This is a huge favourite with my boys (ages 3-9). We love the variety of styles and the humour.

I love cats, and I love poetry, but this just didn't do it for me. The illustrations are well done.

From tree to sky
to people going by
all have perspective
on the cat up high.

The story unfolds
as each viewpoint is told
bringing life to the tale
of a cat brave and bold.

Charming and witty
depths of complexity
capture the essence
of the intrepid kitty.

I would like to use this book to have my readers begin to read like writers. I would use this during a unit where students learn about animals and have them write their own poetry on animals as this text have and I would allow students to craft their writing after this text.

All poetry - but each poem is in different voices and different styles - but it is supposed to complete the narrative. Some are more hard to follow than others. My daughter, age 10, only "got" about half of them and she is pretty literate.

I did not like this book at all, but I kept reading to my Kindergarten class and they liten. I think it could have been done better.

Very witty and whimsical. As someone who owns cats, it is obvious to me that the writer knows cats well. I'd definitely recommend to other cat lovers, and lovers of poetry and picture books.
