Love the series, though this book kept making me sad with how much fighting between the friends there was. Cornelia is not my favorite character but I did get an insight on her actual emotions so I guess I got to know her better.

Ah, W.I.T.C.H. So much of my childhood was spend obsessing over the series. The books. The comics. The cartoon. The merchandise. You name it I was into it.

So why only the three stars if I loved it so much?

Well as time went by, I grew disinterested in the series. I went along with it mainly to see how it ended. I simply wanted to know what the final outcome was.

Surely that is not enough to merit three stars? You loved it!

I did, but that was because I was a pre-teen with very low expectations. This came before my vampire-loving period, so you can imagine what my standard was like. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad books – they’re simply not something I can go back to now that I’m older.

Thoroughly enjoyable at the time, but not quite so much now.

World’s Apart
Luba notices the Ora Mirrors are diminishing and uses this to try to show the Oracle W.I.T.C,H aren’t fit for their powers. The Oracle says that what Luba doesn’t know is they’re being tested. This doesn’t satisfy Luba so she plans to show the Oracle he’s wrong.

Emma thinks about how they aren’t close anymore. Cornelia spends all her time watering the plant that was once the love of her life Caleb. Will’s mother is moving away and Will has refused any ideas Irma’s had. Irma is stopped by the Interpol agents. They say they’re waiting for her father and then they’ll be going to Elyon’s house. She knows they won’t find her, but fears what they will find when they search her house. Irma’s dad says they knocked the wall down to the basement now they can see behind it. Irma knows this is where the portal is, but he says he found nothing. Irma sighs in relief. Medina stops Irma and asks what she thinks they should have found. She says nothing and then tells them see ya. She doesn’t know if they believe her but they drive off. The doorbell rings and Irma thinks it’s her dad but it’s her friends.

Taranne decides its up to her to play peacemaker. She senses their powers are diminished because they aren’t unified anymore as friends and she knows they have to stay ready for potential threats. Will (because of Tarnee) decides to hear Irma out. She says she’ll show them and they head to Similtech. The plan is to pretend to visit Will’s mom. Will asks for her mom and a woman comes out (Amanda her mom’s assistant). She lets them inside and tells them to follow her. Amanda leads them to Mrs. Vandom and Will tells her mother she needs to talk to her. Everything is going to plan. While Will distracts her mom, the others will look in her office for the transfer papers. Hay Lin checks the office but she doesn’t find Mrs. Vandom’s resignation letter. Irma pops her head in and tells her Mr. Bishop keeps all his letters in a safe (hidden behind a painting). Taranee reports Mr. Bishop is headed back, Hay Lin uses her magic to soundproof the room and tries to get into the safe. It doesn’t work. So they decide to transform. Luckily, the transformation takes.

With their combined powers they’re able to blast the safe to shards, but then they hear an alarm. Their clothes transform back. Itrna tries to shut off the fire emergency sprinklers but isn’t able to. Their powers now are completely gone! Guilt hits Will and she thinks about how it’s all her fault. In the vault, she sees smoke and then a form coming out of the smoke. The blob turns into a replica of Irma. As it looks at each girl, it morphs into all of their faces one by one. Will demands to know who it is. The blob makes its way over to the window and then jumps. When she spots it, it's headed toard Heatherfield. Will worries that they were the ones who created it.

Luba looks on happily at what the girls have created. The Ora Mirrors weren’t supposed to collide. Now all she has to do is bring them together with magic. The only one missing is Cornelia (who wasn’t apart of the mission). The Ora Mirrors created the Alta Mirror. She then goes to the Council and the Oracle to report that the Guardians have lost their powers. The Oracle says he told her there was a test being given but the test was hers. He knows about what she did with the Ora Mirrors. He is ANGRY! He says the alta mirror is made of the powers of all of them. Now one of them is vulnerable. A moment the dark forces have been waiting for. Lubra tries to apologize, but he cuts her off. He says the altamirror will seek out the last Guardian. Then their powers will be reunited. After that, he can not tell what will happen.

While at dinner, Cornelia is starting to come around and shares some laughs with her family, but then she hears a crash. Napolean (the car) has knocked over Caleb.’s flower. Her mother gives her a beautiful crystal vase to put her flowers in. On the way home, Will’s mother gives her the third degree about what happens at the office. Irma gets out miles from her house. She explains it away that she doesn’t want her to drive any further. Irma and Will agree to meet up later but her mother says it’ll have to be later. Irma says she’ll call Will knowing that Will (will) try to get away as soon as she can. They have to think of a way to get rid of the blob. Maybe she can tell her mother she’s taking a shower and then that she has a lot of homework to do. Her mom does say tho that she talked her boss into not going through with the transfer. Will is so excited she throws her arms around her mom (while she’s driving).

