and intriguing. I think this is one of her best instances at giving us foreshadowing of the next couple, but not too much where it's overwhelming. I loved Cash, he was such a fun MMC and I love a guy who is a sucker for the leading lady from the beginning. Reese is smart and very capable and his perfect match. Also, we are getting more Skye and I fucking love her ok!

Overall I enjoyed this so much and I recommend.

As always, Ms. Reus delivers a thrilling blend of romance and suspense that will hook readers from the first page. The story features Reese, a grumpy yet competent security expert with a firm no-relationships policy, especially not with men who exude 'golden retriever energy'—charming, friendly, and way too appealing for her own good. However, Reese's self-imposed rules are challenged when she ends up sharing more than just professional space with her disarmingly handsome coworker, Constantine (affectionately known as Cash). Cash, is everything Reese isn't. Despite his sunny disposition and considerable wealth, he's experienced his own share of heartbreak, which makes him wary yet hopeful in matters of love. His chemistry with Reese is palpable, and the forced proximity of an undercover mission at a couples' retreat only fans the flames of their attraction.

The plot thickens deliciously as what starts as a simple undercover operation spirals into a dangerous, life-threatening situation. The dynamic between Reese and Cash evolves beautifully amidst this chaos, with Reese's tough exterior slowly cracking to reveal a vulnerability that Cash is more than ready to embrace.

What sets this book apart is its perfect balance of witty banter, romantic development, and suspenseful twists. It leaves readers eagerly anticipating more adventures, hoping to see the stories of these other characters.

Cash Pierce has been burned too many times by women attracted to his good looks and money. When he joins Redemption Harbor Security, he meets the woman of his dreams... who wants nothing to do with him.
Reese grew up wealthy with overbearing and judgmental parents, the last man she wants to date is rich, charming, and overall too happy Cash. But when they hook up after a friend's wedding, she can feel herself getting attached, gets scared, and runs. When they get assigned to go undercover together on a couple's retreat, will she be able to resist him when they're living under the same roof?
I didn't read the first book, so I feel like I was missing some of the back story of the security company and some of the characters, but overall it reads as a standalone. I enjoyed the suspense aspect of the story at the retreat, especially as it showed the protective and serious side to the sweet and happy Cash. Rowan and Adalyn, the main characters in the next book, also joined the op and I'm interested to see what relationship develops from their complicated history. The pacing of the story was good, the romance was sweet, and there was a lot of tension and spice to keep me flipping pages.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Reese is a prickly, brash, in your face cyber specialist and Cash just gets under her skin. After their friends wedding they have an epic ONS but Reese vanishes before Cash awakes.

Constantine or Cash to his friends has never met a business he can't make money from. However, unlike most rich folk he keeps trying to give it away! He's enjoying this new challenge at RHS, using all his former military skills. But Reese - well she fills his every waking moment. But he a man with an abundance of patience and their latest mission will give him some forced alone-time with her.

I'm loving this series so far. Found family is always a winner for me. Families come in all shapes and sizes, some blood, some found. The banter between the team-mates and couples is witty and on point. Whilst this is Cash and Reese's story we also get to see Roman and Adalyn too. Now those two are like oil and water and it would seem there will be fireworks soon!

Plenty of action, steamy times and intrigue to keep you engaged with the story. Cash is one very determined dude and he has no problem showing his feelings. I did enjoy the scene between Reese and a certain socialite - it was a complete polite, claws out, cat-fight lol. I cannot wait to visit again!

Fighting for Reese is the second book of Katie Reus’s all-new Redemption Harbor Security series, and as a fan of the original Redemption Harbor tales, I’m one hundred percent here for them all. This stand-alone title in an interconnected series is full of action, romance, and a mystery that wraps a story of friendships making the main characters a family in this entertaining and engaging bow. And I do love stories about friends who are family despite not being blood relatives.

As a long-time fan of this author, I can honestly say I’ve yet to find a book of hers I didn’t like or love. I’ve read most of her backlist at this point, so that’s saying a lot. She’s a go-to of mine when I’m ready to devour a really good romantic suspense. And devour this one, I did. It hooked me from page one, leaving me loathe to put it down at any given point until I finished the conclusion, yet it left me wanting more of the story she teased throughout this one’s plot. The characters are believable, engaging, and diverse. The mystery was well-plotted and kept me guessing until the story arc. And the setup for the next book has me anxious for what comes next in the series.

