With this book- the "Fighting Colours" series really hits its stride. This is the Iconic "Huey" the workhorse of the Vietnam War- the Cold War in Europe and the Middle East - and a type that still flies a lot of missions today both military and civil. But where other books in the series featured colour painted silhouettes amid prose and small b/w pics, this one goes whole hog for Colour pics- 3-8 per page- and all good shots that really help the gamer/modeller. I was impressed with how many shots they get in- and there are still a few b/w pics to fill out the prose sections. It's voluminous.

This is the Iconic American type for Vietnam- the Chariot of the Skytroopers of the Airmobile formations -as well as most other LZs. And then it soldiered on into the 1990s- as it was supplanted and replaced by the Blackhawk. But this book takes you on a tour of other air forces that employed the type. Canada , Germany, Holland, and the other NATO countries used them a lot -seen here- with Italian Agusta-Bell Producing it under licence. But also Australia, Brazil, Iraq, Japan and a few others get some cool shots- in good colour- well lit. I was really impressed - and my attention was held all the way through.

With zero adult concepts and gore- this is a fine book for the Helo-mad junior reader from about 8 on up. For the Gamer/Modeller/Military Enthusiast- this is a great treasure trove of information. The Special operations Squadron Camo pics alone were a revelation to me (thought they were dark grey)- and there were other schemes I had not seen at all before. Even if you can't find the version you want to model- I bet some other pics will help you paint your special areas (Helos have a lot of Warning Signs and Special Instructions painted on them- there are close ups of many). If the Cold war is your bag- this is a good book for your library.

This is a pretty good book about the different color and camoflauge arrangements of Huey helicopters. This book gets a little boring after awhile, just reading captions about different colors. I would recommend this book to older readers that like learning about different camoflauge arrangements of Huey's. I really like the pistures in this book. HG
