My magic has been taken. My mates are being held hostage. And I’m completely powerless. Because for now… I’m human.
* * * I made a deal with a demon and it didn’t end well. What else is new? But this is the right path. I know it. All that matters to me is getting all of my mates in one place. Including my newest an incubus named Asher. I used the last of my power to imprison Lucifer. Had I held onto it without my mates to ground me, I would have died. So, in retrospect, I’m just glad to be alive. And now I need to figure out how to get all of my nine mates in one place. Because the realms are trembling. And Lucifer is eventually going to break free. And when he does, he’s going to finish what he started. This time, I’ll be ready for him.
Fortune Academy Book Ten is the final book in the Fortune Academy series. This is a why choose series with HEA.
USA Today Bestselling Author J.R. Thorn is a Reverse Harem Romance author. All her books are written in the same world except for co-write books, so be sure to check out the recommended reading order listed above or on the website! (She'll also admit to having an unhealthy obsession with magical tattoos and alpha males.)
We finally get to the long awaited conclusion! That took forever! The first thing I'll say is that this is the only book in this series that might be worth reading. It's not great, but at least it's worth reading without skimming.
Per my reviews of the other books in this series, you'll know that I didn't like Lily. Honestly, the only characters I liked were the angels, Logan, and Asher. Lily loses all her powers to a deal with Balthazar. Of course, she's always been stupid, so this isn't surprising. Somehow this leads to her finding her angels and Orion, who Lucifer had taken. Then, miraculously, she's a real alive goddess! Amazing! Insert eye roll here. All her memories come back and now she has true power! At this point Hades and Aries come back into the picture and she makes a deal with them. Can you say moron with me? That goes about as well as you expect! However, we still get our happily ever after. Thank goodness for that!
While the plot finally gets its ending, it is the most confusing ending ever. So much is going on with lies, backstabbing, people you think are enemies not being quite so bad, chaos everywhere! The calamity is diverted...I think anyway? But, in the end, nobody can get rid of the calamities. So, pray tell, WHY is anyone even attempting it? The whole idea of people going through horror after horror just to find out that the most they can do is put off calamity? That's just weird! And why is this called Fortune Academy when so little of it has to do with the academy?
I won't go on. You get my point. While this the best out of the 10 books, it's still ridiculous. I don't recommend this series. Somehow horrible men become her mates and they supposedly fall in love. Mind you, either Lily is asleep or comatose throughout the books, or her guys are out of the picture for one reason or another... So how they fall in love is beyond me. Most of them are horrible people as well (with the exception of the Angels and Asher). Read if you want to, but it was really a terrible series and a waste of time.
I stayed up late to finish this book, so I admit my review isn't going to be as thorough as they often can be.
I was getting a bit tired of binging this series. Despite them not being long in length, 10 books (plus "episodes" in between) are a lot to read in one go. I really should have read a couple of standalone books in between to break it up, but oh well. That being said, I can't believe 10 books led up to that ending. There wasn't exactly a "final battle," but what could be considered as such lasted 1-2 chapters. It was also a bit confusing and abrupt. It wasn't defeated because then there wouldn't be more series about the next champions and Echos of Calamity. However, it just kind of... poofed? I don't know. I understand what happened, but I personally think it could have been written better. Especially since it took TEN BOOKS to lead up to this.
Do I regret reading it? No... do I wish it had been shorter? Absolutely. I'm sure there's a TON that could have been removed and still had the story make sense. Do I recommend it? Eh.... I'm on the fence. If someone has very specific tropes they're looking for that fits this series, I'll mention it, perhaps. It isn't one I'll go out of my way to recommend, though.
I would be intrigued to read the next series since I'm certain it involves Raze, but I just can't. I can't find it in me to dedicate any more time to this series.
Three stars because the book isn't BAD. But it wasn't great, either. That ending? That took away a whole star, in my opinion.
This series consisted of roughly 2111 pages, spread across 10 books for a story that could have put into 3 books.
The first 2 books were decent, the third book was aright too but then we started with the repetitiveness and the constant back and forth over THE SAME FUCKING SHIT. The amount of times this bitch would question what was happening and no one ever told her anything or vice versa was INSANE.
But one of the most annoying things would have to be all the secrets that were kept from each other. There was 10 main characters and a bunch of side characters that were dominant throughout the story and fucking hell, NO ONE COMMUNICATED ANYTHING!?? We got everything in either half truths or you had to wait 1-2 books to get to the point and yet when it all "came out" it was literally nothing?
This was the biggest waste of fucking time but I made myself finish all 10 books just so I could see how everything played out, hoping for redemption only for it to all be for nothing . Oh yeah, right at the end it mentions that there are ANOTHER 6 BOOKS IN THE POV OF THE MEN... HA I would rather spend the rest of my life picking up sand with tweezers
I read this whole damn series, and while the plot was.... okay, if not a but predictable, I have a MAJOR GRIEVANCE. The author was undeniably unable to have all the mates in one place at the same time. I mean... 9? a bit excessive. but if you're going to choose a ridiculous number like that, then COMMIT. We didn't see all the mates together until the very end, and I genuinely felt like that did this entire series a huge disservice, for multiple reasons. Because not only was there a lack of character growth between the MMCs who kind of all hated each other? but also, Miss Ma'am was unable to achieve her 'full potential' until she bonded all of them. That process was severely stunted in the story because the author just could not seem to figure out how to get them all in a fucking room together. We should have had much more time with that, as readers, to enjoy less of the angst and MORE of the spice and the power. But I fucking digress...
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a series that concluded in a way that made me this grumpy. I found this author through a collaboration they did with Lexi C Foss on the various Fae Academy series. I didn’t read the two precursor series in the Bloodstone universe because they didn’t seem that interesting, and looking back now, I’m glad I didn’t. On the surface, this series is similar to the Midnight Fae Academy series - an unsuspecting MC is swept into a world she has very little information about by people she can’t trust but whom claim that she is important and has incredibly powerful magic.
The romance aspect of this series is fine - not my favorite but still enjoyable and the only reason I kept reading. I wanted to see who the ninth Virtue was and because that took until the tenth book, I finished the series.
HOWEVER, the ending of this series was incredibly disappointing and I genuinely don’t know if I’ll be able to read any of the other series of books this author makes. After building up all of the power of three stuff throughout the last several book, on top of this series being the THIRD series of books where characters are facing the same antagonist, for everything to just end without actually resolving the issue feels like a desperate grab by the author to keep this universe alive. For all of Lily’s talk about finally finishing what the other two failed to, for all of the build up of her discovering all of her powers and all of the strengths of her Virtues, just for everything to end with them 1) not actually fixing anything and 2) being totally ok with knowing that Calamity was just going to move on to another world and wreak havoc but at least she and her pack get to have their happily ever after?
Yeah, I’m out. I get that there is supposedly some ancient, long time coming plot that Balthazar has been pulling the strings for the whole time, but that doesn’t feel like it needed to exist. It’s ok for a Big Bad to be defeated after THREE SERIES of books. This universe would still be interesting without the overarching plot of Calamity and I’m sad the author can’t seem to let that go.

