Me ha gustado mucho esta novela que parte de una premisa diferente, un asesino que busca a sus víctimas por internet, un asesino despiadado e inteligente.
Desde el inicio la novela me ha enganchado y me he visto absorbida por su trama, con un ritmo ágil y narración perfecta, no pierdes el interés en ningún momento.
Una novela con una historia novedosa con unos personajes bien perfilados y atractivos y que resumiendo es muy interesante.
Totalmente recomendable.

Es un libro interesante. Posee mucho lenguaje informático, pero que tampoco representa una dificultad para leer el libro.
Me gustó el hecho de conocer a cada usuario y en general me gustó bastante. Sobre el final se vuelve mucho más interesante.
De todas formas, me dejó con el sabor de que le faltaba un "algo" para dejarme completamente satisfecha con la lectura.
Pero sin dudas es un libro para leer.

A todos nos gusta el anonimato de las redes pero ese anonimato en los otros usuarios nos pone en peligro por no saber quien es y les dejamos entrar muy fácilmente en nuestras vidas.
En un chat llamado Verba, el usuario Copo de nieve deja un mensaje macabro que provoca todo tipo de respuestas entre los otros usuarios. Después de estas respuestas, Nieve prepara su cacería desde el mundo virtual dejando en jaque a la policía con cada asesinato. Sólo alguien capaz de navegar por el mundo cibernético y conociendo sus peligros, podrá detenerle.
Con cada capítulo conocemos la vida de los usuarios que contestaron el mensaje y seguiremos los pasos de su destino. Es su como estar delante de la pantalla del ordenador a merced de los misterios y peligros de internet. Me ha gustado.

I've read this several times when I was younger, and honestly remembered it as being better than it was. Whether that's because I'm misremembering, or because my standards were lower back then, I don't know, but it was interesting to see.
It's obvious that it's very dated though. All the explanations of computers, internet and online forums are almost naive, and I'd think just about everybody would know enough not to run an exe-file received from somebody they don't know. That's just asking to get infected!
Other than that, it's still a fascinating book and a sobering thought that we're not nearly as anonymous online as we'd like to think.

It's hard for me to believe this book has an average rating of 4.8 stars on Amazon. Technothriller, where a killer uses executable programs nested in a computer game (like Doom) to track down people who have reacted negatively to the killer's ranting post on an Internet chat board. Too many names/people to follow, with their real names and their handles. The showdown was pretty good, estranged couple, teenage hacker, and the maniac on an island in the San Francisco Bay. Finch was definitely ahead of his time as this was published January 1, 1997.

‘F2F.’ A random mass paperback amongst rubbish old pop fiction on an unfortunate op-shop bookshelf.
How it handles joking computer references is good, though they are clearly classic social touchstones.
Ellis is Elon. Kate is the creative spouse. He lives on Tesla St.
What begins as ambitious speculation on the power of computers and telephonic potential for MURDER, ends up as a short-sighted failed human approach, ultimately reskinning a tried serial killer thriller.
It has made me think back on the disturbia of serial killer-type minds in literature, and how intense it used to be at my first brushes with it. As my first brush with mature storytelling in novels, I read a thriller like this. It was called 'Impulse' and was standard without character. Scenes of crop black hair wigged pale sex workers riding their charge and then getting their head shot in the middle of it. It must have been the author's deepest idea of depravity in sexualised murder. That and the opening scene are the most memorable, aside from the beat where the protagonist gets his head shot by the killer but he survives so as to conclude the mystery. That was more intense than all of 'F2F' manages.
Another example is 'Orphan.' Watches at early tween age in a motel living room on the small TV in the corner by the roof with low volume so as to not wake my family. That was a twisty and surprising story of evil.
It’s the same premise as my exciting hyperpop slasher film concept, only, in 1994 ‘f2f’ was a bit more sci-fi. This much I could tell from the synopses, so I rushed back to the op shop to grab it and educate myself on a path less travelled. It played to the genre. With the book's ending, Finch should've gone harder on the contrast of the all power of internet and computerised thought, versus the frailty and smallness of humans. It was a lame end, without thinking deeply on many of the speculative themes it appeared to engage in. I can't believe there are VR headsets at the end. It seemed like some extra developed levels of technology with the video game but then they bring out an immersive VR headset at the end. It should've had the power to shock the victim, it begs the question of who created it, and why it hadn't been mentioned until now? 'Virtual Light' was almost this disappointing. But at least there was character in that.

