Unclaimed Mate: Lethal Legacy Vampire Series

Rate this book
Re-released...

Luka Petrov refused to let the brutal legacy of his Slavic vampire father and the unsavory legacy of his human mother define him. As Dhampirs, he and his brothers had vampiric powers and wealth that ensured that they were feared and revered in both the immortal and human worlds. Fate gave him a mate he neither wanted nor needed. His fated-mate was supposed to further his Slavic lineage, which was on the brink of extinction, but Luka wasn’t interested in continuing that lineage. Their legacy was steeped in blood and violence, a lethal heritage that didn’t deserve to be preserved, at least that is the reason Luka had always given. He refused to admit to the real reason, not even to himself.
Unfortunately, there were many in the immortal world that wanted to see the end of the Petrov line and were willing to violently ensure their demise.
Averse to claim his mate, and equally determined to protect and shield her from his enemies, Luka would destroy anyone who meant her harm. There was nothing he wouldn’t do to protect her.
Luna Cambridge didn’t understand the immortal world she’d been suddenly thrust into. Being told that the man she had only seen in her dreams was her fated-mate had initially made her heartbeat accelerate with the possibilities, and then she met his mistresses. No power on heaven or earth would compel her to give in to the fated-mate allure with a man who had so little respect for women, and certainly had no concept of monogamy. Fate made a mistake, and she wasn’t about to be lured into a path that is destined to fail spectacularly

The first romance novel I ever read was Cinderella! I devoured Disney’s version of romance until I was eleven, and then I discovered Mills & Boons. In those days kissing was the most explicit intimacy disclosed: the hero and heroine went to bed and came out the next day with smiles! I had no idea what happened, but I was intrigued. My mom had shelves and shelves of them. Over the long summer breaks, I barely left my bedroom! My busy parent had no idea what I was up to. I’ve always been fascinated with love stories. I started writing in college, but I never expected anyone would ever read my whimsical musings. LOL! Now years later, after husband and kids, and a solid career in finance I’ve started publishing those early ideas.

I write my stories so that every woman would be inspired to find the other half of themselves. With every story I tell, my Caribbean sisters are highlighted. Our culture is a melting pot of all ethnicities, where love has no color. We love who we love and make no apology for it. These stories are also infused with my love for sports and action thrillers. I’m an avid sports fan. Tennis, football, track and basketball are my favorites. I devour dramas and action movies. So it’s to be expected that my books have a healthy dose of adventure.

Writing romance novels has been a dream I never knew I had. It was born out of suddenly having a little extra time with the kids out of the house. I absolutely love this creative outlet.

Author’s Creed
I like women strong, and my men stronger!
I like my sex raunchy but meaningful!

I’m sorry I couldn’t get past the writing. Also Luka’s POV is so irritating and I hate the constant breaking of fourth wall. It reads like a narrator on a Netflix originals. Just because you say its “dark” and “mature” doesn’t make it dark or mature it reads very YA. I feel disappointed cause it came highly reviewed. I must be the anomaly so I personally didn’t like it who’s to say maybe this is good I’m just a tough critic.

The ending saved this, as it was a 2⭐️ rating for me until the last few chapters. This had so much potential, and it was recommended by someone I usually agree with, unfortunately, not this time. I will give book 2 a chance because of the ending and hope for improvement.

Great supernatural romance story with loads of action.

It took me a while to warm up to (or tolerate) Luka; I almost gave it 2.5 stars. However, it ended on a pleasant note. Luna and Luka came to terms with their feelings and got their HEA. The epilogue was a nice addition.

But this isn’t the end, the story continues through the eyes of Luka’s equally super powerful brothers.

Luna & Luka! 🔥🔥

Luka and Luna are the IT couple! Luna is my type of girl, holding her own and nobody's fool. Luka was under the mistaken impression he could get Luna's attention with his wealth, WRONG!! This book was hilarious, action-packed, and just darn good. This is an awesome start to a series. I can't wait for the rest. That offspring is going to be a hot damn mess!

Readers get your bottle of wine, snacks, and blanket ready. You're not going to move for a while.

Enjoyable

That was different from the other books 📚 I read. But I must say I like it. The super natural thing 😍 was good. As an author it's good to change it up every now and then. It was worth the read. I enjoyed this book like all the others that she wrote. And I can't wait to see what is next in this series of books. What will happen to Adam and Warren. Drako and Xander when their mates come into play.

Great read.

I could not put this book down once I started. I even had my Kindle read it to me while I was at work. Luka fought his attraction to Luna until he couldn't any more. The imagination you put into writing this book paid off. I can't wait to read about Drako and Xander. Please don't make me wait long. I love a good Paranormal romance. You are one of my favorite Authors and I'm always checking to see if you published a new book.

Phenomenal!

In-credible writing! Luka is a boss through and through. If you enjoy alphas who literally meet their uber-feminine (I see you, Luna!) match, this swoony, intriguing epic tale (part 1!) is for you.

Interesting & well written

One of my favorite topics…vampires. I enjoyed the world building and intrigue of this book. The back story of the Russian cardinals was in interesting twist. Curses, witches, and werewolves abound.

C plus

I loved that the female Luna was smart and did not play dumb when told of the danger she was in but the male Luka was almost unlike able and dumb. If his blood would protect his mate and child why hesitate. Also the ending was rushed and the child is so smart but don't want to tell her Dads about a plot to lower defenses. Dumb and why isn't the child in the room with the parents knowing EVERYBODY is looking for her and her Mama who can produce more kids. This author seems to have changed the writing style and the sexy chemistry and alpha man and aloha woman he loves is NOT in the book. A bunch of slime balls fetishing over a black woman.

