All she wanted was one last summer at the beach house...
Claire Thompson’s trip to the family beach house has gotten far more complicated than she’d ever expected. Grieving her late husband’s sudden death, Claire and her daughter, along with Claire’s sister and mom, are struggling to make sense of the mess he’s left them with.
How on earth did he have another family she never knew about? How did he keep that secret for so many years? Claire fights with her feelings as she tries to find a way forward. All she really knows is that her husband wasn’t the man she thought he was.
All she can hope for is that he’ll do the right thing in his will and leave Claire enough to live on. She already knows she’s going to have to sell the beach house. Will she have to sell her home, too? She hopes not.
But every day it feels like the sand is shifting beneath her feet and Claire is doing everything she can to stay upright. Will it be enough?
These books are very predictable. They are so sickly sweet as far as conclusions to the storyline go and although you know exactly what will happen, they were just what I needed for "fluff" Summer reading. I have only read the first two, so I'm not sure if this style will get to be too much for the rest, but I've read much worse.
A nice summer read, but it’s one step above Hallmark movie. I probably will continue to read the series. There’s a few characters I’d like, and a few I skimmed over but I find it hard to believe that the two families get along right off the bat when your husband has cheated on you and has another family, I think that would be very devastating and hard for both wives.

More summer time reads checked off the list! This Diamond Beach series has 7 books in it and I finished the first two. The first book had such a cliffhanger I couldn’t not read the second one! Going to pause before continuing since I have so many on my list this summer I want to read, but I will gladly jump back in again soon! I am so invested in all these women in the book - can’t wait to see how everyone’s stories play out & how their characters develop. Short chapters and easy to fly through!
Shifting Sands at the Beach House by Maggie .iller
Wonderful continuation of Bryan's two families, the tension caused by him having two families and what is to happen to his belongings and their lives. His daughters have become friends and others in the family are adjusting. What Will happen now that everyone knows what his will states. Very good read.
I love the characters are developing, especially the two sisters. The story is following the life of two - three generations of characters. I love the daughter, mom & grandmother thing for both families. I'm enjoying watching the characters go through their emotions and soar forward, starting over again at middle-age. I'm off to the next book in the series.
Great book. Maggie Miller really involves the reader with her characters. I love this because it makes them come to life for me, and I get so involved with their lives. This book had me on pins and needles learning about each characters life and how much they love living at the beach house. The ending was awesome.
Such an unusual situation for people to be in. It's truly nice how everyone has found someone but also a little too convenient. I do love this story and enjoy reading about the two families, their problems and opportunities. Will definitely have to read the next book in the series!
This was a great book about two families with the same father finding their way. Both families want the beach house and are waiting for the will to be read. Both families plan to move to the area of the beach house. Of course the will us read at the very end of the book.
What a great second book in the series. All the women are meeting new men in their lives. They all want to remain in the beach house. Clair and roxy each hope the beach house will be left to them in the will. If you want to know what happens read the book.
Another story in the lives of Bryan's two families. Follow the story to see how each woman is starting to find purpose for their lives. Just when you think the story going to end a cliff hanger II s dropped I did not know that there was another book going to have to purchase it
This series makes me a better person. The trials these families go through don’t hold them back from being wholesome people. They are all growing in their own ways with the support of one another in hard times. So great!!!!
Two wives and two daughters and none the wiser. How will everything turn out in the will. Claire was married first will she receive more the waiting is hard on her and Roxie, both daughters are finding out how great it feels to have a sister and will accept whatever decision comes out of the will. It looks like each one has found they really love Diamond Beach and all want to stay.
All the ladies decide to stay at the beach house. In order to do this each one needs a job at least until the will is read. If looking for a job why not do something you truly will enjoy. Here’s to the reading of the will and reaching out for your dreams.
I liked this book alot. It really depicts what one person can do to another's confidence and mental outlook. I would recommend both Book 1 and 2 to anyone having been married & divorced or lost a mate.
Wow can two families brought together by unimaginable circumstances. Can everyone find new love ? Can they recover from lies, death, cheaters? Can they become a family??
Story very well written expressing feelings of love and deceit ending into beautiful relationships to be admired. Can't wait to read and see how their lives evolve.
I’m loving this series. I’ve finally figured out the character and who goes where. The characters are funny and lovable. I’m enjoying the interaction between the families. Love hate relationship best describes it. Can’t wait to get to the next book.
Think that maybe too much to have all of the females in the book find a love interest. Does not seem like anything that would really happen. Nice ,but surprising ending . Ray was definitely a surprise,
I like how the half sisters have bonded and just the continuing story line! Excited for book 3! Maggie Miller has done a great job developing the characters and story line!
This feels like a guilty pleasure...the book isn't what I would call amazing but was very good. So good that I started this one right after finishing book #1. I am now on book #3. Great narration helps as well. I feel connected to the characters and will likely complete the full series.