When Irma gets home, the Interpol agents are there. She ease drops and overhears Elyon and her parents documents were fake. They say they must be illegal aliens. Not realizing how true that is. They’re turning the case over to immigration. She lets out a cry of exclamation and is overheard by her dad and the agents. But she plays it off like she was just saying hi. The agents don’t look like they're fooled. Medina says she already said hey. She came in through the front door and grunted. Since they say she went to her room, she heads there (knowing what they saw wasn’t an astral drop). Her double is found on the ceiling. It’s holding a photograph. It makes for the window but she shuts it. She sees the photo is off Cornelia. Then the blob starts to morph into Cornelia. The door opens and it's Medina. The blob has now changed into Cornelia’s face and Irma’s body. Then it turns into Irma.

Irma lets the window open and it jumps out. Medina says she thinks she needs to rest and then leaves. T-bore and the Oracle are watching everything and discuss what’s going on. Taranee and Hay Lin try to call Cornelia but she’s not answering and they can’t get in contact with Will. So they and Irma head to Cornelia’s. As they do Hay Lin and Irma get the sense they're being followed. Oddly, Cornelia sounds like she’s happy to hear from them. They see someone running up the stairs that looks like Will running toward Cornelia’s apartment and they realize it’s the imposter.

Cornelia steps outside to give Caleb some air and hears the intercom. She goes to let her friends in. Then realizes she left her window open and the cat could have gotten in through the window. But when she gets in she finds a black bird above Caleb. Napolean fights it off and it flies out the window. She realizes that it was peeking at the flower but he appears to be fine. She sees marks on the petal tho and realizes the crow must have been in her room twice. She sees that the cat was just trying to protect Caleb. She starts to spin around with him affectionalely. She goes to greet her friends grateful. She knows things will be different.

My Thoughts
I thought about it a minute and then it came to me what to say about World’s Apart. The first thing I noticed was how some people aren’t for your good and will try to bring you down behind your back. But sometimes it comes back on them. I think the biggest theme tho was sometimes things aren’t as they appear. Luba wasn’t. The Clone (I’m gonna call it that) wasn’t (and it could fool you for a minute). Also if you didn’t know (like Cornelia’s parents) the flower might have just appearened to be a normal old flower. But the most touching example was how Cornelia didn’t think much of Napolean and yelled at him for trying to turn over Caleb’s vase when in the end he was just trying to PROTECT IT. I think that was my favorite part of the story. So it showed that you can judge a thing (or person) one way. That way might be unfavorable and then they (it) can turn out to be one of the best things that every happened to you. I'VE BEEN THERE! So for a very short book, there were so many good messages.

This was interesting seeing the girls lose themselves in fighting between each other and trying to still be their for each other. Hay Lin, Irma and Taranee work with Will to solve the problem of Will's mom transfer request in doing so they create an Altermere, losing their powers. They have to help Cornelia and try to reconnect with her. Unfortunately in the end the Altermere is absorb by Cornelia and the girls are more at odds with each other then ever. This was a brilliant re-read and very enjoyable.

Nesmím zapomenout ani na Elyon, i když udělala pár nesprávných rozhodnutí, samozřejmě i další důležité postavy : Věštce, Caleba, Joela, Orube, Cedrika, Matta, Luka, Erica, babičku Hay Lin....
Rozhodně to byla má nejoblíbenější dětská série, at už komixy nebo seriál. Doporučuji všem mladším slečnám. ;)

A brilliant 14 instalment of the chapter book series. Lots of suspense and plot twists in this one. Characters are well and truly the centre of attention in this continuation... building up more dialect for the rest of the series and with it more suspense

I didn't understand this issue when I was a child. It seemed boring to me. Right after defeating Phobos and saving Meridian we get these very ... mundane conflicts. Cornelia is "moody" and her friends struggle with everyday stuff to make their witch lives "go around".
But in reality this 3-issue long mini-act was an awesome overture to the Nerissa storyline and a wonderful opportunity to develop the girls. Conflicts between Irma and Cornelia and Will and Cornelia were delved into and in general each character became a lot deeper.
I suppose the only character being "ignored" or "skipped easily over" in this part is Hay Lin, but I think she got her comeback in the next act.

I used to like these series. Now, I don't think they're so good anymore. I got up to number 12 or something like that, and they've gone up to #26 or something... and they're still coming out!! I'm not really interested into them anymore, but I used to be.

I loved this series! All of the different girls had their own individual personalities that made the series more enjoyable to read. Also, of course the cool magical powers was a plus. I loved the character relationships and adventures the girls got themselves into.
