The Resurrection File by Craig Parshall
Genre: Contemporary Christian Fiction, Mystery, suspense
Format: Kindle
Timeframe: Originally published in 2002, so about that time?
Location: DC area
Characters:
Will Chambers: Defense Attorney
Angus MacCameron: Being sued for defamation of character
Fiona Cameron: Christian singer, MacCameron’s daughter
Dr. Albert Reichstad: Harvard professor of anthropology
J-Fox Sherman: Elite trial lawyer - Prosecuting attorney

Angus MacCameron, owner of a Christian magazine called Digging for Truth, is being sued for defamation of character by Albert Reichstad, well known scientist and archeologist.

The case involves the oldest first century papyrus fragment (now in Reichstad’s possession) which has been translated to read that Jesus of Nazareth was not resurrected, but still in the tomb. He has been touting that the resurrection of Jesus Christ was only a myth and that Christianity, as we know it, will forever change. Angus MacCameron claims in his magazine article that Reichstad is spreading false information about the resurrection of Jesus, and is somehow connected to the suspicious death of an antiquities dealer and anthropologist Richard Hunter, both in Jerusalem.

Through a recommendation, Reverend MacCameron chose Will Chambers, an ill-fortuned, agnostic attorney to defend him in this highly publicized case.

This book surprised me. There were twists and turns that changed an odd trial into a complicated and suspenseful story that kept me up at night, especially during the trial proceedings. This was so good. The fact that an agnostic lawyer had to defend the truth of the resurrection was such an amazing portion of the story. The labyrinth of background stories including a terrorist and a huge hoax being fleshed out, and the high-powered men behind it was such a bonus.

Plus, there were hints of a little romance of sorts, but because one character was not a Christian the other put a stop to any such possibility. She didn't date, and if she did, he would have to share her faith. I love when an author has integrity to stand on the scriptural basis for this.

This is my first Craig Parshall book, but definitely not my last. This man can write!

Oh, and thank you to Gophergirl58 for the recommendation!!

WOW! What can I say after reading such a phenomenal book?
This novel is a masterful blend of John Grisham-style courtroom drama, Joel Rosenberg-esque Middle East terrorism, and Tim LaHaye’s eschatological intrigue.
The story centers on Reverend Angus MacCameron, a Christian archaeologist dragged into a defamation lawsuit by fellow scholar Dr. Albert Reichstad. MacCameron has publicly accused Reichstad of being involved in the deaths of a Middle Eastern antiquities dealer and a respected British historian. His only hope of mounting a defense lies in the hands of attorney Will Chambers—a down-and-out lawyer still reeling from the murder of his estranged wife, recently fired from his law firm, and drowning in alcohol. Though initially reluctant to take the case of a man many dismiss as a “Christian fundamentalist,” Chambers is desperate for money—and this is his only shot.
What follows is an electrifying read that will grip fans of courtroom thrillers, Middle Eastern intrigue, archaeological suspense, political conspiracies, and end-times narratives alike.
At the heart of the drama is nothing less than the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Dr. Reichstad claims to have discovered a piece of papyrus that reveals the location of Christ’s bones—evidence that would, if true, unravel the core of Christianity. But the danger goes far beyond academia. As the plot unfolds, it becomes clear that this revelation is part of a sweeping global conspiracy: a scheme to unite radical Islam with globalist utopianism under a single world order—starting by discrediting the divinity of Jesus.
From start to finish, Craig Parshall delivers a tightly woven, high-stakes thriller that crescendos to a powerful conclusion. His message is clear, provocative, and deeply personal:
Who do you say Jesus of Nazareth is?
A great moral teacher, as some claim?
Or the Son of the Most High God?

Will is an unbeliever faced with defending a preacher against accusations that could discredit the gospels. Will’s is tempted to run but personal circumstances, conspiracies and intrigue draw him in. Before its all over more than one heart will change, and Will will be forced to deal with his beliefs and his demons.
Parshall crafted this book really well and I did not want to put it down once I started reading. I loved the idea that someone challenged the veracity of scripture and that the defense of said scripture came down to a non-believer. I read this book about 6 months ago and most of the detail is gone, but I can tell you that if you like legal thrillers you should really enjoy this, and if you are a Christian you will find your emotions well involved during the story.

This was the first Craig Parshall book that I have read, and it has been added to my very favorites! The excitement in this book is second to none, and it accurately depicts an individual fighting against God's calling to accept Him as their Savior as well as the evil in the world that causes wars, murder, and strife.

I really like this first book in the Chambers of Justice series. It is Christian fiction, courtroom drama, suspense, and action all in one. This is my second time reading this one and I enjoyed it as much this time as I did the first. If you like Christian suspense, I recommend it. There are a few instances of violence such as arson, kidnapping, and a pet being shot by the bad guys, but it is not graphic and there is no bad language. The main character also struggles with his past and drowns his sorrows in drinking at the beginning of the book but he figures it all out by the end.

I believe I read this years ago but don’t recall much. It reads like a fave author, Joel Rosenberg, but not quite as exciting. It is a political thriller of sorts but all is based on a trial of the Christian foundation that Christ was resurrected from the dead. There are death threats, murder, arson, a bit of romance and lots of legal proceedings. Reasonably fun but a bit more lightweight than similar options.

This was a first for me by this author...but not the last! A delightful blend of Randy Singer and Joel Rosenberg...lawyer and international suspense. Great combo...and to see Will Chambers wrestle with and confront truth was beautiful. Thanks Craig!

Somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars... this is due to the story being really slow at the beginning. It was good to set the scene, but I felt it was drawn out... from about the 1/3 mark, the story picked up and was enjoyable...

The book started strongly. Then it got stuck at a lot of theological stuff for me. I was thinking, is this a Christian book (which I have never minded and enjoyed a few of them) or more? It turned out to be lots more. I am so glad to come across this book. Can't wait to go to the next book.

amazing work!

I love a good mystery- the mystery in this book was not the question of Jesus resurrection, but rather how Will was going to vindicate Rev MacCameron. I loved the twists and turns- action- and love in it!

Hum... not sure how I feel about this one. The plot was a little far fetched and I don't feel like the links between the characters were made clear enough. It was hard to follow at times. No bad, but nota favorite.

Another Grisham

Great lawyer story, but with a Christian slant. Tense and believable plot, likable characters, clean and wholesome, lots of legal detail.

Brilliantly made, real enough to believe that it could be truth but supernatural enough to se the hand of God in between. No half measures. Fantastic.

I was about forty percent through this book and ready to give up, thinking it wouldn't get better, when suddenly the pieces began to come together and it got interesting.
At sixty percent it was a page turner and I absolutely wanted more!
