Five long years have passed since Chicago's notorious mob boss, Rio, lost the love of his life to the Underworld again.
Lynne never showed up to their promised date and he’s certain something terrible must have happened to her. However, his life takes a tragic turn when his daughter is murdered by a Deathwalker. Unwilling to give up, Rio dares to do the unthinkable and summons the Bone Queen. He sacrifices his own soul and takes on his fate in the Underworld. But there's a catch: he must hunt down 100 runaway souls to pay for the spell. And one of them is the queen's missing bone thief, Lynne.
Lynne has returned to the Underworld after making a series of dangerous deals––but at a steep cost. The Bone Queen knows of her treachery and seeks to punish her. On the run and heartbroken since Rio never showed up on Storm Day, Lynne turns to the Blood Queen for help. Again. The dark witch offers to join forces and bring an end to her sister. As fate would have it, Rio and Lynne cross paths once more, but this time they find themselves on opposite sides of a treacherous battle. One of the queens is hiding a dark secret that threatens to destroy all worlds.
As they unravel the lies, curses and ancient secrets, they must make a choice––to believe the Bone Queen or the Blood Queen. But who is lying?

Well... I'm not surprised second book from this series is an another 5 star read for me!
Amazing worldbuilding, great plot, many intrigues and awesome character developement! Chemistry between Aria and Rio is like from another world (he he, pun intended). I loved everything about this book. (Maybe not the fact that it's impossible to buy it in paper version :()
I'm not a huge fan of greek mythology and I think all greek gods/demigods/tytans are assholes but I don't mind how that feature was used in this book.
Now I can't wait for next one and I'm really happy I've read The Bone Weaver's Curse just now in January so I only have to wait for one more month for the third book to be published!
This is the second instalment of the Bone Thief Saga. To start this book has a map, this is always a winner! The Hades and Persephone vibes are well weaved into the plot. The FMC is fierce, which I love. The MMC is morally grey and intense. The romance is enjoyable to read. There’s one horse trope, great banter and some spice. Although, the setting is what makes this series for me, I wanted more Underworld and this book delivered. The world building is vivid and so unique. Even down to the colloquialisms the characters use, it just sets the scene so well. After reading I find myself thinking in their sayings like “Oh skull it!”. The animal companions are sweet and balance out the peril nicely for a more cozy atmosphere. The opening scene is heartbreaking 💔 then we go into the Underworld, let’s just say stuff goes down! This book is great for anyone who likes original worlds, bones, witches and romance. 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Thank you to the author for the E-ARC. This is a voluntary review of my own thoughts.
"The Bone Weaver's Curse" by Heleen Davies, the second installment in the Bone Thief Saga, delivered an immersive and unexpected journey that solidified my appreciation for this series. Having previously enjoyed "The Bone Thief's Tale," I eager to dive into the sequel, and discover what had become of our main characters, Rio and Lynne.
The narrative picks up five years after the first book's events, thrusting us back into the intricate world of the Underworld. Rio, the notorious mob boss, and Lynne, the elusive bone thief, find themselves on opposite sides of a treacherous battle. What unfolds is a gripping tale of loss, redemption, and the blurred lines between light and darkness.
The plot took unexpected turns, subverting my initial expectations. I appreciated that the story kept me guessing about who could be trusted, maintaining a sense of suspense and intrigue. The uncertainty surrounding the characters' motives and loyalties kept me on my toes, heightening the overall tension and making the reading experience thoroughly engaging.
The time jump also allowed for significant character development, especially in Lynne, who evolved into a more mature and emotionally resonant character. In fact, Lynne and Rio both, displayed growth, and their complex emotions added layers to the story. The enemies-to-lovers trope, along with other familiar romance elements, was well-executed and contributed to the captivating romantic tension.
The world-building continued to impress, with vivid descriptions and an expansion of the Underworld beyond familiar territories. Incorporating Greek mythology elements, particularly the shift from "The Little Mermaid" theme to a Hades and Persephone retelling, was done fairly well without feeling forced or jarring.
