THE CASE OF THE HAUNTED INSANE ASYLUM is the third book in the DETECTIVE STARK series of pictographical mystery novels .

This is a pictographical novel, meaning the story is told primarily through photographs with a few sentences of description. It is a unique and new medium of storytelling .

This book is great for fans of standard detective novels like the Mike Hammer series by Mickey Spillane, the Parker novels by Richard Stark, or the Inspector Gamache books by Louise Penny. This is the third book in a series of books using photos and short dialogue to tell a story. The story takes place at a mental hospital where patients were killed during a Halloween party. Some patients and staff just disappeared and now the place is abandoned.

Toxic waste is involved in its history and this did incredibly bad things to the patients there at the time. There's reference to some kind of ritual and various machines involved with ghosts.

It's a really neat approach and the story is as good as the first two stories in the series. I hope the author does more of these.