I love me some Katie Reus romantic suspense! After having just re-read the first book in this series, I dove into this one. It can be read as a standalone, but is easier to follow if you’ve read the first book. Cash was already smitten with Reese in book 1 and I couldn’t wait to read his story. The suspense in this one was really good and I enjoyed the scenery of a remote mountain resort in the snow. Throw in some fake engagement and forced proximity and I’m a happy camper. I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first one (Jesse and Hailey ftw!), mainly because of Reese resisting Cash too long, and some unnecessary OW (what was the point?? It didn’t make any sense that his ex showed up at the resort). We did get a relentless hero that was all in from the get go and some steamy spice. A fun way to spend a couple of hours for sure!

Safety:
- OW: H’s ex (whom he was engaged to) wants him back even though she is engaged to someone else. She shows up to the resort MC’s are staying at and tries to cause trouble between them. Doesn’t cause too much drama, but was totally unnecessary. She was after H’s money.
- OM: none
- no cheating
- No separation / no third act break up
- Deals with murder and drug trafficking

2.5 🌟 rounded up

An okay follow up to the last book, but I just didn't connect with or particularly like the H, and the h was cool but nothing special. The addition of the ever-present ex-fiance of the H was super annoying and completely ruined my enjoyment. It was clear he had unresolved feelings about the relationship (not really the ow specifically) and this undermined the legitimacy of the romantic development between the h and H a bit.

Safety:
No virgins. No recent history. H was manwhore adjacent and had one serious relationship (engaged) with the ow.
No om drama.
Ow drama - H's ex-fiance texts him about wanting to get together and the h sees it. Then the ow ends up in the same resort as them whilst they are on a mission, and as a result is around the couple a lot. She wants him back/misses him etc. When the h questions him about still having the ow's number, he can't give her a straight reason as to why he hasn't blocked her. He also states that he "rarely" replies to her calls/texts, so they are still in contact. When h mentions he might not be over the ow, he doesn't deny it to her, although in his POV he thinks that he is. He also answers a call from the ow after the h and H are in a relationship, then blocks her after the call.

We met both Reese and Constantine aka Cash in book 1 of this great series. Reese is a security expert, she's grumpy and doesn't want to fall for Cash. Cash is a ray of sunshine and always in for some fun, but he wants someone who loves him for himself and not for his money. He's afraid of getting burned again like in his last relationship but feels that Reese would be different. Reese however fights her feelings tooth and nail.

When they have to go undercover at a couple's retreat there's no stopping their attraction to one another. In the midst of trying to solve the disappearance of one of the employees and trouble with a drug cartel, they have each others back, fight to keep the other safe and finally see what's right in front of them.

This was yet again an action packed story where I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what came next. I also loved that Katie gave us a glimpse into the couple that will feature in the next book. I'm dying to know the story between Rowan and Adalin and am already impatiently waiting.

*I kindly received a copy of this book by Bookfunnel and this is my honest review.*

Will security expert Reese be believable as Constantine “Cash” Pierce’s fake fiancée during their upcoming mission? There is an attraction between them, one that Reese has tried to ignore. Working for Redemption Harbor Security, they have been contacted by an employee of the Kingston Wellness Resort in Montana. The employee’s friend, Aubrey, is missing and she believes that something bad has happened to her. Cash and Reese, along with teammates Adalyn and Rowan, will visit the resort as couples to search for the missing woman. There is an issue involving other young woman who have left the resort and are receiving “severance” payments from Ben Kingston. Was Aubrey involved with him and is he responsible for her leaving the resort? When Reese and Cash witness what appears to be a payoff that turns deadly, they realize there are more serious issues now facing them. When the resort is attacked, will they find the missing woman and be able to escape with their lives? You won’t want to miss the action-packed ending to this thrilling romantic suspense! The second book in the series continues shortly after the first one ends, Hailey and Jessie's wedding. As best man and maid of honor, Reese and Cash hook up after the wedding. Reese has been fighting her attraction to Cash, because she has trust issues.iSo does Cash, but he knew Reese was the one for him shortly after they met. One of the reasons that he joined Redemption Harbor Security, aside from boredom and looking for a new challenge was being close to Reese. A case of a missing young woman sends Reese, Cash, Rowen and Adalyn to a resort in Montana. Reese and Cash are posing as a married couple, but for Cash it is real. By the end of the case Reese is all in. But meanwhile they have to find the missing woman (or corpse, because they already suspect she is dead), figure out what is going on at the resort, deal with harsh weather conditions and ferocious wildlife.

This is a very exciting story with wonderful characters, lively banter, a mystery and danger. Can't wait for number 3. I read a gifted advanced readers copy from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased, honest and voluntary review.
