Basically, this whole volume can be described by Shusei needing to grow up. He's been acting like an asshole for two volumes now.

Aoi and Shuusei take Kouta to the amusement park. But when Kouta asks if they are together Shuusei’s response makes Kouta turn cold on him and he spends the rest of the trip working to make Kouta like him again. Which he does.

Wataru, a new neighbor, decides to befriend Aoi. Although she tries to hide the fact that she and Shuusei are living together. He doesn't care and flat out tells Wataru that they are sharing an apartment. This of course causes Aoi to worry but Wataru tries to comfort her and says he won't tell anyone her secret. Though he does start to show his feelings towards Aoi.

During Wataru's welcome party, Aoi unintentionally drinks some alcohol and tries to get Shuusei to do whatever he wants with her, but he refuses. Which I loved, no good guy is going to sleep with a drunk girl. That's just messed up.

Aoi ends up in the men’s baths with Wataru, as she was too lost in her thoughts about Shuusei to see she went into the wrong baths. Shuusei doesn't even seem to care that he found them together. I swear, this guy is great at playing like he doesn't give a crap. Later, Wataru tells Shuusei that if he is the cause of Aoi's tears, he will take Aoi for himself and make sure she doesn't cry anymore.

This one is much better than 3-4 thank goodness! I was hoping this would be the case and I'm so glad I was right! I also love Wataru and hope he sticks around for a while. He's a sweetheart and is it wrong that part of me wants Aoi with Wataru? The art style is still great and I'm so glad to see the plot moving in a direction that I can enjoy and follow along with.

They're all so immature and dense it's ridiculous. This new character is the only one who seems to understand basic human interactions.

Well this volume was surprisingly painful. Aoi and sushei have the same dynamic. He is still trying to annoy her every chance he gets and after the almost kiss they are more apart than ever. Summer break is over and they have to go back to school. Some students were expelled due to their summer activities and how they were close to the other sex (this is so weird) so the school rules are even more strict now and Moe is worried about Aoi. She doesn’t want her to get expelled. The landlady asks them to take care of her kid because she needs to go shopping by herself to find good deals and they take the kid to the amusement park. Aoi thinks that maybe they look like wife and husband and at least they can spend time together. They go to have lunch and the kid asks them if she always cooks for him and if they are married. Then he decides to ask if they shared a bath previously and gets angry with sushei. Aoi spends more time with the kid and sushei seems angry but at the house of horrors he pranks Aoi so she will scare the kid and he gets closer to him again because he is scared of Aoi.
Back in school Aoi discovers that she has a new neighbor who happens to attend the same school. She tries to hide sushei because she doesn’t want anyone knowing they now live together. The new neighbor is actually really nice and gifts her a spices set so she can cook. She sees him at the supermarket and sushei is there and she tries to avoid him because she doesn’t want the neighbor to know. It seems like sushei doesn’t care about getting caught. In the end one morning sushei tells the new neighbor that they are living together. Aoi doesn’t understand why he did it but now her secret is revealed and she is scared. Wataru understands now why she was always acting so weird around him and Aoi apologizes. Wataru is actually a good guy and he doesn’t deserve that kind of treatment. After seeing her crying he won’t say a word about her roommate situation. Later on the land lady spends some time with wateru and decides to organize a welcoming party for him and invites sushei and Aoi along. They will go camping and they will make a bbq and her kid will be there so sushei is fine with it. During the camping they talk a lot and wateru explains that his dad lives in China and her mom left him and his three sisters behind. He grew up listening to them talking about boyfriends and guys so he understands. The land lady is drinking a lot and talks about sushei and Aoi and how they seem to be together. Wateru says that he is kind of jealous of their bond and sushei tells him he can take Aoi home with him if he’d like. The kid offers Aoi a drink and it has alcohol so she gets drunks really quick. She tries to get closer with sushei and hugs him and he is uncomfortable and says she left her barriers off really easily but she doesn’t care since it’s him. Sushei tells her not to be stupid and leaves and doesn’t sleep with her. Wateru is there to help her and the next morning Aoi tries to apologize to sushei for what happened. She was drunk and she doesn’t feel comfortable apologizing for what she did but she wants things to go back the way they were, however sushei is not into it. Later on Aoi gets into the men’s bath by mistake and wateru is there and covers her. She feels stupid and confess how scared she is for hurting and making sushei uncomfortable. She is worried about it. Wateru thinks they share a bond and they will have difficult and bad days but it will be okay. Sushei caught them together but he says she doesn’t have to explain herself to him. Later on wateru talks to him and asks him what he feels for Aoi Chan. Sushei doesn’t want to tell him and he asks him about his confession. Sushei thought he would never rat him out but it was a pretty big risk. Wateru tells him he is unable to see that he is constantly making her cry and if he doesn’t change that he will take her home with him.
Honestly this volume was painful to read because Aoi was extremely sad. Her feelings for sushei are growing but he seems oblivious. After all the drama with his brother and the almost kiss I was expecting them to get closer but now they are more apart than ever. Aoi is worried about people finding out about their life. She treasures her life with him but he didn’t have a problem telling a stranger about the fact that they live together. Sometimes he will get closer to her and then he will prank her. Wateru was there for her and tried to understand what was happening. It was really cute because I think Aoi needs someone who supports her and he always listens to her. Sushei only jokes when he’s around her and treats her really poorly so idk how the author is going to convince me he’s the better option, when wateru is there. Aoi was also scared of him knowing it but he wants to help her as his neighbor and I think he was always looking out for her and listening talk about her feelings which was extremely cute. Idk what will happen in the next volume but I think she will get closer with wateru and sushei will act as if he doesn’t care and nothing happened. He apologized for hugging him and telling him she was okay with him “attacking her” and now he seems angry which doesn’t make any sense.