In conclusion, Heleen Davies crafted a captivating and unique narrative that excelled in surprising twists, character development, and maintaining an air of uncertainty. "The Bone Weaver's Curse" is a worthy addition to the Bone Thief Saga, and I recommend it to readers who appreciate a fresh take on mythology, complex characters, and a healthy dose of suspense. I give the second book in the series a four-star rating and eagerly await the conclusion to this riveting tale.
Honestly one of the most deep loves stories I have read. I can really feel Rio and Aria’s powerful love and the terrible heartache all the characters have gone through
3.5 Stars The second book in the Bone Thief Saga series, The Bone Weaver’s Curse leads us back into the Underworld once more as we once again delve into the lives of Lynne and Rio five years after the plot twisty events of book one.
Having lost Lynne to the Underworld five years previously Rio is dealt a crushing blow when his daughter is murdered by a Desthwalker. In order to save her life he has no choice but to strike a bargain with the Bone Queen. Collect 100 runaway souls and his daughter will be saved, the only caveat… one of those souls must be Lynne (the Queen’s missing Bone Thief and the woman Rio loves most.)
After returning to the Underworld, the heartbroken Lynne fled from the Bone Queen’s control and has spent the past five years under the protection of The Blood Queen. So, when the two cross paths once more—and on opposite sides of an ongoing power struggle between the Queens of Bone and Blood, things do not look good.
For one of the Queens hides a dark secret that could destroy every world in existence…
I enjoyed being back in this Greek myth inspired world and loved getting to see Lynne, Bory and Rio again, navigating new struggles and uncovering secrets that I really didn’t see coming.
The descriptions were just as detailed and vivid as before but the depth and backstory we get to explore (of both Lynne and Rio, and the mystery surrounding their intense attraction for one another.) Plus, we get to explore more of The Underworld beyond just Cave Town or the Bone Queen’s territory which was definitely quite exciting.
The Little Mermaid references weren’t as prevalent this time around, instead we’re treated to an Orpheus-esque, Hades and Persephone style Romantasy full of angsty tension and flirty banter that really kept the plot moving.
Lynne was still my fave (along with Bory and Soothie) but I loved how much more I enjoyed our morally grey love interest Rio. He was such a mystery in book 1 that it was difficult to tell if his motives were good or bad. But as his backstory slowly unravels, we see a less rigid, more emotionally complex (and human) side that I found really intriguing.
Overall, a pacy and plot twisty take on the Hades and Persephone myth that will definitely keep you guessing to the very last page.
Also, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the author, Heleen for the digital arc.
I would like to begin by thanking the author for the e-ARC opportunity in exchange for an honest review of the book.
My actual rating is closer to about a 3.75 .
I honestly had fun with this. I finished it pretty quickly because it was on the shorter side compared to other fantasy books that I've been reading.
As opposed to book 1, this particular part in the story takes place in the underworld and our loving couple find themselves on opposite sides of an ugly feud. Rio and Aria must find a way to clear up misunderstandings amidst all the memories, lies, betrayals, and world shattering stakes.
Aria/ Lynne finds herself heartbroken and confused over Rio, who she thinks abandoned her. She deals with a lot in this book and is forced to question everything and everyone she knows.
Rio makes a suffocating deal to save his adopted daughter and is forced to go on the hunt for Aria after years of not being able to see her. We learn so much about Rio and the lengths that he is willing to go for love.
The romance in this was angsty and full of longing from both sides, especially Rio. Aria is stubborn in her ways and incredibly naive in her belief of others. I will admit that I did want to shake these two at some point, but I still got plenty of love for them. They have quite the complicated relationship to say the least and I am interested in seeing how things will develop for them in book 3. That being said, these two have undeniable great sexual tension. The spice scenes in this were done well.
One of the things I appreciated about this book was the dip into greek mythology. I have always been fascinated with this kind of mythology and the author introduces some really interesting plot points. Moreover, this introduction really aids in building the world in the reader's heads.