3 1/2 stars

It’s a decent book it started off really good after you get passed the prologue. The book has good plot but does feel a tad bit drawn out the main male “Luka” was annoying like 70% of the book and then he finally came to his senses. Honestly the love story was rushed to me besides the fact they are “Fated Mates” nothing indicates they are falling in love there was no fluff to show that they had fallen in love with one another further proving the MC’s fears that luka didn’t really love her but it was the mates bond I don’t think the book was fully fleshed out in my opinion I don’t think it needs a second book pertaining this love story but perhaps less of their thought and telling us every little detail about what’s happening and more of a scope on the important things in the story but I would read the sequel just to see what happens. It’s a decent and good book just not what I had expected

A Page Turner With Unexpected Twists…

Can’t wait to see the other brothers find their fated mates and would not mind reading more of Zora’s adventures, wondering if her fated mate was watching her or finding out why that wolf was where he was not supposed to be.

3.50 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Unlimited Edition 325 page e-book. Book 1 of a series.

Setting: Current day in New York City.

Trope: Paranormal. Dhampirs, Vampires & Werewolve. Fated mates.

Main characters:
1. Luna Cambridge, heroine, is a 20-year-old human woman and recent college graduate.
2. Luka Petrov, hero, is a wealthy powerful 400 year-old Dhampir who appears as a 36 year-old.
3. Alexis Petrov, a Slovakian natural born vampire who sired Luka, Drako and Xander with his fated mate, a dysfunctional promiscuous human woman. Alexis usually scents his son's fated mates before they do. Alexis has other made vampire children-Adam is one and villain of this story.
4. Zora, daughter of Luna and Luka, is a super powerful 2nd generation Dhampir.
5. Owen, is an alpha wolf who heads the wolves who protect the Petrov family.

This is an interesting and well written story: the world building, character development and pacing is on point. Luka, the eldest natural born son, has vowed to have mistresses and not claim is mate because of the infidelity of his mother and the inability of Vampires like his father and Dhampirs to desire any woman other than his fated mate once the bond is made. This story depicts how Luka and Luna become complete their fated mate bond and start their family. There is also lots of action scenes with fights with his jealous brother and his followers. This is a good read. Drako's story is next.

A different kind of vampire.

This story delves into a riveting world where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, blending elements of romance, paranormal, and suspense seamlessly. In this tale, D. M. Mortier crafts a narrative that centers around Luka Petrov, a Dhampir, and Luna Cambridge, an unsuspecting protagonist thrust into the tumultuous world of the paranormal. Luna Cambridge is a seemingly ordinary girl whose life takes a drastic turn when she discovers she is the fated mate of Luka Petrov, a member of the enigmatic Dhampir lineage. Despite Luna's desire for a normal life, fate has other plans as she finds herself entangled in a web of danger and desire.

Luka’s character is depicted as a conflicted figure, torn between his primal instincts and his desire to protect Luna from the dangers that lurk within his world. Despite his initial reluctance to accept the mate bond, Luka's undeniable attraction to Luna draws him closer to her, setting the stage for a gripping romance fraught with tension and longing. The dynamics between Luka and Luna are characterized by intense chemistry and simmering passion that leaps off the pages. Their relationship serves as the heart of the narrative, driving the plot forward as they navigate the treacherous landscape of their supernatural reality.

There are a lot of things I enjoyed about this book and a few nitpicky things I didn’t.

I really struggle when the characters are resistant to their connection. While I understood Luna’s , Luka was incredibly annoying with his being mommy issues and not trusting women. In fact it took almost a third of the book for me to even start mildly liking him. Not to mention his need for his harem even after finding his mate. He was extra annoying about it and he doesn’t really warm up to the idea of a fated mate till 60% and that’s also around the time I started to mildly tolerate him.

The book starts as a dual pov but by 70% we start to get other characters pov and that was kind of annoying bc I really didn’t care about them. It also took me out of the story when we would pause to get a characters entire lore in the midst of something happening.

I did enjoy this though and I’m looking forward to Drako and Xander’s books

Great Paranormal Read. This is my first immersion into the world of vampires and oh my God I couldn't have selected a better book to begin my journey. This parallel universe of vampires, werewolves and witches is well-executed and perfectly paced with a brilliant cast of characters, salacious sex scenes and strong family bonds. The leading protagonists Luka and Luna are fate-mated but Luka with his cold and somewhat callus demeanour digs in his heels. He thought he was impervious to love until he met her. Luna is a strong female with quick wit and an always ready clap back and I'm here for it. I loved them both tremendously and thoroughly enjoyed this captivating, extremely entertaining paranormal tale. With great anticipation I look forward to the next book of the Lethal Legacy Vampire Series. I can't recommend this one enough. Loved it!

This was mmm mmm good.

Unclaimed Mate was the best Vampire or rather Dhampir story I've read in a while. But Luka got on my last nerve with is selfish arrogant behavior. Those foolish mistresses pissed me off too. I wasn't too bothered by Luna. I thought she was bada** . I loved the siblings devotion to each other and how the family came to together was epic. Zora was lilbada** The entire story was mmm mmm good. I like the quotes as well. One of favorite: Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles leaps fences penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.... Maya Angelou. And I feel like D.M. Mortier has really evolved as a writer. She done a fantastic job. I'm following her works and I'm on to the next book.
