This was my favorite book when I was growing up. I just read it again some 50 years later, and it is still a very well told tale. I had feared all these years later, being much more aware of how horribly Americans treated Native Americans,that I would find it just a whitewashing of what really happened. Read Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee! I suppose it is wishing things had been different. It is also a very well told and exciting story.
