I'm sure there's some great info in here, but I'm 3 chapters in and can't get over the tone and many of the descriptors. I understand it was a different time and the author is trying to historically set this tone, but when certain charged words arent directed to a quote or specific situation it's unsettling to read. I'd rather read a book that looks back in hindsight rather than drag you through the mud hoping you'll find perspective.
