Was Paul familiar with Jesus’ teachings? One of the biggest critiques of Christianity is that Paul started a completely different religion. In his book, Clothed with Christ, Michael Thompson investigates that very question. He does that by looking at a section of Paul’s letter to the Romans. He does so by applying a rigorous rubric to discern whether Paul is alluding to Jesus teaching. What we see is that, while Paul does not often make explicit reference to Jesus, he frequently roots his dominical teaching in Christ’s teaching.
