Scooby and the gang are putting on a haunted house attraction for Halloween, but they get scared when their pumpkins seem to be haunted, changing expressions overnight.
A simplistic and sort of dumb mystery does little for me, but my daughter liked it well enough when she was three.
Scooby Doo and the gang set up a haunted house. Scooby isn't a fan of the spooky pumpkins. The next day, the pumpkins are happy rather than spooky. The mystery is figuring out what happened to the pumpkins.
This book is for early readers and sometimes uses pictures in place of words. Rather than spell out the character's names, a picture is used. Also, a picture is used in place of words for pumpkins, house, ghost, and various others words throughout the story. I'm not a fan of this style book, but my son enjoyed the story. Good for fans of Scooby Doo.
I am not a fan of these picture clue books. I mean, why draw a box but then type out the word different or kitchen. this particular one has flashcards in the back, which is nice, but I don't really recommend this book. there is no bad guy as the story is based on a miscommunication so that might be a bright point for some people.
So this book is aimed at early readers and attempts to help them along with picture clues in place of some words. I’m personally not a fan of this and it is kind of confusing to my kids, the clues are kind of hard to see. The story is fine. Scooby and the gang set up a haunted house and get a little surprise.
We love all things Scooby-Doo, so whenever we find a Scooby-Doo book we haven't read yet at our local library, we just have to borrow it.
This is a fun book in the Scooby-Doo! Picture Clue Books series. The mystery isn't too scary and the rebus pictures scattered throughout the book make it easier for children to read along, although I find it awkward when we read it together and they say what the pictures are and I say the words.
I think it's better when they can read the whole thing. Otherwise, it's a short, fun Halloween story that is sure to be a hit with young Scooby Doo fans. (We just discovered these books and even though Halloween was long ago, our girls couldn't wait to read them.)
This book is one that has the small pictures in the wording so a non reader or merging reader can see a pic of a floor and know to say 'floor' or Shaggy's face and know to say 'shaggy'... makes it hard to read out loud as you can't just read it without pausing to figure out what they meant to say. But over all not a bad book. It's not 'scary' either...there is no 'bad guy' at the end but has the mystery type storyline through the book.
I love scooby-doo! The shows are popular and kids love them. I think kids would want to read this book cause it is based off of the cartoon. This is a fun Halloween book that isn't too scary for kids. It is interactive with the pictures and the flash cards in the back so kids can read along easier.