The ending honestly had me stressing the hell out and I am sitting here trying to find out what will happen in book 3. I am ready to see what will become of Aria and Rio.
BOOK: The Bone Weaver's Curse AUTHOR: Heleen Davies PLOT: Rio, a notorious mob boss, is no stranger to tragedy. He lost the love of his life to the Underworld five years ago. Then his daughter is murdered by a Deathwalker. The only way to bring her back is to conjure the Bone Queen. He willingly sacrifices his soul to the Underworld in return. In order to pay for the spell, he has to hunt down 100 runaway souls, including the soul of Lynne, the love of his life. Lynne returned to the Underworld after making dangerous deals, and they have a steep cost. The Bone Queen seeks to punish her for this treason. The Blood Queen decides to join forces with Lynne to bring down her sister, the Bone Queen. Fate interferes and Rio and Lynne reunite, but they're on opposite sides of the battle. One of these queens holds a sinister secret that could bring an end to every world, and every person within these worlds! Which witch is it? Will Lynne and Rio learn to trust each other again and put an end to this plot? Will Lynne and Rio be able to be together again and have their happily ever after, or will fate keep them apart? This book was even better than The Bone Thief's Tale (and you know how much I loved that book). It was so goid to see Rio and Lynne reunite, and I spent the whole book rooting for them to be together. The battle was exciting and had me gripping my kindle to the point where I was afraid of breaking the screen. I can't wait to see what book 3 has in store!
Wow, Heleen! That ending…I need book 3 like right now!

The Bone Weaver’s Curse is one big epic journey about saving lives, uncovering secrets, finding true identities, and true love.
This book is an absolute page turner.
Things I liked: 🦴Setting = The Underworld 🦴Tropes 💙Enemies To Lovers 💙Forbidden Love 💙Forced Proximity 💙Tou(h Her & D!3 💙One Tent 💙Morally Grey MMC 🦴Hades & Persephone Vibes 🦴It kept me guessing
I honestly cannot wait for book 3!
I received an ARC of this book at no cost from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I’ll admit after book one I was a bit skeptical for book two, because while there was a lot of tension in book one I just felt like the romance wasn’t there and there characters came off a bit one dimensional. However book two was a major step up!! There was way more action, romance, and just overall I was much more immersed in the story line!!
The plot for The Bone Weavers Curse was much more interesting for me personally! Don’t get me wrong book one was enjoyable but it definitely set up the amazing plot in this book! We jump ahead by about 5 years in this book and feelings between our main characters have began to fester… turning into rage and anger. Not to mention new deals have been made, new lines have been crossed, and new alliances formed. But with World Destruction on the horizon though they may not have a choice but to put their feelings aside and let work together… the real question is when it’s all said and done will what’s most important to those with the power to change things still be left standing and who’s side will they be standing on?!
I loved Rio and Lynne even more in this story!! The drama, the tension, the romance, that ending!! In this story I felt like we were really getting more in touch with Lynne’s emotions! Which I felt we missed out on a bit in book one as there was a lot of focus spent on her learning the topworld and her retrieval of certain items. In this book though, we really got to deep dive into Lynne’s character!! Which I actually loved! I loved her anger and her ability to say yea I love you but I’m allowed to be angry at you, I’m allowed to be mad at you for keeping me in the dark and for keeping secrets that affect me, but it doesn’t mean I don’t love you! And if you were on if her people then that was it she was willing to fight and die for you, but I loved that her people were the same in that they had her back too!! So much character develop for Lynne this book and it was amazing! Of course we can’t forget about Rio, I absolutely loved him in book one! Even when he was being a bit of a morally gray jerkwad, but in The Bone Weavers Curse… just wow!! I loved him and everything about him even more!! Again his character development of finally being a bit more trusting, and a bit more opened with his emotions is amazing though his secret keeping could use some work… if you know you know! And the relationship between them!! Truly out of this world!! The banter in this book was 10/10 even better than book one and I couldn’t put this book down! I just had to know what snark was gonna come out of their mouths next… and the history flashback!! Man all of it wrapped up into an amazing love story that left me wanting more!!
