This book does not focus on learning to use specific technologies, it describes how various technologies can be used as cognitive tools by students to support their learning and demonstrate their understanding of the topic they are studying.
An excellent book to gain ideas about how to integrate technology in the classroom in a meaningful way. Howland et al. provide lots of real-life examples that teachers can adapt for use in their own classrooms.
Each chapter in the book is "organized around learning processes, such as inquiring, experimenting, writing, modeling, community building, communicating, designing, visualizing and assessing (Howland, Jonassen & Marra, 2012, pxi).
Read for my edtech class. Really liked the approach the authors took that focused on meaningful, authentic learning, not just flashy use of technology.
