Jackie Ivie was born and raised in a suburb outside Utah's capital, beautiful Salt Lake City. The second in a family of four daughters and one son, Jackie was constantly amusing her siblings with her invented games, escapades, and stories. And she was always reading. She would even walk the family dog, with one hand holding the leash, while the other held the ever-present book. No subject went unread, but once she discovered Historical Romances, there was no doubting her favorite genre.

Jackie has always been the busy type, rarely sitting still without being occupied in at least one activity, and usually more. When she was younger, it was nothing to find her watching television, while doing her homework, listening to music, crocheting like a madwoman, and reading, all at the same time.

After graduating, Jackie gained secure employment with a large service company and relocated with her growing family to the neighboring, sparsely-populated state of Wyoming. She then spent several years enjoying the wildlife, scenery, and open space that Wyoming is known for. In addition to writing, Jackie is an accomplished artist in several mediums, preferring mixed media. She has several pictures in print and has exhibited in art showings throughout the West. There was never anything she loved doing more than reading, however, and once she discovered the thrill involved with putting her own words and fantasies on paper there was no stopping her.

In 2001, Jackie and her family took a huge step and moved to the largest state of the nation; Alaska. Although it was her job that brought her here, Jackie has grown to love this land of amazing contrasts, breathtaking vistas, and the ever-present resident, the Alaskan moose. There's nothing else like it, and the very long days of summer lend themselves to hours and hours of energizing tasks, while the long winter nights are just right for her real love...writing.

Jackie has now written thirteen novels and is continually starting more. The thrill of writing has now been enhanced by seeing her actual story in print. Lady of the Knight is her first published work. It will be followed by Tender is the Knight scheduled for release this summer.

Courtney Dwyer is a talker. She can’t seem to keep her mouth shut at all! Especially around her host…or would you call him her captor. Just who is this mouth watering man?

Dominick Miklos St. Guis has always liked being on his own. He is old fashioned, sexy, rich, assassin, and a vampire. His world is flipped upside down when he encounters Courtney.

Oh my…this book cracked me up! Courtney and her non stop talking is hilarious. I tend to do the same thing when I am nervous. She cracks me up and I was totally shocked with her mad assassin skills! Her relationship with Dom is just smoking! His other worldly way is just great! I am going to buy book 4 now! :)

This is the third novella in this series. It is about Dominic, a vampire assassin. He is known for stealth and is a recluse. His mate comes in the form of a (very) talkative girl named Courtney. She was doing a dive somewhere in the Mediterranean when her oxygen gets cut off and she sees a shark. She aims for spear gun and nails it. Before she can make it to land she is captured though. Dominic thinks Courtney is a hunter, but soon learns that she is his mate. She isn’t having any of it. He takes her on a mission of his choosing that ends up being a trap by the hunters.

The story line and dialogue was just ok. I found Courtney to be kind of annoying. The first three of these novellas, the human mates are always described as just “ok” looking and that is a bummer to me. I would want my mate to think I am stunning. My absolute favorite part of this book and its complete redeeming aspect for me was that Courtney was pretty awesome with a gun and was able to take some hunters down like she was a pro. It is because of this that this book gets 4 stars.

This book was OK. It was just as likeable and unlikeable as the first in the series. The second book at least had more interesting and likeable leading characters.

I had the same issue with this book as the others. Bad punctuations, periods where commas or semicolons should be, and the fact the writer makes it a bit hard to distinguish what character is spouting out the dialogue. There is never a, for example..."Courtney said through gritted teeth" or "Dominic replied with tenderness in his voice" to indicate which character is speaking and what their demeanor or emotion is as they spoke. The dialogue between two characters gets so muddled together that I had to reread certain dialogue sections over again to determine who said what.

This is just bad form and this writer writes like they never read a well written book in their life or taken a writing class to draw from in order to develop well written stories or character dialogue.

The four book box set was a free deal so I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the quality and shouldn't complain so much. I will finish the series by reading the fourth book today just so my OCD needs can be met with its completion before I ring in the new year. But my expectations for book 4 are very low.

Will not be recommending these books.

From the Author

EXCERPT

"You are rested?"

"Cripes!"

Courtney swiveled in her deck chair, wrapping the white dress she wore into a cocoon about her lower legs. She'd been wrong. This man was stunning enough to do anything he wanted with a woman. Any woman. Not just her. And that thought wasn't at all comforting.

"Must you sneak up on people?"

He ignored her for the most part, just as he ignored the chair on the other side of her little table. He must have known leaning against the rail and giving her a perfect look at his profile would be devastating. And damn it all, it was. Courtney took another sip of her drink before placing the glass with precision on the table top.

"I do not sneak. I entered. You do not listen."

"Haven't you ever heard of a contraction?"