Fortune Academy Underworld: Book Ten (Fortune Academy Underworld Book 10)
Fortune Academy Underworld: Book Ten (Fortune Academy Underworld Book 10) ~~ Book Ten feels like the calm before the storm ~ and also the storm itself. Everything that’s been building finally starts snapping into place, and the consequences are unavoidable. Lily is no longer just surviving the Underworld ~ she’s shaping it.
This book carries a heavier, more reflective tone, and I appreciated that. It shows growth, sacrifice, and the cost of becoming powerful in a world that constantly demands more. The relationships are strained, tested, and in some cases permanently changed.
I finished this one on Audible, sitting in my car longer than I needed to because I wasn’t ready to stop listening. That’s always my sign of a great book.
If you’ve stayed with this series through ten books, this installment absolutely rewards that commitment.
This series is strictly for adults 18+. It contains explicit sexual content, including multiple partners. If that’s not your thing, this book and the entire series is not for you.
I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself ~ you won’t regret it.
I gave the entire series a 2, but this book BARELY deserves a 1.
LET DOWN. So big.
I craved more of the backstory of Calamity. More of the unicorn story on how/why/when it got trapped in the forest and how NO ONE knows about the forest??
And how about how we really only got like 3/4 of the history of the characters. Completely undeveloped Virtues.
And how come everyone keeps saying the other Champions failed? Like Lily didn’t even do any better. All she did was convince it to move into the shifter realm- which still doesn’t even make sense. So it can’t die because like -death itself- but how come at the end it obv it had SOME sentience.
And for it to POOF and be gone without anything really even happening??? Ugh. This book sealed the deal on all my frustrations throughout the series.
If I wasn’t so damn stubborn, I would have DNF on book 2. Guess I’m a glutton for punishment.

This has been a long journey for Lily and her mates battling the 3rd Echo of Calamity, and I have loved every step! This poor girl has been through hell, literally, and back. Adding another mate to the mix, totalling 9 with the addition of Asher. They have all grown together, learning acceptance of themselves and each other. I think my favorite is Logan, he's been a steady support, never wavering in his belief in Lily and their bond. He is also the quickest to accept each new member of the "pack". The author has built this world throughout the series beautifully and the story has naturally grown and morphed Lily from a bratty once-thought mortal, to the goddess she truly is. This is a spicy RH -- ⚔️ as well 🔥🔥-- that you definitely need to read!

Needs to have more on it. It is missing several peoples ending storyline: Balthazar? What was and is his motivation? Where did he go? Did he leave or retreat? Seth, what is up with him? Is he for another story, because he does at least go back home. He is just trying to say his realm. Which guys are now mated to other guys? What is going on with the guys? This could really use multiple points of view, it would make things clearer.
Reading Lily's story over 10 books has been a marathon. I liked her as an FMC a lot and she made me laugh. The overall plot is good and even know I hadn't read any of the previous linked series I was still able to read and understand this. Would reccomend it!
Wow just when you think all might be lost Lily does the unthinkable and sacrifices her powers for her mates and the realms. Add a new mate and this book has you hooked. Sad to see the story end but can't wait to see what we get next. Loved it.
I absolutely love lily I was so excited for this. Look and it did not disappoint. I can't wait to see how luc plays I to the next book. And where the 4th calamity will take us
I didn't think it would end like this. It was kind of a let down for the build up it was given. I still like story and the characters though. I just wish there was more backstory and a actual conclusion there was. If felt like it needed more.
Easy to follow story-line with intriguing characters. I will confess to have not read the previous books but I was pleasantly surprised and will look up the others. Worth it
After book was delayed at least twice I was expecting something really great but it was disappointing. It seemed rushed and too short and not to give away spoilers but did not solve the main mission.
