Thrown into the fray two years ago by the bite of a rogue werewolf, Bobbie finds herself caught in the shockingly unfamiliar world of shifters and vampires. Her world is turned upside down by the fact that she’s a werewolf who can’t shift. Only the fact that she’s fated to be the mate of the Alpha of a local pack spares her life. She lives day to day under the rule of her abusive husband and the constant reminder that she is an abomination that shouldn’t have been allowed to live. And to top it all off, she is snatched from her packlands by a lunatic vampire spewing ridiculous lies about her mate and something called a wolfwitch.
James thought it was a simple enough mission. Negotiate the release of the wolfwitch from the local pack. Talk to them reasonably and sensibly and convince them of the error of their ways, forcibly if need be. But for the first time in centuries he finds himself thrown completely off balance. And by a woman, no less. Bobbie is a seductive, tempting she-devil of a woman, but it’s not the stake she plunges into his heart that breaks it. It’s the fact that she belongs to another man.
This is a story about the wolfwitch. A rare, once-in-a-generation breed of shifter who can never shift, but holds the fate of all Were-kind in her hands. Whoever controls the wolfwitch has the potential to control the world, and some will stop at nothing to own her.
Shirelle Higgins is a secret gangsta. You did not know this? I will explain to you why. From one of the funniest BTP challenges to date, spurred from er 'interesting' submissions, Ms Higgins took one look at this challenge, said to it 'yeah, what, bring it!' And bring it she has in the form of the story 'Wolfwitch'.
Bobbie is a woman under the thumb of her abusive were husband, struggling to exist in a world that rejects her as an abomination. It doesn't help that in enjoying a little rare moment of freedom, she is kidnapped by a vampire talking all sorts of illogical nonsense around a wolfwitch. James is the vampire charged with trying to negotiate a deal that will maintain balance with the paranormals, as the wolfwitch is a powerful entity who can control the shift of all weres. Bobbie is a gut wrenching, sensual siren of a distraction whom James knows to the core is his mate. But she belongs to another man, who could hold the future of weres in his careless hands. Wolfwitch is a subtle sensual story that has put a completely original, fresh and unusual spin on werewolf folklore.
James is the most human and emotionally aware vampire I've ever read of. His strength is not just physical, it is emotional, spiritual - words one doesn't necessarily associate with nosferatu. It doesn't make him any less dangerous or ruthless. Bobbie is funny, sweet and when the time comes, a warrior. This story also has possibly the sexiest scene of the year - when you get to it, you'll know what I mean. I adore a story that has an impending sense of doom about it and unfulfilled 'we-can-never-be' love. In this short, bizarrely delicious read, Shirelle gives a new twist to what is generally accepted as the norm in paranormal (see what I did there?). I have a good feeling that it will turn into a series, exploring the rather brilliant premise of Wolfwitch. Howl at the moon, y'all. Howl at the moon...

My Thoughts: Very sweet novella about a non-shifting she-wolf (Bobbie) and a vampire (James) who find love through seeming insurmountable odds. During their journey to love, Bobbie finds that she is much more than she thought she was. With James at her site, they vanquish the darkness from her past and forge into their combined destinies.
I received a copy of Wolfwitch through the Read2Review program on Goodreads so thanks to the program and the author for providing the opportunity to review the book. I really liked this book but it was way way too short at only 76 pages on my ereader that is a lot of story to cram in. I read it easily in one sitting in fact I read it on my laptop I didn't even bother putting it on my tablet. I won't provide a summary the blurb above does just fine.
I really liked the characters especially Bobbie, she stills has a lot of backbone despite being married to an abusive jackass for the past couple of years. When she discovers she is in fact not an abomination but a rare wolfwitch she embraces the role wholeheartedly. James was an interesting character as well, actually pretty human for an ancient vampire, he know Bobbie is his mate but is willing leave her be as they initially believe she is mated to someone else. Not the typical selfishness you usually see characterizing an ancient vampire.
Because it was more of a short story than an actual book the plot moved along way too fast for me. I would have loved more back story on the characters, like how Bobbie got bitten and about the council and the other races. More of James would have been awesome too :), there is not much time to build a world in 76 pages . It is hard to make a romance believable in so short a time. All in all a great quick read.
I love the twist in the story about fate and no matter who or what you are you never know whom fate has in store for you. Bobbie had to go through two years with a horrible husband who lied and abused her before her life took a turn for the better and she met her perfect match. I loved this story. I like the twists and turns it took. For example, when the vampire James realized that his assumptions about the wolfwitch were wrong. This story touches “for me” the idea that you should always be open to different ideas about life. The only problem I had is the length of the book. I do believe that there where many parts of the story that could have been elaborated more. For example in the end fight, I would have liked more details about the fight, it felt was a bit rushed or maybe elaborate more on the council and etc. Overall this was a cute story and I read it in one sitting. Thank you Shirelle Higgins and Goodreads Read2Review for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Great little story with a pretty decent plot despite its short length. I enjoyed the relationship between James and Bobbie. It was neat, almost taboo even, to read about a romance between a werewolf and a vampire.
There was enough back story, but not too much for a story this length. I thought it was pretty neat how the two of them came together, and I enjoyed reading how their destiny came about.
I loved the concept of a Vampire and a Werewolf being star-crossed lovers, and I loved the fact that this book moved fast. However, the book needed to be at least 200 pages. Overall, there wasn't enough history on the characters, and it just seemed a little rushed. Other than that, I'm giving it 2 1/2 stars.
This book is great fast paced and has a great ending. I just wish it was longer. I hope that Shirelle Higgins writes more about this world that she has created I would love to read more like this book. I love the strength that she gave her heroin. I think she did a wonderful job on this book.
