As a reader, this book satisfied me on many levels. It has a touching romantic reunion, gut-twisting suspense, and wrenching emotional impact. I especially liked the development of the "villain" because it was done so subtly that even I began to doubt my perception of him. Ms. Stockenberg excels at novels that explore the mother/daughter relationship and this one is no exception. If you like suspense, romance, and family relationships all wrapped up in a credible story, TIDEWATER should make you very happy.

Fast-paced and fun, if a tiny bit implausible. Sara, who recently married her employer to give her daughter "a good life," had said daughter as a result of a one-night stand and never saw the father again. Her daughter, Abigail, wants facts about her real father and starts snooping into her mother's past. (Sara made up a story about how Abby's father had been a lawyer who was killed when crossing the street one day.)

Abby ultimately finds Ben, a private investigator who was kicked off the police force when was framed for taking evidence. Of course, Ben and Sara feel the old attraction and Sara is forced to admit to herself that she never loved her husband, Rodger, who turns out to be a bad guy, anyway.

Sara, newly married to the creepy controlling Rodger, finally tells her twelve-year-old daughter Abby that her biological father isn't really dead, and that he doesn't know she exists. Abby quickly hunts Ben down. Meanwhile Sara of supposedly doing all sorts of forgetful things and might be mentally ill, although if you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.
TIDEWATER is one if the most predictable books I've read in a long time. The characters were flat--all good or all bad, weak or strong, likable or not. I did root for Sara and Ben, and for that reason 2 not 1 star.

I couldn’t even finish this one. The characters were predictable, Sarah was whiny and annoying - and a very odd match for Rodger. Too slow for me.

I enjoyed this book so much that I have already downloaded two more books by this author onto my nook e-reader. The writing pulls you in, you don't want to stop reading. You come to care about what happens to the characters - good and bad. And there was some suspense that I was not expecting - oh, an added bonus! All in all, everything I could ask for in a book!

So often a book is touted as not being able to put down. Well, let me say this book definitely fit the bill. I have just recently discovered Ms Stockenberg's books. I have read 3 in as many weeks and surely plan on reading more. I love her combination of romance with suspense built in. She keeps you guessing. I stayed up way too late last night finishing this book but it was well worth it.

Predictable romantic novels are not my favorite. But this is good if it is the type of book you are looking for. Easy read, predictable story line; girl meets boy, girl gets pregnant and disappears. Boy is contacted by kid 12 years later and they become one big happy family except for girls current husband, who turns out to be the villain. The good prevail at the end.

I liked the book. It is written well. There isn't anything earth- shattering in it, but it is a solid, good, and quick read. Stockenberg writes a mystery with good suspense and, I thought, a good insight into mother-daughter relationships. I will read more of her books when I want a good, simple mystery to read.

Great book that I didn't want to put down, especially at the end I'm glad I found and tried this new-to-me author on Bookbub. I enjoyed the development of the story and that it kept me wondering until the very end. I will definitely read more of Ms. Stockenberg.

Too predictable

I've read many of Stockenberg's books and have enjoyed most of them, particularly the "By the sea" series. This was the type of book that I kept checking the percentage left so I could get on with my life. I knew where it was going most of the time.

Wow, this is the first book I have read by this author. And, it will most likely be the last. The lead character, Sarann is simply dreadful- no one can really be that dumb! The storyline was easily discerned and the writing lacked depth.