Al principio me aburrió bastante y no me enganchaba, como hasta la página 160 empezó la acción y me empezó a enganchar.
Hablan mucho sobre computadoras, sistemas de comunicación, programas, etc. de lo cuál yo no entiendo nada y se me hacía muy complicado leerlo y tratar de entenderlo, lo tenía que releer un par de veces.
Aún así el libro estuvo interesante cuando empezaron los asesinatos y Ellis (mi personaje favorito💘) empezó a hacer el trabajo de la policía. El detective Wade me pareció muy idiota, no sabía sobre computadoras(lo cuál está bien para esa época) pero tampoco se esforzaba por tratar de ver si los crimenes se relacionaban con ellas, que gracias a Ellis entró está nueva posibilidad.
El final estuvo muy bueno, mucha acción en poco tiempo, lo cuál me gustó. Pero el "plot twist" que tuvo fue bueno pero predecible. Me gustó que el asesino tuviera varios nombres distintos, fue una estrategia bastante buena.
Tuvo un poco de romance, muy pequeño, pero alegró y entusiasmó a mi corazoncito fan del romance<3

Бях на 12 г когато я четох през 1996, трилърът засягаше темата как компютрите ще навлязат в нашия живот рано или късно и как може някой с не толкова добри намерения да се възползва от това, естествено сега тази книга няма да представлява такъв интерес както в онези години когато компютърните технологии и информацията за тях бяха ограночени

Sorprendentemente el libro me atrapó al final. los primeros capítulos son un poco densos con el tema técnico de Internet, software y funcionamiento de cosas que en la actualidad ya no existen, ya que está contextualizado aproximadamente en los años 90'? pero la historia detrás atrapa y quieres saber que pasa al continuar leyendo. el final lo encontré genial.

I read this book in the nineties and loved it at the time, leaned out to somebody but never got it back. My sister found it and gave it as a Christmas present. So now I re-read it and I still loved it… the IT is outdated but it remains fun!

Βασικό θέμα του βιβλίου είναι οι υπολογιστές και το διαδίκτυο και πως ένας μανιακός δολοφόνος ειδικός σ'αυτά τα πράγματα, μπορεί να γνωριστεί με άλλους χρήστες, λέγοντας φυσικά ψέματα για την ταυτότητα του, να εισβάλει στους υπολογιστές τους, να βρει τις διευθύνσεις τους και, φυσικά, να τους σκοτώσει με διασκεδαστικούς γι'αυτόν τρόπους.
Δεν ξέρω πως ήταν οι υπολογιστές και το ίντερνετ το 1995, την εποχή που γράφηκε το βιβλίο δηλαδή, φαντάζομαι όμως ότι ο Φιντς έβαλε λίγο την φαντασία του να δουλέψει, βλέποντας βέβαια και τις τότε τάσεις της τεχνολογίας. Σίγουρα με τα σημερινά δεδομένα πολλά στοιχεία του βιβλίου ίσως φανούν κάπως ξεπερασμένα, για την εποχή του όμως ήταν μες στα πράγματα και έθετε κάποιους σοβαρούς προβληματισμούς για την ασφάλεια και την ανωνυμία στο διαδίκτυο και τους κινδύνους που μπορεί να υπάρχουν σε περίπτωση που κάποιος ευφυής και συνάμα μανιακός δολοφόνος σ'έχει βάλει στο μάτι μέσω αυτού.
Σαν θρίλερ δεν θα έλεγα ότι ξεχωρίζει από τον σωρό, υπάρχει μεν μια σχετική αγωνία για την συνέχεια, αλλά τίποτα το τρομερό. Δυνατές ανατροπές στην πλοκή δεν συνάντησα και οι χαρακτήρες μου φάνηκαν κάπως επίπεδοι, πάντως είχε λίγη δράση και η ατμόσφαιρα ήταν αρκετά σκοτεινή και μύριζε nineties. Επίσης η γραφή μου φάνηκε απλή μεν, ευκολοδιάβαστη και ξεκούραστη δε.
Γενικά πρόκειται για ένα ενδιαφέρον θριλεράκι που θα διαβαστεί υπερβολικά γρήγορα, χάρη στην πλοκή, την γραφή και τα πολλά μικρά κεφάλαια, αλλά θα ξεχαστεί μετά από λίγο καιρό. Πέρασα ωραία όπως και να'χει.

