Candela Benjamin discovered a passion for languages while studying Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Bristol, graduating in 2015. After earning teaching qualifications, this enthusiasm led to a career teaching English and Spanish as foreign languages, sharing a love for linguistic connections with students worldwide.
A devoted explorer of unconventional language-learning techniques, Benjamin is on a mission to revolutionise the way new languages are mastered, making the process as enjoyable as it is effective.
Rumours swirl that the romantic life of this language enthusiast is as scandalous as the stories written, filled with whispers of passionate affairs that inspire the writing.

Based in the vibrant heart of Madrid, Spain, inspiration often comes from the city’s bustling coffee shops, serene libraries, and sun-drenched rooftops, where tales are woven to captivate and delight.
This is a really fun and accessible collection of short stories in Spanish. I love that there is a list of key vocabulary words and phrases at the end of each chapter-- and that the language used is both academic and specific to Spanish slang and popular phrases. This is a great book for language learners who have Spanish as a target language, especially if they are hoping to speak Spanish in Spain.
Don't let the title scare you away. These are six short stories each containing four short chapters. Each chapter is followed by a brief summary in Spanish which is a bit easier to understand than the full chapter. The summary is filled by a list of the more difficult words/expressions in the story. You can almost read this glossary and understand the story. At the end of the book is a short guide to the past tense. The end of the book as a pretty extensive dictionary of the words used in the book.
I believe you will want to be at least at the intermediate level to get much out of this. The stories each involve a little twist at the end.
Este libro es bueno para las personas que quieren mejorar su español y hablar con más naturalidad. Los relatos utilizan y explican muchas palabras y frases coloquiales.
Normalmente, en el nivel intermedio-alto se pueden leer libros en español para niños. Sin embargo, los libros en español para lectores adultos son muy difíciles de entender.
Estos relatos te ofrecen la oportunidad de leer algo más maduro. Y no dejes que el título te asuste: los relatos exploran algunos temas maduros, pero no son demasiado explícitos.
This is definitely a departure from your typical text book learning. The chapters have good explanations and translations of difficult words or expressions showing the infinite along with it to make it more clear where the word came from. Most of the stories though have very predictable endings.
These stories are fun. They do a good job of explaining local sayings. There's a good dictionary at the end of each chapter and one for the entire book.
