Vardy was originally a chartered accountant before becoming an academic. This book is a thorough and concise book that seeks to find the cause of evil.
By using examples and by delving into how evil is viewed in different cultures and religions (psychiatry too!) we can begin to create our own view of evil.
As it states on page 178, some of the main reasons for evil are self-centeredness, the sub-conscious self, and what I would sum up as "justification" (groups justify their hatred or evil toward another group).
I'm not doing the book justice with my review. I think it should be required for college level religion/philosophy students. If you have time, read this! When people are aware they can do better.