The only reason this book doesn’t have more stars is because while this was an ARC their were a few editing issues where words had been rearranged and perhaps just needed one more look through by a proofreader or editor!! Overall though they didn’t detract to much from the story!
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a different take on the hades and Persephone story, with lots of banter, a bit of an enemies to friends to lovers to enemies to lovers situation.
Title: The Bone Weaver's Curse Author: Heleen Davies Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Spice: 🌶🌶🌶/5 Fantasy Romance / Enemies-to-Lovers/ Greek Mythology
The Bone Weaver's Curse is book 2 in The Bone Thief Saga. I was obsessed with The Bone Thief's Tale that this release couldn't come fast enough. In book 1 we left off as Aria/Lynne is returning to the underworld and Rio is left determined to see her next year on Storm Day (Day of the Dead).
"you need to understand something. Something vital. I'm neither a hero nor a good man. I'll do anything to save my beloved, even tear this world apart"
In book 2 we start 5 years later and Rio finds himself having to make a deal with the Bone Queen in order to save his daughter by trading his life for his daughter's and is condemned to the underworld as the Bone Queen's Reaper. He has been looking for an opportunity to return to Aria and this just makes sense. However; Rio is not prepared for the new Lynne(Aria) he will find.
"I can't let go of you," he whispered. "You're mine, now and forever."
We find Lynne(Aria) working with the Blood Queen to unlock the Book of Silva and is now part of the Blood Court. She believes Rio has forgotten her and moved on - she is completely heartbroken and angry.
"Every skulling deal reminds me of him and you know it."
Rio is tasked with returning Lynne(Aria) to the Bone Queen and once Rio finds her the story starts taking a turn and we are slowly dragged into deceit, lies and betrayal. Lynne needs to figure out what is the truth and what are lies, but will she let her heart decide or will she allow others to do it for her?
"There is always a glimmer of light in the darkness and a blossom of beauty in the shadows"
The ending of this book was a complete plot twist and left me with so many questions but overall was an absolute perfect read. The mixture of magic and references of Greek gods was the icing on the cake. Definitely recommend reading book 1 before picking this up.
*I received an ARC of this book at no cost from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I went into this one blind. I had read The Bone Thief's Tale, I was obsessed with it, and all I knew was that I had to get my hands on book two. Thankfully, Heleen had a few review spots left, so I jumped at the opportunity without even reading the blurb.
After the way book one wrapped up, if someone had asked me how book two would go, this would not have been among any of my guesses. There are plenty of surprises, twists, turns, and moments where I was kept on the edge of my seat.
The Bone Weaver's Curse picks up five years after the ending of book one. During this time, both Rio and Lynne have moved on with theirs lives, Lynne has grown into a whole different person, and a lot of the book is spent piecing together all the puzzle pieces of the five year gap.
Most of the setting is in the underworld, and while book one channelled The Little Mermaid, book two delves more into the Hades and Persephine retelling we were all promised.
This book is all about the epic journey, learning the backstory, and the characters discovering who they are as well as who they're meant to be.
Like book one, there was spice, but if I've learned anything, it's all about the build-up when it comes to Lynne and Rio.
Tropes include: -enemies to lovers -one bed -one horse -morally gray posessive MMC
I can't recommend this series enough. It is truly unique, and this book is bound to keep you guessing. If you haven't already, go read book one now!
I'm ever thankful to Heleen for bringing me along on this journey.
So we find ourselves back with our favorite two characters who have been apart for the last 5 years and apparently it is implied that neither Rio nor Lynne/Aria think the other ever came or showed. And so they carry on about their lives in these 5 years.
Tragedy strikes and Rio finds himself once again in front of Lynne/Aria, enough this time he's kidnapped her and going to take her back to the Queen. Both are miffed that the other never showed, both insist they were there and the more they start to talk, the more they get a feeling that things aren't what they seem.