He turned to face her, leaning backwards now, and that just put all that man in perfect line-of sight. Tonight he was wearing khakis and a black shirt of some t-shirt material that molded to eye-catching pecs before trying to cover up some truly amazing abs, and then it meandered somewhere beneath his belt-line in defeat. He wore his hair longer than she liked, but with it pulled back in a tail, it wasn't an issue.

What was she thinking? Nothing would look bad on this guy. And it wasn't her issue.

"You have forgotten."

"Forgotten what?"

"I ask the questions."

"Listen Handsome. You keep saying that, and then you muddle your way through some words, and nothing ever gets asked."

"Dominick. My name is Dominick."

It sounded like he was speaking through gritted teeth. On him, that was thrilling in a dangerous/sexy kind of way. It also made a river of goose-bumps rise on every bit of her skin. The man was solid sex appeal. Solid. She sighed heavily and dramatically.

"All right. Fine. You win. Dominick. But I rather like Handsome. I mean, surely you've been called that before. Somebody in your acting career had to have mentioned how drop-dead gorgeous you are. It can't be just me."

And why couldn't she just shut up?

"Acting career?"

"It's a stretch, but I suppose you could be a model. No. That'd be a severe waste. There's a huge chunk of folks looking for smoldering sexuality and man! Have you got the market cornered on that one. I'm the target audience of advertisers, you know, and trust me. You've got what it takes, although you'd probably melt the film every time they try to shoot you."

"Shoot me? Who else will try?"

He was closer, leaning down onto the table and making it groan with the weight of holding him. She hadn't seen the movement. The champagne flute wasn't the only casualty, as it rolled off the edge of the table and shattered on impact. It felt like her heart was going to come right through her chest. She had to wait several full beats and swallow before trying to make sensible words again.

"Wow. Here I was speaking of supreme sexual attraction, and you go and demonstrate. You've definitely got it, Dominick-my-man. In spades."

He narrowed his eyes next. Like that would do anything other than make him more virile and amazing. The man was over-acting, and he was good. Better than any day-time soap star she'd ever seen.

"Who else will try to shoot me?"

"Damn near everyone, I assume."

"What?"

"I said - damn near everyone who sees you will try-."

"I heard you!"

"Then why on earth are you asking?"

*He didn't look like he got frustrated often, if that's what his howl exhibited. That, and the way he lifted the table from the floor, rippling major arm muscle before flinging it right over the balcony. That was just too much machismo. The table wasn't light. And he was being ridiculous. They'd probably make a fortune off this video.

Good short story!

I liked this story. I just wished it was longer and delved deeper into the difference relationships between the vampire Dominick, his vampire assassin boss Akron and his new mate. This series is enjoyable, but it just scratches the surface. If there was more to the story and the characters were better developed this would be a great series.

I wanted to like it...I really did. I read the first book in the Vampire Assassin series, Knight After Night (Vampire Assassin League ) by Jackie Ivie and experienced the same feeling. The story was trite, mundane, and repetitive...obnoxiously so. All the conversations between Dom and Courtney were circuitous because she would use euphemisms and expressions that he didn't understand. I understand doing it for effect once but the entire book, OH COME ON!

And there was a big thing that just got to me in this book...little editing was done. I picked up more than one place where there was odd verbiage or punctuation. But, what took the cake was when Ivie used "991" instead of "911". I can see missing it once but she missed it TWICE. We're not talking about bad verbiage or punctuation...NO...we're talking mistating a common and well known number, for crying out loud.

The story was overdone and not very interesting. Sorry, but I’m going to have to pass on any more books from this series.

The Prince and his Mate

Courtney didn't know she was going to meet her lifemate while scuba diving. Dominick thought she was a Hunter out to kill him. Talk about a comedy of errors. Dominick is a very forceful and dominating vampire and is determined to make Courtney his mate. Courtney on the other hand is attracted to Dominick and trying her best not to kill him (the dude seriously needs to lighten up). But when Dominick is in danger it's Courtney to the rescue.

Ok this it the last book I am reading in this series. The only reason I have read 4 of them already is because I bought them all at the same time thinking they sounded like good stories. But they are all very predictable and I find the characters kind of annoying at times. Courtney drove nuts in this story. That girl was dense.

Who says video games is a waste of time! Luckily for Courtney is at the top of her game. Her mate is not only a vampire, but an Assassins League Vampire! I love reading this series. It fun, exciting, and oh so sexy!! If you're looking for a fun quick vamp read this is the series you need to grab and become obsessed with.

Paulette

Watch how trying to get to know a warrior reacts to the modern woman that is his mate. She lovers to argue and he does not use contractions. She is denying that she is his mate. She has made a jerk list and you should see who is on it! You'll love all the Vampire Assassin League books, just can't get enough!

Out of the Vampire Assassin League books I've read so far, this is my favourite. The ending was fairly abrupt, but the story was fun and the female lead was strong.
