great interviews with all the james brown drummers and more. lots of great stories of life on the road and recording. and some discussion of how people came up with beats, how they got their sound, in a conversational readable way.

Just about all the great Soul, R&B and Funk drummers, their bios, and a few bars of some of their greatest beats transcribed and on a CD. A great resource, and fun to read. James Gadson on p. 113 is not to be missed!
