Thank you for your service. I have no doubt you could care less, but I do actually have the greatest respect for every man/woman who served. That being said... My neck hurts. From shaking my head. I keep looking for somewhere in the book or online where the author/publisher says this is a work of fiction. I could be wrong, but I get a feeling that Harry Constance is a BS artist. Every battle, every cute anecdote, every memory from training is over-the-top. I've read dozens of books about LRRPs, SOG, SEALs, Rangers, Recon, SF, etc and if you were you to combine the most mind-boggling stories from all of them, you wouldn't scratch the paint on this collection of tales. You get a blend of John Wayne, Hunter S. Thompson, and Donald Trump rampaging through Vietnam, killing thousands of Viet Cong/NVA with very rarely his team ever getting a scratch. Take the most vile/heroic stories from straight forward books like Phantom Warriors, Across the Wire, 6 Silent Men, War Paint, Point Man, Black Jack 33, etc...and it will pale in comparison. Really?.. you hauled a refrigerator stolen from CIA through the streets of occupied My Tho while under fire during Tet? When you were done furnishing your besieged frat house, you killed 50 snipers while doing British accents in your flip flops? Tell me again about Rinny, the dog that broke the neck of a VC with one bite. Bah...whatever. I gave it 3 stars because it's entertaining in a campfire story way...and subtracted 2 for unabashed syrup-coating. I would love to hear from someone who was there. If even 75% of this book is factual...I'll apologize and the author can kick my butt.
The book I read was Good To go By Harry Constance and Randall Fuerst. The main character is Harry along with Gallagher, Bobby Osborne, Sandy, Pete Peterson, and other people. This book is in Vietnam and the U.S.A. This book is about Harry Constance, a SEAL from SEAL Team 2 who served in Vietnam. Harry served three tours in Vietnam with various people and meeting new friends and helping with different programs like the PRU program which was a program where ex Viet Cong and military personnel who would have either gotten a really bad sentence or go to the PRU program could go. In this book, Harry also talks about his civilian life like marriage problems. Harry deals with things in Vietnam like getting caught fire, getting shot at, getting surprise attacked, etc. One of my favorite parts of this book was the Tet offensive. In this part, Harry and some of his squad are on top of their hotel having fun while unknowingly, other military bases were being overrun. They found out when the gunfire started getting closer and closer until they found out what was happening and got their guns to ready up for the huge onslaught that was to come. Eventually, the hoard of NVA (North Vietnamese army) came. They survived after the streets being flooded with the enemy and had time to resupply and check for survivors. I personally really liked this book and I give it five stars. If you like this book you might also like SEAL Team Six by Howard Wasdin. Anybody who likes military or Navy SEALs or Vietnam would probably like this.

It is so very rare to be given an signed edition of an author’s book on the day you first met him, but that was the case with Harry Constance and this book. We met at a mutual friend’s house for a Super Bowl party. While the party was fine, the changes in the way I view the US Military from a historical perspective were changed by reading Harry’s first hand account of his trials (2 of them literal trials!) tribulations and BRAVERY during his 3 tours of duty as a Navy SEAL in Vietnam. The fact that I see and chat with Harry a few times a month ever since then adds layers of complexity and emotion to my reaction to the colorful, blunt, truthful words he paints within each paragraph of every chapter. I’m happy to consider him my friend and beer drinking buddy, and consider it an honor to buy him a beer or two as he personally recounts snippets of his THOUSANDS of his life for me as we enjoy a brew together. If you think that the US Military and mainstream media is dishonest now…read the book to learn how it was the case even 45 years ago. Fantastic read that changed my life for the better. READ THIS BOOK FOR YOURSELF!!
This was an engaging, gripping story of the life of a person who did what needed to be done and how he kept his chin up through hard times. I was thoroughly hooked from the first chapter.