Esta historia me atrapo desde el principio al ver el mensaje tan sutil de copo de nieve en Verba, y ver como poco a poco iban cayendo las victimas sin lugar a duda un gran suspenso.
Todos esos alias, esos seudónimos, nos hacen creer que nuestras identidades están a salvo pero en realidad, esta novela nos hace ver que a Diario pones en riesgo nuestra identidad y vida por Internet.
Ellis Hoile un genio si lugar a duda poco a poco y casi por accidente descubre los terribles crímenes de este asesino de Internet, pero lo que el no sabe es que , esta en la mira de Copo de nieve. Una serie de hechos que te va envolviendo en la historia lo hacen toparse con un misteriosos pretendiente de su ex esposa Kate; a quien todavía ama.
¿Pero quien es en realidad Copo de nieve? Acaso, el invalido mal humorado, el misteriosos inquilino, y el nuevo pretendiente de Kate.
El autor narra con lujo de detalle como asesino a sus victimas,y Stephen, que ocurrira con la mente joven y brillante de Stephen, con la tan terriblemente trabajadora Kate y el genio de Ellis.

This is another book I'd have given more than 5 stars if it wasn't cheating. "The Verba Interchange is an electronic bulletin board, a virtual meeting place where anyone with a computer and a modem can exchange views, flirt, or argue with complete anonymity. But an ingenious serial killer is using the vast potential of the Net to choose victims for a deadly f2f - a face-to-face meeting." Truly terrifying given the world we live in.
This book was published when social networking was still in its infancy. It's still terrifying after all these years. I don't remember how many people I gave this book to after I read it and asked them to pass it on. That's the kind of impression it made on me.

F2F is the kind of book that will make you look at the darker side of technology and wonder "what if". It's well written, has a strong plot, and a great set of characters. While the technology discussed in the book is definitely pre-internet (BBS's) it's still worth the read.

July 30, 2011Read this just for the technical, hacking stuff, like Van Eck phreaking. That part was alright. To be fair, I don't care for thrillers generally, but the concept of using the missile silos on Angel Island was interesting.

It's barely good enough to read. The story line is crazy, the characters are hard to believe. It's kind of a thriller with a lot of techie stuff but it's not very good on either. I wouldn't say don't read it, I'd say don't expect much.

Creo que pudo haber tenido un mejor final... pero todo lo demás estuvo súper cool! ha sido de los primero libros que leo de ésta índole y me pareció fascinante. Creo también que Phillip Finch hizo un excelente trabajo al mantener el suspenso hasta el final y la intriga en el lector.

This is a book that I read pretty fast a long time ago, but very interesting and keeps you glued, but now with the great advances about computers and internet maybe lost a little consistency.

Nada wow... por ahí me llamo la atención la parte en la que Ellis empieza a darse cuenta quién es el responsable. Pero, al fin de cuentas, nada wow (tampoco se merece 1 estrella).
