This is the book that traditionally minded Catholic family women have been looking for. Long out of print, this rare jewel is destined to become the favored spiritual guide for Catholic wives and mothers. Msgr. Landriot gave these conferences over 100 years ago but they are as relevant to us today as the Gospels. Think of this book as a practical guide for women who want to achieve sanctity in the home. Reading this book is the best thing you could do for your husband and children, as well as yourself, if a common sense plan for becoming a Valiant Woman yourself is what you need. To help women to raise truly Catholic families and keep them Catholic and striving for sanctity is why this book was published. This is not a book that will be read once and then gather dust for years on the shelf. It is a handbook and will be read over and over again.
This is an excellent book. The archbishop gives timeless advice for the wife/mother. It is not a “do this not that” type of style but rather example after example of how each of the virtues, perfected in a woman, manifest themselves. Using Scripture throughout, he explains certain verses pertaining to woman and gives a model to strive for and warns of the extremes which go too far in opposite directions. He understands quite well how the feminine mind and soul operate in his cautions and advice. His writing is superior, never bogging the reader down, but the material is not light and passing as a story or novel. These conferences (as chapters) are thought provoking and meant to be reflected on to be applied to oneself. I have read a number of “mother advice” type books and only truly appreciated a few. This one I highly recommend! It’s been a couple months since I’ve read this and I still recall to mind some bits of advice or truths that were finally explained to me.
