Keeping Secrets

Rate this book
When Det. Nick Bailey is injured by a suspect, he refuses to be examined by the precinct doctor. Lt. Alex Steele - Nick's boss and lover - threatens to make Nick cooperate. But Nick has a very good reason for keeping his shirt on - namely a notorious tattoo that would reveal his criminal past.

When Alex storms out of the room, Nick thinks he's safe for now... he should have known better.

Alex was just getting started.

This was a short one, but I had to give it 5 stars because the first thing I did after reading it was look up the author to see if there was a sequel! I didn't want it to end! I just love my M/M cops. ;) Especially if there is hurt/comfort involved.

This is a short story about a detective who hides his tattoo because it's a testament of his dark past. It's a "shrugs" reading for me; maybe because I don't have enough understanding on why Nick (the detective) feels that it is a justified reason to keep the past away from his lover, Alex. The ending is nice, but this one is just scored as one of those 'close but no cigar' category, in terms of satisfying me.

I loved it!
Sweet short story, a little snippet from Nick and Alex's lives and I definitely wouldn't mind to read more about them ;) The prequel of sorts you can find on the author's website here: Finding Comfort

Ok short m/m romance about an injured police officer who won't take off his shirt and reveal a dark secret.

For a short story it wasn't bad. Though the concept is pretty unbelievable. I mean, wouldn't someone have seen Nick shirtless sometime before? He's a detective, which means he went to the Academy. You mean to tell me no one saw him shirtless then? It's things like that that make the concept unbelievable. Apart from that it wasn't bad.

It struck me as unrealistic and unbelievable, with Dickensian-level coincidences to move the plot around. But a few hours after finishing it, I can't remember any specifics. I think this author has some interesting plot ideas, but needs to patch the plotholes a lot more before publication.

Not a bad little short, even if the idea might be a stretch in believability. How did Nick keep his secret for so long, hes a cop, I doubt he could have kept that Tattoo hidden in real life. A nice romance and I liked the guys together.
