Time Travel Adventures Of The 1800 Club: Book II

Chapter 1 The Wright Brothers MissionWhat happens to the world of aviation if the Wright brothers are not the first to fly? Chances are very good that the French would have that honor and take over as the aviation leaders of the world. However, they would probably keep the flying to a selected few who would consider it a flight of fancy while the Germans would be producing powerful fighters and bombers thus changing how WWI ends. The 1800 Club must send back a club member with aviation knowledge and that turns out to be John Brand, a writer for an aviation magazine and ex-air force officer. He is shocked when he finds out the reason the brothers stopped trying to fly.Chapter II The Hindenburg MissionWhat happens if the Hindenburg blows up over the North Sea instead of over Lakehurst New Jersey as it really did? There would be no survivors, as all would drown in the North Sea causing their children and future ancestors not to exist. Doctors, artists, lawyers, statesmen and just ordinary family people will not have had the chance to help the world grow with their knowledge and arts. Once again John Brand is sent back to stop the bomb from ending the trip across the Atlantic Ocean thus ensuring that the airship keeps its date with history and blow up over Lakehurst New Jersey. Something else he must do is to get out of the doomed airship before it explodes and there are other elements trying to stop that from happening.

A twist in time

I rated this book a five because it held my interest and brought me time travel with a different twist. The stories about the happenings and mishaps that could change history as we know it and the club members who try to put everything to right so that history continues as it should, is intriguing. I also liked the personal touch that was displayed by the club member, Mr Brand. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and family. I love the idea of time travel.

I've read all of the books in this series and read the news ones as soon as I see they are available. I love the mix of history with modernity. The author seems to have a very expansive knowledge of the various time periods in which the books are set... not just people and events, but the little things like environment and out of the way places.
The characters are well developed, and the plots always have some dips, hills and turns to keep them interesting.
Absolutely recommend.

Pleasant reading

I'm not a historian though I have a love for history. I'm not a scientist, doctor or engineer so I don't know the intimate details of quarks and quantum computers. What I am is casual reader. I read for fun and this series is fun. Enjoy the romp through time. Don't try to analyze the stories, just flow with them.

As someone else mentioned, this one does have a touch of sci-fi in it, but it was nicely done. Again, this was an enjoyable time travel tale. The traveler this time was John Brand, who helped the Wright Brothers and Hindenberg histories stay on track.

This consists of two shorter stories which is fine. The writing is not complicated but tells the story well. A nice easy read with likeable characters.

A continuation of the 1800 clubs adventures. Enjoyable series, especially if you're interested in the past.

I really enjoy this series, and this second book is as enjoyable as the first. If you are expecting purely accurate historical fiction, this is not for you. However, the author does a great job of weaving a fun and entertaining story around well-known historical events. This particular book does jump a little further into science fiction with one character than most people will like, but don't let that stop you from reading it. The two stories are very entertaining and make for a fun, light read.

I am really enjoying this whole series. I think the author deviates from real history a bit, but that doesn't deter as he really tells a great story. Sometimes I do feel the need to look up a few facts here and there, but that's more to make me not feel bad for not remembering some names, etc. I really enjoy reading about alternative history and this is a bit of a different twist in that you rarely see how history would actually turn out, you just see how the "heroes" make sure history happens the way it should.

I loved this whole series and would tell all that if you like time travel, finding out how our history could of changed if certain things weren't kept in place, you will like these books as much as I do ;)))
