Contemporary crochet projects for fun, fast, fashionable afghans, shoulder wraps, and baby blankets. Throws and baby blankets are the most popular crochet projects, according to the Yarn Council of America. Beginners love them because no fitting or seaming is required, and everyone loves the look and coziness of a crocheted throw. Hooked Throws presents colorful, contemporary crochet projects for textured Afghans, lacey shoulder wraps, and cute baby blankets. The original patterns use widely available yarns including popular novelty yarns. Color photographs show the finished projects, the stitches close up, the yarn used, and how to make the crochet stitches step by step. Other features include a handy ruler inside the cover and a covered spiral binding. Hooked Throws joins an exciting new series of crochet project books.
From her Ravelry Profile: I have been knitting and crocheting forever. I am a mother and grandmother, and a great grandmother. I design, teach, and write books. My first book was published in 1978, and I just completed my 19th book In addition to the books, I have 2 independently produced video’s/dvd’s, and 3 self published entrelac crochet patterns. My flicker name is MHDesigner. I love it all!
I am a member of the CGOA, The Happily Hooked on Crochet chapter in CT, and a member of The Big Apple Knitters in New York City.
I'm making the "turning corners" blanket right now. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. I have to say, I'd probably make about 75% of the patterns in here either for myself or for a gift. For a pattern book, that's a pretty high percentage, in my opinion. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. This is only my third crochet project, and so far it's been fairly easy (and for a blanket with 20 squares, it's worked up pretty quickly). I would recommend this book to people who are interesting in crocheting blankets.
Great patterns in a thoughtfully flip spiral book so you can work form the pattern when the book is open flat. Only two blankets out of the twenty patterns I personally thought was ugly. These patterns are surprisingly easy and yet look complex. Good instructive illustrations. This maybe a purchase for me.
Twenty different throw patterns, some unique stiches, and great stitch directions/photos. If you want to make a throw, this should have a pattern for every taste/occasion
