Meet Ava Marseille, a beautiful but timid young exotic dancer from urban Atlanta. The first-born to a wandering French Creole father and a drug-addicted black mother, Ava is no stranger to chaos and unrest. From an early age, Ava has had to shoulder most of the financial and emotional responsibility of caring for herself and her younger sister. When a dispute with her mother turns violent, though, Ava finds herself on the street homeless and alone. Left with no other options, Ava turns to her cold and wealthy aunt and uncle for moral support. It is only when her uncle begins to blackmail her for his own selfish gain that Ava realizes just how little she can trust her family. She has been driven to the very edge of her sanity when she meets Bryce Carter, a handsome and ambitious rookie FBI agent. Bryce seems to have it all a rewarding career, a beautiful fiancee, and a loving and supportive family. When his path crosses with Ava, he is in the middle of Operation Crackdown, a citywide sting aimed at bringing down the most notorious and elusive illegal drug financier in Atlanta. Bryce is being pulled in several different directions as intense pressure in his work and love life slowly push him into the comfort of Ava's arms. It is only when Bryce begins to uncover Ava's many disturbing and dangerous secrets that he realizes his true destiny with her.

I loved it! It such an easy and fast read with a charming and sweet main character name Ava. When the story first begin I thought "a stripper book" and "drug addict mother" not exactly my type of book but because the author intrigued me with Ava's heart for her little sister I continued on and glad I did. The story turns into a real page turner and Ava's changes for the better and I was so glad things started looking up for Ava. Her relationship with Bryce, a FBI agent, is so dreamy and I thought things were nicely written. I also enjoyed the scene in which Ava goes shopping for a evening gown it was so descriptive and I could see her dress very clearly in my head. It almost felt like the movie "pretty woman" but as you keep reading the plot has a slight unfinished ending so I knocked off a star I suppose the author anticipates making a sequel which I wouldn't mind reading.
