For the Love of Mary takes the reader on a spiritual journey of tender love that begins with the questions, "How do I fall in love with Mary, the mother of Jesus and my spiritual mother? How do I cultivate a deeper, more intimate and meaningful relationship with her, inviting her into my spiritual life?" Fr. Daniel-Maria Klimek, T.O.R., presents a path of deep spiritual intimacy with Mother Mary that includes practicing the "presence of Mary" in one's life, consoling her Immaculate Heart through a spirituality of reparation, hearing her voice through her apparitions, and delving into a greater understanding of her sufferings as Mother of Sorrows. For the Love of Mary considers Our Lady's important identity and role in matters that are seldom mentioned in books about her but are of the utmost importance, such as her role in spiritual warfare and the ministry of exorcism, as well as her role in the renewal of the priesthood in a time when the Church faces so much scandal and confusion. She is the Morning Star that guides the struggling Church—and each one of her children—in the midst of surrounding storms to a purer path.
This is a beautiful love letter to Mary. If you're thinking that this is just another book on Mary, think again. No matter how little or much you are steeped in Mariology or Marian devotion, you will get a great deal from this fine book. There were many insights new to me, but the overall tone is one of loving devotion. There is lots of Scripture, theology, devotions, apparitions, and even exorcisms and stigmata, but all is very accessible (check out Amazon't Look Inside feature for the full detailed TOC). I cannot recommend this highly enough for personal reading which essentially becomes a devotional. Also, an outstanding gift for the great lover of Mary as well as the person whose flame needs to be (re)kindled.
Finally, if it comes from Emmaus Road Publishing, you know it's gonna be good.
Growing up in a large Catholic family, Jesus’s Mother was simply a part of life; from rosaries to May crownings, from fresco paintings to beautiful statues, she smiled down on us from everywhere and turned our gaze towards heaven. While some non-Catholic Christians may cringe on reading this, the Catholic Churches devotion to the mother of God remains a valid biblical response to Jesus’s invitation to “Behold your Mother (John 19)”; and devotion to her only leads back to her son as her own words suggest: “Do whatever he tells you (John 2)”. However, one thing is to be immersed in a Marian environment and quite another is to have a truly personal relationship with her. “For the Love of Mary” by Fr. Daniel-Maria Klimiek, TOR, is a wonderful book offering both a window into the Church’s devotion to Mary, and a view into the tender heart of Mary for her beloved children. Perhaps, as a child my understanding and devotion were external, superficial, and limited, but over time Mary has acted in my life through her intercession in both ordinary and extraordinary ways, and I remain deeply grateful to her and wish to share her with you as Jesus did. Fr. Daniel-Marie’s book offered me much food for reflection and devotion; it moved me deeply as I found in its pages a message of hope and encouragement from a mother to her children. I wholeheartedly recommend this book!
