I puffed Less than 5x in my 20s and I toLd peopLe that marijuana had no effect on me at aLL. Turns out, I wasn’t inhaLing!!!! 😂 I didn’t figure that out untiL my mid 3os! I didn’t smoke, as there was no need to, but when I finaLLy did, I knew that I had never inhaLed before that moment. I was in L.A. testing some herb product and whew!!! 5 hours Later, I was stiLL experiencing the effects. I became paranoid because it was not wearing off and aLL I couLd do was Laugh. My cheekbones hurt and my rib cage was sore from Laughing. 😅 But, I knew had discovered something that was heaLing.

Smoking marijuana is no Longer considered to be bad behavior. (Page 187) “I think the behavior shouLd be normaLized.” -psychiatrist Dr. JuLie HoLLand (Page 186)

Decades of research have now shown that cannabinoids and endocannibinoids heLp reguLate sLeep, appetite, psychoLogicaL weLL-being, and many more vitaL functions. (Page 11)

The endocannabinoid system accomplishes five things: reLaxation, eating, sLeeping, protection, and forgetting. Forgetting might not actuaLLy be a bad thing. Don’t think forgetting is Less important than recaLLing.

With the mind Liberated from mundane thought patterns, new ideas emerge into consciousness. (Page 143)

Chronic marijuana use increases neurogenesis in aduLts, thus reducing the chances of deveLoping Alzheimer’s. (Page 144)

Marijuana fights cancer and stimuLates neurogenesis. (Page 157)

It is NOT better to be sick and suicidaL than to be high. (Page 163)

Marijuana reLieves many of the aches and pains that come with aging. (Page 187)

During the height of the drug war with RonaLd Reagan and the first Bush, marijuana was strategicaLLy demonized through connection with the new devastating crack cocaine crisis. (Page 186)

I was recentLy speaking with my Father who never reaLLy was too big on marijuana smoking, but he used heavy drugs Like crack cocaine and heroine. He toLd me that marijuana is not a gateway drug. When he wanted to get high, marijuana was not a choice. It had nothing to do with his drug use. Heavy hitting drugs and marijuana are in two entireLy different categories. The drugs he used couLd’ve kiLLed him. He’s been cLean 26 years now. … the gateway theory is discussed on page 158, and has not been proven to be true.

… “no one cares if you smoke a joint or not.” - ArnoLd Schwarzenegger, as Governor of CA

…ingesting it actuaLLy decreases the Likelihood of deveLoping a number of serious and costLy iLLnesses. (Page 188)

You won’t hurt your Liver and you won’t die of an overdose, but you wiLL protect yourseLf from cancer and dementia… this is undeniabLy now supported by science. (Page 189)

Marijuana discourages the deveLopment and progression of Lung cancer, head and neck cancers, coLon cancer, pancreatic cancer, other cancers, ALzheimers disease, ALS, Parkinson’s Disease, and brain damage from aLcohoL. It creates heaLthy new brain ceLLs, it protects us from injury, it makes sex more enjoyabLe, it makes eating more pLeasurabLe, it makes going to a museum a reveLation, so why shouLdn’t we be using it? (Page 190)

ALL things in moderation. I am definiteLy sharper after reading this book. It’s oLder, and since it’s pubLishing date, Laws have shifted, but this book can give a brief history of marijuana in the United States.

ALso, this book has 222 end notes, cited sources. I read some of them. Very heLpfuL. 😀

A truly eye-opening book that dismantles every shred of "scientific evidence" and propaganda the government has been fabricating about cannabis for the past 80 years. Do you personally know someone that sincerely believes that cannabis is more dangerous than alcohol? That cannabis causes lung cancer, or destroys brain cells? This book will not only help prove false any argument that they may come up with, but also give insight as to why cannabis is actually a healthier alternative than most other man-made drugs. Not only an alternative; but a unique, harmless, natural drug that is remarkably beneficial for the human body in more ways than one.

A revelation in the benefits surrounding marijuana use

The author did a great job summarizing a wide body of research into an easily digested and interesting read. He also, rightly so, instills a feeling of frustration and anger due to the oppression and over-regulation of this plant and the benefits it provides.

Excellent history of marijuana since 1937 verifying US Government's failure to publish science regarding benefits of cannabis...

Even though this has some data, and historical facts in it, it is a very opinionated piece that is skewed towards an emotional response to the cannabis use for medical. Even if one is in favor, using words like ignorant in a line to describe those opposed may or may not be true, but is not a very unbiased, or scientific approach towards convincing someone on your side. Describing the acts, you can do, and let the reader decide. But, when this author used adjectives like that, I lost respect for the writing. This comes off, to be honest, as a lengthy term paper for a persuasive piece, that throws in their own opinions to make their case. I gave it three stars because of some of the facts that were included, but honestly, there are other books that do a better job, and stay in the realm of science and facts that I prefer.

this is the first book I have read on the subject of cannabis. it dismantles the years of propaganda established by the government and big pharma to promote fear towards this full spectrum medicine. very comprehensive and without dispute, one of the most informative books out there. I am now reading, the cannabis health index, by Uwe blesching. this is an amazing book as well to have on your coffee table.

One of the best Health related books I have ever read. This book exposes the propaganda regarding the government's lies surrounding the benefits of cannabis and also proves the benefits and healthiness of cannabis for relief of pain and the prevention of cancer and Alzheimer's. This is a must read for anyone interested in improving the quality of life through healthy living.
