Rate this book
An all-encompassing guide to entertaining, amazing, and possibly even educating children, Be the Coolest Dad on the Block provides the perfect excuse to stand on a balloon, play with grated cheese in the microwave, and unroll an entire roll of toilet paper, all in the name of spending time with your kids.Written by a comedy writer and a cartoonist with thirty years’ combined experience as dads, Be the Coolest Dad on the Block is a cornucopia of practical parenting advice, like how to skip stones or teach a kid to ride a bike. It has answers to the pesky questions kids love, such as “Why is the sky blue?” or “Where do babies come from?” And it can help dads entertain large groups of kids with slapstick gags (“burp the alphabet”) or cool tricks (“the hole in the head”). Be the Coolest Dad on the Block also contains spooky myths for telling around the campfire and loads of quizzes and jokes for rainy days or endless car rides. With a range of ideas to suit all situations and sensibilities, Be the Coolest Dad on the Block gives any dad the right stuff to be the wackiest and smartest guy in the room.

A fun, light book filled with thing you can do on short notice (meaning they don't often require a lot of prep).

There is a lot of stuff in the book, some hit and some miss. I managed to get a few eye rolls from the 9 year-old daughter so that tells me the book is spot on.

Fun read and fun activities.

Does the phrase "dad joke" mean anything to you? I was surprised I learned a better way to teach a kid to ride a bike. Why didn't I realize that! Has cool things like that. Lots of stuff you need a reminder of and even questions a child will ask that perhaps you should know the answer too. What's the diff between a croc and an alligator? Why is the sky blue? Tricks to do with a dollar bill, etc. "This book is required reading for all current or future dads." I Agree.

"I would recommend this not just for dads, but any person who spends time with children. You will learn some great tricks and be reminded of some classics you marveled at as a child.
"Looking back now we laugh at the corniness, but when my dad would do some of the stuff in this book I remembered loving it. Super cute ways for dads (or moms) to interact and keep kids attention :)

Thought my husband would like this book, but I've used it way more than he has. There is a whole chapter of fun things to entertain very little kids, so that's the chapter I reference. I like that I can just flip the book open, quickly pick something, and then shut the book to play with my kids... It is user friendly and inspires action. This would make a great gift book!