Ok, the love triangle is really interesting and the main male character is getting more likable. However, Aoi is getting a bit annoying

the first chapter was really cute them hanging out at the amusement park and shusei being jealous when kota (the landladys child) wanted to hang out w aoi more
there was a rejection and her unrequited love stuff does hit
I like the new guy
shusei is still an asshole I need for him to grow up and for aoi to stop letting him walk all over her??? not to say she's spineless I think she's just weak when it comes to him
shes been known to throw a punch or two which makes it extra frustrating the way she lets him treat her .

Ugh, Shuusei! What the heck is wrong with you man?! You tease her, you tell her things she's going to remember for the right reasons and then you act like an arse! You are driving me crazy, mister! I wouldn't blame her if Aoi went for the new love interest in the story because I'm starting to lose the want for you two to get together... *sigh*

Off to start Volume 6.

Summary:
Aoi wants to admit her feelings to Shusei more than ever, but then a sweet guy named Wataru becomes her neighbor and befriends Aoi. The more time Aoi spends with Wataru the more she realizes how much they have in common (cooking) and how well he treats her. After awhile, Aoi can't help but compare Shusei's teasing and harassment to Wataru who listens to her. Wataru indirectly causes Aoi to begin questioning her feelings for Shusei.

My Rating:
4.5 or 4.7 stars. (I rounded up to 5)

My Review:

I loved this first scene in this novel. It's very innocent and I wish the tone of this scene was seen throughout the volumes. Truthfully, the mood that this scene sets is how I originally imagined this series to read.

Just when Aoi is head of heels of Shusei, a boy from their school, Wataru becomes their neighbor. Wataru is gentle mannered, polite, sweet, and a loyal friend. But it's clear to everyone but Aoi that he isn't interested in just being friends. Wataru and Aoi keep running into each other at school and at the grocery store and find out they have a lot in common, they both love cooking!

This whole scene made me think Aoi you're wasting your time with Shusei! Why are you going for the guy who mistreats you? I just want to tell her Wataru is such a nice guy, you would be happier with him! If I was in this book, even if I did have a major crush on Shusei, I would totally go for Wataru in a heartbeat. Wataru is kind, he treats her with respect, listens to her, and he truly cares about her feelings, unlike someone else we know in this story.

After spending more and more time with Shusei and discovering her secret that she lives with Shusei, Wataru is pretty quick to catch on that Aoi has feelings for Shusei. Despite this, he continues to be by Aoi's side and support her.

I really enjoyed this volume. It was much more light hearted and there weren't any scenes where Aoi was being mistreated, yay! I loved the playfulness of Aoi and Shusei when they are with Kouta. I also loved that they introduced Wataru to the storyline because he is the complete opposite of Shusei. Introducing Wataru added a little bit of a twist in the plot, because we can tell that Aoi likes him, but does she like him more than Shusei is the question. I really love Wataru and I am curious to see what happens with him.

After I finished reading Hart & Seoul, I had the chance to finally get back to some of my Kindle Unlimited books before my subscription ran out. I decided to continue on reading this series, and the story flew by. However, I think the story flew by because it is a manga and not because I was really invested in the story. It did take me about halfway into the story to become invested to feel like I wanted to see the manga through to the end. I think this may have been because it had been a while since I last read this series.

I didn't mind the major plot twist in this book. I like it when romantic rivals come in because they can cause the main characters to confront their feelings to keep each other. It'll be more interesting to read the later books in the series now.

I'll probably read the next manga soon because I have 11 days before my subscription runs out. I'll continue with this series as much as I can before the time is up. I am looking forward to reading the other books. This book was a lot of set up.

AH! This is so stressful! I still don't know what to think. But I have to say my favorite part was the husband and wife thing. I realized it before it was even said. The thing that cracks me up the most has to be the bickering between the two. No wonder people say *cough* the landlady *cough* that they are like husband and wife. Let's see how I feel after another volume, shall we?

I like this very silly series enough to read multiple volumes available in English in three days. While the premise can be absurd and it often is overly exaggerated, it’s funny and the main two characters are interesting.

Oh I like Wataru. He’s nice and calm compared to all the other nutty characters that have randomly showed up lol.
Shusei is so adorable when he blushes. I’m ready for these two to be together! They have such good chemistry..,
