The Sutter Buttes: A Naturalist's View

Rate this book
Through chapters on geology and all the classes of living things, the author invites the reader to walk through the landscape of the Sutter Buttes, a small mountain range in the upper middle of the state of California.

As David Cavagnaro states in his Foreword, "On any walk with Walt, nature becomes the greatest thing in the world, simply because he shows us in such a loving way that nature IS the world."

There are 10 appendices and checklists and the topics are indexed. This is the first edition of this title. A second edition is also available with expanded color photos and chapters.

I found this book in a thrift store and I enjoyed it so much. It's a basic guide to the flora and fauna of the Sutter Buttes but Walt Anderson's causal friendly voice makes it so fun to read. I was praising this book among some nature loving friends and learned that he has an updated version of this book out called Inland Island: The Sutter Buttes.
