Lee Falk, born Leon Harrison Gross (April 28, 1911 - March 13, 1999), was an American writer, theater director and producer, best known as the creator of the popular comic strips The Phantom and Mandrake the Magician. At the height of their popularity, these strips attracted over 100 million readers every day. Falk also wrote short stories, and he contributed to a series of pulp novels about The Phantom
The 5th adventure in the very popular comic strip series. Plot involves royalty, kidnapping, a little romance and of course plenty of adventure. Only one villain but he is nasty enough! There is some light humor in the dialogue which helps this good example from the series involving the masked hero who never dies. Nostalgia Press put out many reprints of comic strip serials such as Flash Gordon, Terry and the Pirates and others. Quality paper and color panels on the back cover. There were also some 20+ novels adapted from the comic strips and published by Avon in the 1970’s. It is difficult, though, reading it as one whould have in the newspaper supplements. 4 panels a day only, 6 days a week(Sundays are different stories), but it’s alright to cheat and read them straight through the whole week. If you try to read more than 4 panels a day the story will seem too simple!