There's also more of a connection between them that feels so much more feral than in the first book so right away the suspicion for me was that something big was going to go down. I am not a fan of the cliffhanger and now have to wait until next year :( However, I did like this book better than the last.
Their stubbornness and the lack of the ability to speak about the curse was frustrating to me but not necessarily in a bad way. I just struggle with poor communication in books, it's almost a whole trope in itself really. The betrayal from Mal made me so sad and I think he will have a much bigger role to play in the last book.
Spice:3/5 still not as explicit or wild as others but nice when there Plot:4/5 -- it was getting good! Character Dev: 4/5
The Bone Weaver's Curse is the second installment in the Bone Thief Saga series and it is an absolute roller coaster!
This is not a standalone, so you do need to read book one to fully understand what is happening here. And what is happening here is fantastic and thrilling! Book two is now my favorite of the series and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book! I loved the setting (underworld) and the plot is compelling and suspenseful. There are so many things going on (but not too many), it keeps the reader's attention and made it an absolute page turner for me. And let's not forget the relationship between Lynne and Rio. Heartbreaking miscommunications and misunderstandings - it's got all of the elements of sadness but ... you'll have to read to find out!
This book does end on a cliffhanger so I'll do my best to wait patiently but I am ready to see where this goes!
I appreciate the opportunity to read this eARC from the author for an honest review.
I received an ARC of this book at no cost from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book two in The Bone Theif Saga Series. Before reading this book you need to read the first book. The Bone Thief’s Tale right now on Kindle Unlimited!
This book takes place 5 years after the first book. Rio’s daughter has her life taken by a deathwalker. In a desperate attempt to save his daughter he bargains with the Bone Queen to bring his daughter back. The Bone Queen makes the deal for 100 souls, the catch the last soul has to be Lynne.
This book is to the Bone Thief's Tale what ACOMAF is to ACOTAR. After falling in love with the first book, I expected a lot and was not disappointed. It kept me on the edge and guessing until the very end and the NSFW parts are just 🤤😏🔥. If you enjoyed the Bone Thief's Tale you will definitely love this sequel. I can't wait to see how it'll end in the next book. Rio is just the exact right level of morally grey possessive love interest that hooks me. Thank this author for blessing us with those amazing books!
I definitely should have re-read The Bone Thief’s Tale before jumping into this one since it had been so long, but after a few chapters it didn’t seem to matter as I was SUCKED IN.
This book was everything I didn’t know I needed in this story, although there are a few parts that seem like maybe the author loses track of who’s who, but perhaps that’s been updates as I have a digital version. 🤷🏻♀️
Either way, 10/10 would read again and 10/10 would recommend!
This book is the best rewriting of Greek mythology I have ever read the way the author portrays the mythology without the misogynist elements is just awesome the characters are bold unrelenting and relatable instead of based on incest and r@*e it shows the mythological characters deeply in love and the angst and sexual tension is just phew🥵 All though I hate the writer a little bit for ending the book on a cliffhanger but regardless She has done a great job Kudos queen ✨🩷🩷 I received a ARC of this book at no cost from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review
Miles better than the first one! Davies either found a ghostwriter or a very harsh editor. Still bogged down by the stupid, unrealistic oh-my-god-i'm-so-horny monologues (? esp when they're in life or death situations??) but the story is way more intriguing. The climax is pretty underwhelming unfortunately, and Rio should've been thinking a lot more a certain character who held a lot of connection to him lmao (who was dropped after the first couple chapters). Sadly, the guard & the Bone and Blood Queens aren't given any personality which undercuts some plot twists. Much more readable!
I loved book two! Yes, there’s A LOT going on in here, but it’s so worth it. I had very mixed feelings about certain characters, and as I read I just kept getting annoyed by them, but now that the secrets are out of the bag… all hell has broken loose. The identities of Rio and Lynne.. holy hell. I did not see that coming. There were so many twist, turns, and betrayals… and I have a feeling there’s only more to come. I need book 3 asap!
