Robert Kolb (PhD, University of Wisconsin) is Mission Professor of Systematic Theology emeritus at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He is the author of numerous books including The Genius of Luther’s Theology and is coeditor of The Book of Concord (2000 translation).

It is clear that Kolb has a firm grasp on the theology of the Lutheran denomination. But what seems equally clear is that he could have used another round or two of editing when the book was published as there are passages that make little sense.

I just finished reading the Logos version of this book and found it quite an enjoyable and easy read.

This book supplies a comprehensive coverage of the Christian Faith with a Lutheran emphasis - and probably is not a bad place to start if you want to find out what most (many) Lutherans believe.

I did think his sections on Spiritual Gifts and Ordination of Women were a bit short and a bit dismissive - but that could also be because I wasn't in exact agreement with the Author in these areas. Given the size of the book, I think this can be forgiven and thus my 5 star rating.

This is Systematic theology from the Lutheran perspective in a very palatable form. A very logically presented, interesting read.
