Cully Hamner draws comics, blows his horn, and is generally too big fer his britches. He has drawn many things for many people, but he's best known for his book RED (with Warren Ellis), just released as a feature film, and until recently, he worked with Greg Rucka on "The Question," appearing monthly in DETECTIVE COMICS #854-#865, published by DC Comics. His most recent project is a prequel to RED called RED: EYES ONLY, which he both wrote and illustrated.

Not a bad anthology by a variety of writers and artists, but they were mostly short stories that didn't really have time to do more than develop a quick thrill to one degree or another. All the stories centered around the same classic model muscle car, a 1968 Camaro. The tone varies a bit, but most of them were about the criminal underworld, aside from one that may have been the best of the bunch about a young man in Vietnam dreaming of getting out and buying the car as soon as he gets home.

A collection of shorts with each piece focusing on a specific car. Some are decidedly better than others. The first three and last one are the better pieces with the stuff in between as mostly filler. Hoped to get more mileage on this one. Great art in stories one and two, and the last has a look that reminds me of DMZ in art style, though it's a different artist.

Very mixed bag of stories/plot lines, which isn’t wholly surprising as anthology.

It's cool

Ride is a cool story. I just read it digitally, but I don't recommend experiencing The Ride that way. The best would be to get the individual issues. They're not super hard to find but not easy either. If you can't get the individual issues or you're more of a graphic novel person than I'm sure Amazon will oblige. I haven't read Vol. 2 yet, but so far, it looks like the Mardi Gras issue may only be digital. Anyway, if you're a fan of the old Dark Horse Presents comics, the Ride vol 1 is for you.

So not a fan of this comic. I didn’t like the multiple stories in one. I’d didn’t really make sense.
