This is a gentle love story set in California's hot central valley during the time of WW2. It is an interracial love story...a 'forbidden romance' involving two very different groups of people, each adding their own pressures to the two young people attempting to start a life together. A lovely first novel.
Kind of a quite sleeper story. The characters are overly polite to one another, and simplistic. Skimmed over. I do think the writer has good description potential within the writing. But it was much to polite for me.
