The Lost Daughter
Would you live a lie to keep your child? In 1977, pregnant Genevieve Russell disappeared. Twenty years later, her remains are discovered and Timothy Gleason is charged with murder. But there is no sign of the unborn child. CeeCee Wilkes knows how Genevieve died - because she was there. She also knows what happened to the missing infant, because two decades ago CeeCee made the devastating choice to raise the baby as her own. Now Timothy Gleason is facing the death penalty, and CeeCee has another choice to make. Tell the truth and destroy her family. Or let an innocent man die to protect a lifetime of lies.

Before the Storm
Fifteen-year-old Andy Lockwood is special. Others notice the way he blurts out anything that comes into his mind, how he cannot foresee consequences, that he's more child than teenager. But his mother sees a boy with a heart as open and wide as the ocean.

Laurel Lockwood lost her son once through neglect. She's spent the rest of her life determined to make up for her mistakes, and she's succeeded in becoming a committed, protective parent—maybe even overprotective. Still, she loosens her grip just enough to let Andy attend a local church social—a decision that terrifies her when the church is consumed by fire. But Andy survives…and remarkably, saves other children from the flames. Laurel watches as Andy basks in the role of unlikely hero and the world finally sees her Andy, the sweet boy she knows as well as her own heart.

But when the suspicion of arson is cast upon Andy, Laurel must ask herself how well she really knows her son…and how far she'll go to keep her promise to protect him forever.

The Bay at Midnight
Her family's cottage on the New Jersey shore was a place of freedom and innocence for Julie Bauer—until her seventeen-year-old sister, Isabel, was murdered.

It's been more than forty years since that August night, but Julie's memories of her sister's death still shape her world. Now someone from her past is raising questions about what really happened that night. About Julie's own complicity. About a devastating secret her mother kept from them all. About the person who went to prison for Izzy's murder—and the person who didn't.

Faced with questions and armed with few answers, Julie must gather the courage to revisit her past and untangle the complex emotions that led to one unspeakable act of violence on the bay at midnight.

Secrets She Left Behind
One afternoon, single mother Sara Weston says that she's going to the store—and never returns. In her absence, she leaves her teenage son alone with his damaged past and a legacy of secrets.

Keith Weston nearly lost his life in an act of arson. He survived—but with devastating physical and emotional scars. Without his mother, he has no one to help him heal, no money, nothing to live for but the medications that numb his pain. Isolated and angry, his hatred has one tight focus: his half sister, Maggie Lockwood.

Nineteen-year-old Maggie Lockwood spent a year in prison for the acts that led up to the fire. Now she's back home. But her release cannot free her from the burden of guilt she carries. She grew up with Keith Weston, played with him as a child…and recently learned they share the same father.

Now the person Keith despises most is the closest thing he has to family—until Sara returns. If Sara returns….

Diane Chamberlain is the New York Times, USA Today and (London) Sunday Times best-selling author of 28 novels. The daughter of a school principal who supplied her with a new book almost daily, Diane quickly learned the emotional power of story. Although she wrote many small “books” as a child, she didn’t seriously turn to writing fiction until her early thirties when she was waiting for a delayed doctor’s appointment with nothing more than a pad, a pen, and an idea. She was instantly hooked.

Diane was born and raised in Plainfield, New Jersey and lived for many years in both San Diego and northern Virginia. She received her master’s degree in clinical social work from San Diego State University. Prior to her writing career, she was a hospital social worker in both San Diego and Washington, D.C, and a psychotherapist in private practice in Alexandria, Virginia, working primarily with adolescents.

More than two decades ago, Diane was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, which changed the way she works: She wrote two novels using voice recognition software before new medication allowed her to get back to typing. She feels fortunate that her arthritis is not more severe and that she’s able to enjoy everyday activities as well as keep up with a busy travel schedule.

Diane lives in North Carolina with her significant other, photographer John Pagliuca, and their odd but lovable Shetland Sheepdog, Cole

Out of this collection i read The Lost Daughter. I must say that this book is a fantastic read. It captivated me from the very first page. I got lost in the book and as i turned each page i couldnt wait to find out what was going to happen. I was thrilled that the main character CeCe was safe throughout her life after becoming Eve, but i was sad at the end when she lost her self control. Marian + Naomi kept on telling her not to let her guard down and eventually she did. But i gave this 4 stars because I wanted to know exactly what was happening, and i couldnt read it fast enough. Truly an inspirational read and i was just drawn in from the very beginning. I cant wait to read some more of Diane Chamberlain books.

The Lost Daughter is an absorbing tale of love and retribution. Chamberlain writes with her customary insight into the minds and actions of her characters. The storyline is gripping - we knew from the outset that CeeCee/Eve would confess to her past wrongs - but that didn't detract at all from the tension and narrative drive. And I for one was glad that she found peace after a life of turmoil and guilt. Corinne wasn't as likeable a character so it was a bonus that Eve's influence eventually prevailed and she too did the right thing.

I read the lost daughter. At the beginning of this book i was a bit confused as it started with corinne and then the next chapter was about cece but after these initial chapters i got into the book. I'm so pleased i read this book and once again will miss the main characters as i have become emotionally involved with them.

This is not the only book by this author that i will read as i enjoyed this book a great deal.

Would recommend this author to anyone who loves Jodi picoult's books :)

Have read the lost daughter, great book. The writing style of this author is quite similar to Jodie Picoult in the way she flips between characters each chapter. This is sometimes a bit confusing but it all makes sense in the end. However the content of her books is far more interesting than picoult and I would say her books are consistently good.