I was invited to read The Bone Weaver’s Curse by Heleen Davies for a book tour hosted by the author and Turn the Page Tours. Thank you to both for inviting me along and for the gifted e-arc. I was so excited to read this since I read and loved book 1, The Bone Thief’s Tale.
WARNING: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR BOOK 1 FROM HERE ON!
“I would have never thought that love would destroy me one day but the mere thought of losing someone I cared about was enough to push me to the brink.” Rio, The Bone Weaver’s Curse
This book picks up five years after the end of The Bone Thief’s Tale, and Rio has lost Lynne to the Underworld. A horrible tragedy occurs and Rio does the unthinkable by making a deal with the Bone Queen. One part of the deal is that Rio has to bring Lynne back to her in order to save his daughter. Basically he has to trade the love of his life for his daughter’s life.
This book was intense starting from the first chapter. Every parent’s nightmare. Rio, like all of us, would do whatever it took if it meant the possibility of saving little Jamie. So, he utters the words, summons the Bone Queen, and makes a deal. But, the Bone Queen seems to know something about Rio that he doesn’t. And so begins the mystery. Things are not what they seem at all.
I really enjoyed this story. We are taken on a wild ride of a journey that, at its base, is a father’s quest to save his daughter’s life. But through all the twists and turns, the journey morphs into something even larger.
I love Lynne and Rio’s story. Their romance crosses time and they always seem to find one another. I seriously hope they get their happily-ever-after, but I’m a little worried. The secrets this time might be more than Lynne can forgive Rio for.
The world that the author creates is so unique to me. In the first book, one of the things that struck me about the Underworld was its sky. Not a sky like we know it to be, but tree roots coming down from overhead. There are towns, people, oceans, rivers, lakes, and everything you’d expect to see in our world above, just more dark and ominous. I’d never thought of the Underworld as being an actual place. So, this whole creation is just super cool to me.
The fight scenes are good. The villains are evil. The creatures are creepy The side characters are perfect. I absolutely adore Bory! (You’ll see why.) It is a fast-paced, page-turning suspense that keeps you guessing up till the very end. And, wow! That ending! I cannot wait for the next book, which is slated to release in November, 2023.
I highly recommend this book, after first reading Book 1, The Bone Thief’s Tale, to fans of fantasy romance, dark fantasy romance, morally grey characters, brooding MMC, fierce FMC, unique magical systems, and Hades & Persephone retellings.
So... I got the chance to read the ARC and f***. This was so good. I'm left speechless... but beware there is a cliffhanger and it tore my heart out 😭😭😭😭😭 I need book 3 NOW!
Thank you Heleen for writing this. It was a ride. a blast. I'm crying.
I loved The Bone Thief’s Tale, the first book in the series. So I was super excited when I got this second book.
Tragedy takes Rio’s daughter way too soon, murdered at five years old. Desperate and devastated, Rio finds a way to travel to the Underworld to safe his little girl.
He makes a deal with the Bone Queen and soon finds himself in the middle of a war, with the love of his life on the opposing team. But Rio is determined to uphold his deal with the Bone Queen to safe his daughter, and to have Aria back at his side.
There is a lot more to the past of Rio and Aria and their love goes so much deeper then we could have realized after reading the first book. I really loved how both characters are re-discovering themselves and each other.
In this one we will get even more fantasy and more mystery, also a bit more spice. The story was once again impossible to put down, the pace is good and there are quite a few surprise turns to it.
I received an ARC of this book at no cost from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This sequel to The Bone Thief's Tale was everything I could've hoped for! The plot twists kept me guessing the whole time and I loved it! It was intense and well paced.
This sequel is literal perfection! Once I started it, I couldn't put it down. I found it way more interesting than the first one. The romance, the Underworld setting, literally everything pulled me in and held me hostage until the very last page. And that ending! Ahhhhhhh! I need book 3 stat!
It started off wild from the very beginning! A ton of twists and turns through out the book! Loved it! Definitely gonna reread this and the first book again asap!
This one was written significantly better than the first and I enjoyed it a lot. I'm excited for the last book but if they don't end up together happy I'm rioting
