Krishna: A Journey through the Lands & Legends of Krishna

Rate this book
Lord Krishna is at once historical and mythological. He is the awesome architect of His age and the illuminating mentor whose discourse, the Bhagavad Gita, is regarded as a light unto all ages. The book A Journey through the Lands & Legends of Krishna describes well known tourist places and narrates the famous legends associated with them. It also presents places that may not be known to a common man but have witnessed the glorious pastimes of Lord Krishna and associated legends. It is an innovative book that has a happy blending of a travelogue with mythological reminiscences. The centres visited are placed in a setting which gives them a tinge of human emotions; brick and marble speak to the visitor and tell stories. The past and the present mingle, and the visit becomes a memorable experience.

This book is a clever concoction of a travelogue, the legends associated with the places and the author's own experience and recomendations. After you are done reading, you would have re-visited the legends we have grown up with and also felt like you yourself have been thru these pious places.

Brij Bhumi, Kurukshetra and Dwarka have been now magically imprinted on my mind. The beauty that they were and how tourists (religious or otherwise) still flock to the region in search of God and adventure. The author seems to have had a lot of problems with the travelling, the tourist 'guides', the monkeys and even the crocodiles.

Lord Krishna is undoubtedly OM. The everything. I had tear in my eyes reading about Him and Sudama. The last meet between the Lord and his soulmate Radha is here to stay with me forever. The author, while still in the travelogue, paints such poignant scenes and emotions.

If you want to read about Lord Krishna in a very modern, logic driven and yet religiously correct book, this is it!

An immensely readable book that attempts to map the various legends about Lord Krishna with modern-day geographic locations. It can be a valuable guide for those who want to explore and track the various cities and places that are connected with the stories of Lord Krishna.
